My high school principal was a Marine Corps Colonel so there was no problem with the recruiters having access to the students. The Seniors were rounded up into the auditorium where we began the preliminary testing. My Army recruiter had a long sales cycle with me because I graduated at 17 and had to wait until my birthday in November to sign the papers because my parents wouldn’t sign. I remember him back in the day opening that big MOS book to discuss what I would be doing even though in 1974 the options for women were limited. I already had 2 years of business training and could type 65 wpm and won a trophy for my school in Junior Accounting. He said “How about being a Clerk Typist.” I told him that I didn’t want to be called a clerk. He just put his head down, sighed heavily and made me a 71L - Admin Specialist with OJT. That made me happy and I didn’t need to go to AIT to learn to type.

Well this is awkward... my recruiter wasn't any of these... she was chill af! 👌🏻 I once asked her if she had a quota to meet and she gave the best response.. she said "I don't care about that quota because if I send someone who doesn't want to be there, I wouldn't want someone like that watching my back in the field."

My recruiter was a combination of the Super star and the Closer lol. Came back to the world after 8 yrs of service. Told myself if I ever saw him again there was going to be words exchanged or worse. Just happened to see him at the VA , were he works now , and none of that happened. We ended up talking for a minute...had a couple of laughs...and he helped me out alot in getting things done when it came to my disibility claim. We're actually friends till this day. Crazy world right 😂

Only inaccurate part about MEPS driver was doing 95 mph in the Dodge Stratus.

My recruiter was the super star and MEPS driver lol, he would put music on while he talked to me and other recruits and always stop and say "man you don't know about this, this was when j was a kid" then after I finished some paperwork he'd just walk me out and then go home and it was only like 1pm haha

MEPS driver was so accurate. When I got picked up from MEPS by another recruiter, mine texted me later and asked “She didn’t kill you, right?” xD

My recruiter was chill af, I said I wanted to join and he said here's the practice ASVAB. Passed it with flying colors and he told me to lose a bit of weight. Dropped 40-50 then whenever I came in he used me as an example for others as to what type of person they're looking for and if I could do it they could too lmfao! I loved my recruiter, no lies, no BS, I came there to join and he knew it too. He didn't shove anything in my face he just kept it real.

My recruiter spoke to me for a solid 2 1/2. I know that dudes whole life story. I genuinely considered joining the army instead so i wouldnt have to talk to him anymore.

The first recruiter (Army) I went to see was falling asleep in his chair, literally lol. The second recruit (a female) was pretty darn straight forward and it was for a different branch (Air Force). The third recruiter I went to see was the superstar (Army) ! Now I'm working with someone that strictly works with officer positions in the Air Force and he's pretty helpful and cool. 😊

typhlosionisbest yea I’ve spoken to three recruiters so far, two marines and one army. It really isn’t shopping around more of a “I wanted to join the marines but I have a tattoo close to my elbow so I might aswell talk to army if the tattoo isn’t in code” type deal

The first recruiter I went to go see was an army recruiter and he was “talk himself out of a contract guy”. I went next door to the Marine recruiter and joined after getting their “closer”.

It's called a blue cord, it means your something special to the Army), but when I actually did enlist in college my recruiter was totally straight up and I got everything he promised (and that I wanted).

It was a 3 hour drive to meps. The recruiter that took me talked about food the entire time and swore the food he had while stationed in Japan was the best he ever had. Then he got thirsty and bought a smoothie, and bought me one too cause he didn't think it'd be fair to make me watch him drink a smoothie for 3 hours, knowing I wasn't going to eat anything till dinner at the Hotel. I'm Marines not Army though
