As a female, I'm in NO WAY defending sexual predatory behavior and assault, but we should also remember that not EVERY woman crying sexual misconduct or rape is telling the truth.

KLM Hooked Moore A toxic environment at work is created for a woman when she has sex with anyone at work and if it doesn't work out and then that person moves on to the next victim. She will be embarrassed and that's toxic then she will either suffer or quit because she's hurt. Any man that truly cares about a woman would never do that to her at work. Only a sexual predator would be so cruel to women. That makes Tavis a sexual predator creating a toxic environment for the women he uses. Especially since Tavis is so concerned about women's issues and he's so emotional, Lol. Tavis really talks some smooth BS if you don't care about women at work. Tavis is just PUA simp predator.

Jeff Berlin....It's as though you're saying that every sexual encounter has a man as hunter/woman as prey dynamic. It takes two to tango and it's not always the man that initiates. If a sexual encounter doesn't lead to a long term relationship, how on earth does that automatically make the woman a victim? If she's somehow embarrassed afterwards, because of a decision SHE made, how does that automatically make the man a predator? Is it a mistake to have sex with a co-worker? A majority of the time, absolutely. However, it's a mistake that involves 2 adults who each have to live with whatever the consequences are for the decision he or she made.

I think abuse of power is one thing (asking sexual favours for promotion) but many of the women here agree the relations were consensual. the bar for sexual harassment has drop so low as a male i wouldn't even tell my female coworker she dress well for fear of being accused of harassment

One day, men activists will form their own groups about either false allegations and sexual abuse from the hands of females. I really want to see Me too is going to react that.

K Jackson Yeah well said Tavis. When any man has sex with a woman he works with and then it doesn't work out that woman is embarrassed and hurt when he moves on to the next victim. A man wouldn't do that to a woman he cared about not at work. That creates a toxic work environment for her and she will either suffer or quit. So if and emotional man like Tavis that says he respects women does women like that he's just a smooth talking predator. Yeah well said Tavis. So what's your excuses K Jackson are you a fellow predator or don't you think that women have feelings. How's that for drawing the line ??

Jeff Berlin, your statement makes it seem like men have control over women in those relationships instead of it being two adults who for whatever reason could not continue their relationship. I agree it could create a toxic work environment, but what if it's the woman that broke off the relationship? How do we know he is the one that ended the relationships? That is a huge logical leap that we have no proof of.

  • @jeffberlin4179

Marcus A The exact details or games that occurred in the affair doesn't change the toxic environment for the women. And I'm not going to get into all the ways that female's can be preyed on in work place like that. Like do the males draw straws on who gets first go at the fresh meat. I'm just shooting from the hip here I can keep going. So that's the kind of environment you want your mom, or sister's, daughters and granddaughters to work in ?? A work environment like Tavis has is open season on female's for a bunch of predatory pick up artists. And remember this is supposed to be work. And like you said everything changes if she breaks it off, see now we are playing the game, good idea that will work it will be on her now I got a broken heart wink, wink. Are you getting my drift here and I'm just shooting from the hip like I said. Toxic work environment for the women. And Marcus the best part is we got these women right where we want them because they need the job. Lol. Isn't life great and when we get tired of these girls we'll just hire new one's. Lol.

Wow your the biggest magina simp in the world dude! Didn't you hear Tavis say that MANY people in America meet their significant other at work? This is common sense since your at work more than your not (unless your unemployed). Let's not play dumb. He gave you examples of people finding their mates at work so now Obama, Bill Gates & Henry Kissinger are all predators? But since their relationships worked out than there not predators? You act as if every relationship ends well. Some people break up mutually, some are salty about it THAT'S LIFE!!!!! I personally would not date someone I work with but like Tavis said let's not conflate casual relationships with sexual assault that's where the line gets blurred.

My message to Men: If you have to work in a place where there are a lot of women and women are in managerial positions, my advice is to avoid them at all costs. If you have to work directly with them, keep it professional and business related. Don't joke with them, don't go out to lunch with them, don't even sit near them if you don't have to. It is time for men to survive now. there is a assault on men right now in this country and men have to adopt better strategies to survive.

tom11zz884 I think we men can survive without going into a panic, thank you. It’s about time men got a wake-up call - I don’t like the lingering casual sexism that’s still out there. I wouldn’t want my sisters, nieces or female friends talked about or ogled in the way I’ve seen here and there - the fact that some men are now getting into well-deserved trouble for past behavior makes me think “Good”. Do some women make up accusations, and lie? Yes, of course they do. Does that mean we automatically ignore and discredit any such claim? No, of course not. Any and every such claim must be looked at in its own merits, and investigated - unfortunate for the accused, of either gender, but understandable and necessary for the majority of claims which turn out to be true. I spend a lot of time editing court copy about Men abusing women, and other men - it’s a rarity that women are sexual abusers or predators, although of course they can be and are, too. But this “Look out, Men!” narrative is silly, and this “Don’t trust women!” narrative that some people are trying to peddle is odious. Let the facts emerge, the investigations run, and an end to sexual abuse and misconduct come closer. That’s what any genuine man - or woman - wants.

