In last week’s episode • HER FIRST TIME BACKING... , Corey challenged the family to hike to the top of Medicine Bow Peak. It was a little daunting to look up at the mountian from our campsite, but we got up and out early to make sure we beat the afternoon storm that was forcasted.
This hike was intense not because of the length but the elevation gain and the fact that we started at 10,700ft, so there was very little oxygen on the way up. We took it slow and steady, and the view from the top was worth every step and all the huffing!
That evening we headed back out to the overlook on the pass and caught the Milky Way just before the clouds rolled in. Even if you don’t have a lot of time, go take a drive or a walk and see the area around you. We always find cool places and adventures when we do. It is also a family goal of ours to eat earlier and go for a walk or drive after. It gives us some exercise after eating and helps us all sleep better!

We wrapped up our time in Sugarloaf Campground by taking a quick hike to Miner’s Cabin and then hitched up in the pouring rain!

I had really hoped to get more time out there to shoot the Milky Way but the clouds didn't cooperate! We love all of those areas as well! The ranch that we work on every summer (coming up in our next episodes) is right next to the Big Horns! Thanks so much for watching!

Haven't watched you guys in a while.. bummer, we've been Traveling, went all the way to Maine in the RV. Have to give a big shout out to the people in Maine, Skowhegan, Maine. Stairs bolts sheared off and took a fall..Went to E.R. ouch, broke two ribs. Next day, I get a knock, he said, I heard you were at the hospital last night, I am here to fix your steps. Just saw you guys on KYD. Talking about the rose quartz, my great aunt gave me a piece of rose quartz about an inch thick and about the size of a dessert plate that my great uncle mined north of the Palomino Ranch in walkerville Montana. This was such a fun hike! It challenged us but the views were well worth it at the end. This campground is only open 6 weeks of the year because of snow!
We were in Saratoga Springs this summer. "The Lobster Pot" was so, unbearably hot! Can't wait to see your video. We camped at Lake Saratoga. We got an end site where we could park with our kitchen window parallel to the lake.

So glad that you guys discovered Medicine Bow and the Snowy Range. We discovered it by accident while on our way to Yellowstone in 1995. While you were there, did you learn about the plane crash on Medicine Bow Peak in 1955? Tragic story behind it all. Safe travels to all of you!

Thanks again for taking us along on beautiful medicine bow journey. I have done that hike several times. In my early 20's was always so invigorating. The high altitude never bothered us. But you know when you grow up in Co. I guess you're just use to it? We also cross country skied all over that part of the country now that's a freaking workout.🤣🤣🤣 But we always took 2 vehicles that way you're not having to hike back up to the car again. Thanks again for all the beautiful scenery and refreshing my memories of medicine bow and my 7-8 years living in Wy. Also lived in Saratoga for 1yr. while we were working there building a road...Hey next time you make hot dogs over the campfire instead of the bun use a can of biscuits you can even put some mustard on the biscuit roll it up nice and tight and I'm telling you hot dogs over a campfire that way so yummy...pigs in a blanket ✌️😂😂✌️ As always safe and happy travels 🥰

@@FindingOurSomeday yes it's a good thing I lived life to the fullest and lived in about eight different states for a few years then I tired of them go to another. But I was explored everywhere I lived. Before this Rheumatic disease progressed and stopped me and my flipping tracks 😆 was never an armchair Traveler. But I sure do enjoy traveling along with you guys with your beautiful photography and vlogs. Watching your kids grow over the years you're beautiful kids I should say. And Corey with his knowledge of cooking those steaks OMG I still think you need a cookbook. Yeah I felt funny giving a pro a recipe tip. But they really are good for a campfire. No need to reply again I know how busy you guys are. Thanks again so much for all you do. And I'll say it again safe and happy travels😍😍😍

Cory, great video. I really like your photography and videography, the drone shots are epic. I have 660W (2 panels) and 2X 100Ah lithium batteries, with Victron H/W. I installed it myself. I've never had a shortage of power either, however I may add one more battery to the two I have, just in case of a cloudy day while boondocking.

Thanks for hiking up there for me! My hiking days are over. My lungs would collapse. 😳 I travel with no plans and still wear myself out with so much to do. I stay a week or two & half of that is resting up for the next days adventure. 😄 Got winded watchin y'all 😁

I went through the mountains in Colorado when I was a young Army wife on our way to a new duty assignment and we had no time to stop and explore. Wow wow wow! What a hike and incredible views. You guys deserve applause for hiking up to 12K. That is not easy. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful videos and photos although this one really killed me. I wanted to stay at Sugarloaf Campground on my summer trip, but I was afraid I couldn't get there early enough in the day to get a fcfs spot. Now I must go back! Have fun at the ranch.

Your videography is superb. I'm going to be working on a small solar system as we have a new pop-up truck camper for the purpose of getting farther off the beaten path. We may end up with 300 watts mounted and may or may not carry portable panels because storage is very limited. I find it a challenge and a joy selecting and fine tuning what we carry, it's such a personal decision.

We were in Maine 4 months ago. Lubec and bar harbor. Beautiful state. We have a 5th wheel and 2 daughters. We are hoping to travel alot more really soon. We ordered last time but I messed up my order. Need an xl shirt but ordered a large lol. (Wife loves it)
