Nicole~ I'm local to you... can you share where you got your tropicals? You mentioned a local farm? I'm looking for Elephant ear and the few garden centers that have a handful are very pricey. I just heard that the green banana plants can winter over so yes, it's worth a try in our area! Choosing Joy ~stephanie

Hi! The farm has no sign or name but is easy to recognize as they have green bananas and elephant ears growing as a hedge. You have to head down route 40, past Mays Landing and it's a bit after the town of Richland on the right. They have a small produce stand and hoop houses. Look for the tropical hedge...it really stands out. They were getting low on the red bananas when I was there and I'm not sure about the green. They did seem to have a lot of elephant ears $14 to $22 for a nice size plant. All of the bananas are $22 this year. They are great people! I hope you find what you are looking for.

Thanks! That's great! That seems like great prices compared to what I've seen In other garden centers.! I'll check it out... trying to find tropicals for building my frog pond. I've got the kidney form liner... just waiting for the right time and space in my yard to place it. I'm leaning toward more shady area but I've seen others in full sun. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 🐸

@@videoability1 Best of luck with your project! From what i know if it’s a frog pond then ideally it should be 70 percent of the time in the shade. I don’t think tadpoles due well in the sun, plus you will have more algae growth to take care of. Ours is 70 percent shaded and we have no maintenance. I think it depends what you are doing with the pond though.