An assault on men? How might that be in your mind tom11zz884? Women seeking to stand up for their rights is an "assault on men?" I think not. Standing up for ones rights is never an assault! No man exercising his rights is ever stigmatized as "assaulting" women. Let's be clear -- a man who rabs a women's genitals because he feels he is entitled to do so because of his economic status, Trump's admission -- is engaging in assault IMHO!

Tavis: "That conflates a sensual relationship with sexual assault, and those two things don't connect.": The clarification that the question is completely irrelevant to the conversation at hand and is merely another tact to get me to admit to a guilt that simply isn't there...and.....I know what the fuck you're trying to do. Tavis handled this interview masterfully, and I hope if, which I genuinely feel he is, telling the truth, the false accusers are punished severely, which they probably won't ever be. PBS doesn't deserve him though even if he is cleared. I hope he never goes back there. The bottom line is that if you're going to have a relationship, even if you don't think you should be, you NEED to be careful where you have it at. Because sometimes stories get spun to make it look like you're doing something wrong and you don't even have any idea what's going on. Just got to be really careful because weeding out the good from the bad is like finding a needle in a haystack, usually.

Tavis Smiley was 100% correct here. Millions, maybe tens of millions of men and women have had legitimate, consensual relationships with other people who just happened to be their coworkers. Many people have met their spouses throughout the course of the professional career. This is not criminal behavior and is not sexual misconduct. This is an extremely slippery slope.

  • @dilio8457
    @dilio84576 жыл бұрын

I have to admit that being the owner of the company or having a high position within a company while having sexual relationships with your subordinates is not wrong but inappropriate as it can present a conflict of interest. Notice my words, CAN present a conflict of interest. However, this does not equate to sexual misconduct. First of all, most of these women are grown women and they know what their integrity is worth even in the midst of coercion. My integrity is worth more than having a job so they all must know what they were doing before they did it. It's very ludicrous to start finding people guilty on the basis of just accusation. I think there is some conspiracy at work against Tavis as he did not deny any of his encounters. Again, having relationships in a company you own with subordinates do not equate to sexual misconduct and think that's where they got it wrong. I lean more towards Tavis story.

Alonso or should I call you Tavis? You talk a lot like him by just running your mouth in self defense. Again. Tavis could not answer Don Lemmon's question so he should be quiet. He wanted to use the platform to clear his name but what's that old saying.. "what's done in the dark?" You see Russell Simmons immediately just shut his mouth but Tavis being the narcisstic person he is, simply thinks he can fool everyone. Well Don Lemmon isn't hearing it and neither will millions of others believe Tavis. And this is Tavis first time hearing of these allegations. Really, Tavis? Wow.

The irony here is most women only date men on their level or above. So i always find it amazing when the same people complain well he had a superior position so im automatically a victim. Its one thing when a manager abuses power but when we are at a stage where a consensual relationship is automatically harassment simply because of title i think it shows how little responsibility women have for their actions.

Tavis and any man in power should know better. Relationships with subordinate women should be avoided 100% because it makes women feel like they need to have sex in order to have a career. Even if the relationship was consensual, it is totally unprofessional + puts the idea sex is in the air at work.

You make some good points, in that it's not a good idea for any man and/ or woman in power to get into those types of situations, but I'm not sure that "feeling a need to have sex" to advance ones career should be used as a bargaining chip, for those who actually have consensual sex for those reasons, but to your point, people do it all the time. I'd say just walk away, unless their "down for the deal". That type of deal usually comes back to bite one or the other people involved in one way or another. Also, now days all it takes is an allegation, no matter what the circumstances are. The ball starts rolling pretty easily.

And don't read that wrongly, I encourage victims to step forward to report anyone who messed with victims. I am all for justice! Although many men are guilty of sexual abuse in the workplace, all are not. But, of this I am certain. There are many people who hold grudges against others and this new thing about "I was sexually harrassed" even if the complainer wasn't, will be the headline news of the future. I daresay, not all will be truthful. In some instances, it can be easily proven that the person blamed is guilty, but one cannot simply assume and tar and feather without the needed proof. Tavis Smiley is taking the correct steps to try and prove his innocence. The outcome is yet to be known.....

Yes we need to do due process even w Trump who confessed to it. Yes it's difficult for the accusors. It's difficult for any victim of any crime, many many of whom fear literally for their lives and the lives of their loved ones, not just for speed bumps in their career, or having to change careers, etc.. The speed ferocity & overwhelming media support of this "movement" is indeed reminiscent of other issues the alt right & their supporters have used, turning valid concerns into distracting "shiny objects". We now have witch hunts with private groups taking THE LAW into their own hands instead of reporting the potential CRIMES to the POLICE for proper INVESTIGATION, prosecution and punishment by law enforcement and judicial professionals who it should be noted often go to extremes to support accusors, protect their identities and shield them from retaliation, physical & otherwise. Witch hunts indeed it has become when accusors & the charges themselves are kept secret, preventing accused from any defense. It has never been easy to be free, something all need to remember.
