Aww thank you so much! I was just thinking yesterday that the area looks like a large fairy garden that people plant for inside their homes.

I found the sweetest little newbie frog in the largest frond of my coffee cups elephant ears yesterday - taking a bath in the water that collects in the leaves! Took photos and a video and shared with my family and friends. Just thrilled about it. This is so informative, and you are correct - it's the COLLECTIVE effort - all of us doing what we can to help Mother Earth with the man-made stresses we thrust upon her. Great idea and to me it's charming - fits right in with this area - thx Nicole!!

I would be really thrilled too!! What an awesome thing. Hopefully one day our frogs will not be so shy too. Yes, that’s a wonderful way to put it…a collective effort! Thanks Deborah!!

That's why I love your channel! I think the way you do about nature.😊 There is a hedgehog family that lives behind a pile of branches under our apple tree and they are helping me out with the slug and snail problem this year.

Aww such kind words! I love your channel too and hoping to catch up on your videos soon. I’m almost done planting the tropical chicken yard 😂. My dream is to have a hedgehog or frog take care of those slugs…we have more than our share.

@@planttasticcookinggardenin1561 If you leave an unattended space in your garden with a lot of leaves for them to snuggle in winter, they will surely come over.🙂Don't worry about watching my videos, I know how much work you have in the garden + editing etc. 🐸🦜🌱

Hi, loved what you did making the habitat! Being in NJ as well, Wondering if you've experienced spotted lanterflies in your gardens and how are you dealing with them? I have in the last couple weeks and starting to worry...

Hi Pam, thank you!! Oh no so sorry to hear that. I haven’t seen any as of yet but I would definitely have organic insecticidal soap on the ready to spray them and report the sighting. It’s one of the things I would definitely spray for. I also have heard that alcohol spray has been effective. Hopefully, you won’t see more as it’s definitely something to worry about.

If you wanna attract pollinators it's best to put the pollinator attracting plants into full sun. Fir trees have very dense foliage and cast deep shade. Flowers and pollinators don't like deep shade so much.

Hmm you should put any native or ornamental plants where they grow naturally and that would include everywhere from deep shade all the way to full sun. Many pollinators actually hibernate during winter and need a space to do that. My hostas, solomans seal, lungwort, rhododendron, cyclamen, impatiens, hydrangea, begonias, etc all grow in shade and attract and feed many pollinators. Think biodiversity and places for overwintering. The shade plants shine in early spring when the sun plants are still hibernating. Pollinators would have very little food without the shade plants in the early season in colder climates. I don’t have any fir trees in my garden at this time. Our shade is not dense in this area of the garden. It’s a high light area. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us! Yes many pollinators will prefer your full sun plants but also think of the world’s tropical rainforests where thousands of insects live in dense shade with gorgeous tropical flowers such as fuchsia.
