Sad that both these guys are gone. They both had many exciting fights back in the day. Even though Carl was a boxer and Tommy a puncher, they had the same flaw, a weak chin. But that made their fights so exciting. You never knew who would knock out who. This fight here was terrific! Tommy was one knockdown away from losing, but Carl just couldn't put him away. They both had so much heart, and were two of the best speakers in boxing. Great to listen to in interviews. RIP to two of the GOOD GUYS of boxing.

They were both good fighters
Pierre Coetzer never won a world title, but he could lay claim to "Universe's Greatest Moustache." Thanks for the uploads.
Man alive, it's so great to continue watching all these. Boxing was front and center in the USA, and HBO was the undisputed king of the hill. I always loved when Gil Clancy was the 3rd man on the team too. It's also sad to see how so many of these guys ended up. Bowe sounded so articulate, and now he is barely understandable - and he's broke too, with all of his well-documented issues. To boot, through no fault of his own, he fought Boogeyman Ferguson instead of Mercer (after the Dokes fight) b/c of Mercer being a lazy-training idiot who tried to bribe him during the fight to take a dive so he wouldn't lose his shot vs. Bowe, and then never regained the real title (WBO was akin to #1 contender status for the real belts back then), after the 2nd Holy fight, and will forever be haunted by the lack of facing Lewis. Morrison lost the $7M payday vs. Lewis after the Bentt KO - and then Lennox got sparked out by McCall, and they both fought each other in a non-title bout for about $2m each, and that was Tommy's last hurrah, only to lose his mind and way after getting HIV. Nobody really mentioned Real Deal Holyfield during this broadcast, b/c he had briefly retired...he would come back to conquer them all, and while doing relatively well, lost so much money and his house, etc. (plenty of blame falls on his own shoulders). Really, the only 2 guys who seemingly came out no worse for wear, and still richer than shit, are Foreman and Lewis.
Larry Merchant coming up with Archie Moore being older than the sitting president. Amazing
Amazing how Foreman started decade #1 on HBO Boxing. And here he is starting decade #3! As the favorite!!! Freakin’ amazing!!!

Only Foreman can say that. What other boxer was on Hbo in '73 and '93 ?
Fighters like Coetzer will always concern me when they fight. He is so tough and it takes enormous amounts punishment and refuses to quite. When Cortez ask Coetzer if he wanted to quit and Coetzer shook his head no, it brings tears to my eyes to see such courage and a man unwilling to quit.

I felt the vertigo setting watching the Coetzer fight live & every time since. This & the Cooney fight make me dizzy. Special breed of men who can take punishment like that
Williams vs Morrison very competitive fight. It was gut check time and both fighters proved that they both deserved to be at the top of the Heavyweight Division. Great fight.

George Foreman is a beast!!! And a poet
Great introduction.
George Foreman was the best heavyweight of the 90's. Coetzer was the toughest
In my opinion big George is the best who ever lived.
"Vanilla Ice of the heavyweight division" Larry Merchant was a treasure.
Love watching Tommy he was so Professional on the mike
Thank you Sterling wainscott for sharing this great price of boxing history thanks agian
He's my favorite boxer mr. Morrison one hell of a athletic great shape good personality a loving heart. What more could you ask for a heavyweight fighter he had it all my opinion he was definitely a heavyweight champion I miss him dearly God bless

How can you state that Morrison had good personality? He knew for years that he had Hiv and kept on boxning. And after that, he lived healthy at first, then he began with meth and other stuff, said that he never had hiv and boxed in Mexico where they don't care. If you call that good personality, you must have some weird morals.
Great upload! As time as decades have passed, I think sports fans are truly appreciating this extraordinary time not only in boxing but in the world as well. Incredible entertainment!

You drank the Kool aid. Bowe wanted the fight and sent Lewis a contract that told him NOT to accept the wbc belt. Lewis said OK then turned around and accepted the belt which infuriated Bowe and locked out the fight. Bowe was ahead of his time trying to squeeze the wbc out bc we see the things they're doing now.

+Sterling Wainscott I have Biggs vs Bey and Tyson vs Smith from March 1987 on VHS and I'm not sure it would even play. I had HBO Boxing Greatest Hits from 1989. I loaned it out to a buddy in 2002 and either VHS went or the VCR destroyed it. I currently don't have the VCR and if I did I would be afraid to try my Tyson vs Smith VHS tape. It's too bad that I didn't convert from VHS to digital when I had the chance. I put it off too long.
an old gerorge foreman still gave holyfield , moorer, coetzer some battering think of what a prime george foreman will do to these
It's true late stage Foreman relied on a slow jab, but at the same time that jab hit like most peoples' full on left hooks.
great opening monologue
Coetzer took that same 1-2 slightly better than Michael Moorer about 18 months later...
I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE WAS FOOLS AROUND STUPID ENOUGH TO UNDERESTIMATE & WRITE OFF BIG GEORGE FOREMAN=NEVER DOUBT THE GREAT MAN=EVER👍
That jab must be like being hit by a bag of wet cement! I am very grateful that my chosen profession did not require me to stand in front of George Foreman and be pummelled by him. 😀

Anyone know the name of the classical music playing at the 1:04:35 mark of the video? I see it was played a lot of HBO telecasts in the early 90's.
Great dude tough as nails going up against coconut heads.
Watching Morrison fights are frustrating. Imagine how good he wouldve been if he stopped partying and got his stamina good. He wouldve been white mike Tyson. Instead he was Tyson from the Holyfield fight.

Terrible video quality, almost unwatchable.
Mcgregor va cornier
So close to stopping Morrison. Easy to see how poor a boxer Morrison were In this fight at least- a power fighter. Tyson was way better at every level- but when people hit so hard - they will always have a change. But I can’t see him winning over Tyson, before he ruined him self
Crappy viewing quality.
