Listening comprehension will do you wonders. Look at the cops in atlanta who are getting felony murder charges for actually doing their jobs correctly. Look at the Thomas Jefferson statue being torn down. Look at the black and other minority businesses being destroyed by the riots following protests. This is the fallout from talking too much about race.

Zac Newnham. Bro you really are too angry to convey any point. White privilege may be real in some places but to say all white people have it and it's how they get ahead is an eyes wide shut mentality, it's also stereotyping a by the color of their skin. That's called racism. Plain and simple. I hope you can calm down and give less enflamed points because you seem to have reason to be angry and your opinions could change minds if presented as a conversation and not a raging lecture. Best of luck.

Maybe one day you'll grow tired of whipping yourself and give yourself a fair shot at freedom. I hope so.

@@Sommervillle wasn't going to respond to this until I saw it was said only yesterday. There is nothing ignorant about the point of view expressed by Morgan Freeman in this interview, in fact I would argue that you can not see that is ignorance on your own part. What he has said is a proven truth of the world, if you start low it doesn't matter you CAN make it through hard work and perseverance. The issue today is we aren't teaching kids to get back up when they fall down, we focus not on how to get back up and learn from it, but instead how to shift the blame to someone or something else. This has created a world where if you perceive yourself to be disadvantaged you believe you are entitled to a free pass and the sad truth is for many they are given it, never growing up, never learning, still believing themselves disadvantaged because they never truly overcame their struggles.

Which is better than the $1.00 or 2.00 a day they make in their own country where there government treats them like shit! They sponge off the opportunities provided by the hard work that American citizens put in. Now they think they have become entitled to tell Americans what they should do. When in essence most are Illegal, the rest are barley legal and all have stolen resources that belong to someone else! Time to shut off Refugees Funds as well! When you enter this country from somewhere else. Every American just gave you a handout! Our taxes pay for everything you access! If many of you on here have such great advice for Americans, it is possible you should have stayed in your own countries and fixed your shitty, corrupt government instead of coming here and helping to create the same shitty government in America!

When I was 16, I was at a cafe in a small village where my father was from where a few old people were sitting, drinking and saying the same thing every day. "If I did this and did that, I would have been rich and better off." To which I asked "What stopped you?" He had no real answer he just looked at me wondering why. That was when I decided to leave and promise myself not to be 65 at a coffee shop say "If I did this and if I did that." 24 years later, outside of making good money, I did it. I went to the army. I left and lived in 3 different countries. I put myself through university and passed with honors. I wrote that novel I always promised. I saw parts of the world via travelling, I have made my own business, I have loved. I may not be rich or own something of my own (Yet) But I have lived a life I am proud of and when I die, my "What if's?" will be little, cause I know what happened. Follow your heart people. Don't let poverty, or race keep you down. You may not become rich (I am not and may never be) and you may not be super happy. But you will find piece of mind before its too late.

"Hard times create strong men, Strong men create good times, Good times create weak men, Weak men create hard times." This doesn't mean things are fair or that something works 100% of the time. It means, in general, that hard times create people who are tougher and more inventive who achieve things improving the situation of themselves and usually ESPECIALLY their children...creating good times. Good times then create entitled and spoiled people who are far more fragile and tend to under achieve...squandering their advantages and leading to hard times again. It's not that there are no problems in the world, it's that people adjust to their environment and when comfortable people are loathe to admit most of the problems they have as a person until it's too late...and often not even then.

Lowest crime rates, highest standards of living, highest equality rates, etc. But people have this weird idea that "their generations" have it the worse than previous generations. As a 35 year old millennial who grew up just before technology took over I can tell you that shit is way WAY easier today than it was when I grew up. I didn't have a cell phone, GPS, internet was barely a thing with my 28.8k modem, TV was whatever happened to be on, video games were something where a few good titles came out a year, etc. We have so much convenience and choice today we didn't used to have we just take for as "the expected baseline".
