I doubt what you say. There is plenty, dare I say PLENTY to dislike about California. For example, I was there a few weeks ago. Paid as much as $6.69/gal for diesel. Here in TX, $3.17? Why is that? Because it’s California?

Thanks for featuring my rig at 14:25! Yes, it was an original 1994 1 ton dually Chevy 454 class C, 64,000 miles, but the camper part had been hit and ruined. I bought it cheaply, 300$, (then sold all the appliances for 200$) and tore the class C body off it (was a Damon Hornet I think) and installed my cabover. I was sick and tired of loading and unloading my Cabover onto my truck, and this seemed a cheap way to solve the issue… got about 1100$ total including title and registration into it, and a lot of man hours. Btw and FYI you DYI’ers, the white panels are FRP shower panels from Lowe’s, which are like 1/10th the price of the panels for motorhome sides… again, thanks for the feature!

@@jacklandismcgowan1413 hey! Thanks for the nice words. I made sure it was a 1 ton dually and, it seems to do really well. It’s actually 5 feet shorter in over all length than my truck with the camper on it. Tows well too. I have a decent backup camera on it for launching boat etc too.

@@jacklandismcgowan1413 the other thing is, there are no-good RV bodies with good chassis all over the place. Took me a week to strip it down to the base, and you’ll maybe have to pay to get all the trash to the dump, but 65,000 miles, and a dually 1 ton chassis for 300$ is a heck of a deal if you want to put in the work. I see free ones on marketplace all the time too. Plus, I sold all the appliances for 200$. I just took a sawzall and went to it, and cut it into manageable pieces. Kept the good stuff, including some solar panels, and had a decent chassis to work with.

I contacted my state, because I want to use my 1988 freightliner as a RV, and they informed me that a RV is self-contained, like water, sewer, and what not, a tiny home is not, they have to have a septic system and water hooked up

There are always ways around it. In my state, a cot mounted to the floor, a sink with a 12v water pump connected to a 5 gallon bucket (with lid of course) and draining to another 5 gallon bucket with lid (gray water) and a simple composting toilet would be enough to consider it an RV. Just have to be mounted in a manner to be able to claim it's permanent and part of the vehicle. Or, could just pick a better state to get your license and registration and consider your home state.

A bonus perk of the ford with the tiger mural is you don't need a level campsite. Just park on an incline that matches the floor angle. I've done this with the bed in my pickup camper shell because when I'm deep in the bush there's almost never a flat place to park.

If you missed it, the pickup on the back of the third semi tractor was actually on a trailer which doubles as a ramp and flat deck for the pickup. After unloading the pickup, you then unload the trailer off the 5th wheel and then tow that back with you to get another trio of semi tractor for delivery.

The decker trailer between the pickup and the last truck on the lashup, or 'consist' to use a locomotive term, is not custom, they are availabke, there are several types. Yes, it latches into the 5th wheel plate, with stabilising brackets. And everybody has different terms for everything connected with the piggyback truck deliveries. Many consists have 5 trucks in the lashup.

On the subject of RVs on a boat... When I was a kid, mom and dad used to take my brother and I on RV trips from Texas and we'd go up to the headwaters of the Mississippi River and park the motorhome on a giant river barge with two or three dozen other RVs, and the barge would slowly cruise back down the Mississippi to Louisiana, making several overnight stops along the way. It was like being on a floating campground... I guess they don't do that anymore. This was back in the Eighties...

I used to convert old MCI (Greyhound) busses into RVs. Some of my conversions would sell for between $175,000 and $300,000. I did this for about 6 years and converted 23 busses before I quit because of a back injury. One of them even carried a VW Thing in where the luggage bays were.

towing trailers using a car... #1 put a spring set on the car that can hold it up such as using 550lb/in springs on a straight axle in combination with a set of load adjusting shocks that allow travel past where the over load spring set starts to compress. ... I got a weird AAM1150 axle with dual 330-550lb/in coil springs paired with a set of 1100lb load adjusting shocks that move 3 inches higher then the heavy over load spring kicks in. have had 700lb on the hitch bottoming out the bumper but now its set up with a Dodge 3500 AAM1150 axle that had the 2500 conversion "aka removing the wheel spacers and adding normal lug studs" very heavy but that 4.10 gear makes some usable torque/weight. would take 4000lb to bottom it out 'the whole weight of the car sitting on the rear axle'

CANT FIND A PIC. BUT ILL TELLYA THE FUNNY STORY. 1967 MY DAD AND I BUILT A 30 INCH HIGH BY 6 FEET WIDE BY 10 FOOt LONG plywood box with a window up front. connected it to the 66 chevy van roof rack. we were on our way to the 67 expo in canada from chicago. the three younger siblings stayed below in the van and me 10 and my two younger brothers rode in the box. he back had no door just completely open. my mom was def against the idia the whole way up. finally she put her foot down and we got back in the van, an hour latter they decided to stop at a drive in theater so my dad could sleep and we could be entertained. on the way in a thin steel cable that at one time must have held up advertising caught the plywood box and tore it completely of the van. this was on the long dark driveway leading to the kiosks fot the drive in. we were probably doing 10 to 15 mph ....that cable could have killed us if we were still in that box. STILL HAPPY FOR THE EXPERIENCE. WOULDNT HAVE WANTED IT ANY OTHER WAY

I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze. Should I try to pull my 3,500 lb travel trailer with this car?

FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily, nuff said. Couldn't quite believe people would take some of that on the road, but some interesting stuff. One thing that appears missing in the North American Market is the Motor Mover, not seen you show anything like it, but we use them here in the UK, but probably because our trailers/caravans are a little more balanced and a jockey wheel doesn't suffer as much ground pressure, although I have seen dual jockey wheels which might solve that problem.

6:00 Someone does not know about mechanical limits or physics. That is way to much weight for the car's suspension, transmission, tires and engine. A 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck it might work but on a passenger car? Just a disaster waiting to happen. 8:53 Elevating your RV also gives you a better view of the landscape. 16:54 "Dualies" It is not, single tires on one axle, two axles are tandem, you can have tandem duallies but this is not that. 17:51 "They made it work" Um no, they failed miserably it is ready to fall apart everything is sagging, the bumper is bending as it can't support the weight of the wood. FYI I too am Canadian eh! Albertian here 👍
