Most people are… there are a few vocal groups who complain about the closures, but most people understand that Disneyland knows what they’re doing and that they don’t do anything out of spite, but only if it’s necessary.

Same thing with maintenance. I found out that because the park opens so early and closes so late, the crews only have a very limited time to work on things, which is one reason Rise does not always open on time -- the crews are literally finishing as they hand it over to the operators, plus the whole thing takes 45 minutes to get running, which is why if it breaks down late in the day it may not come back up.

3:14 Um... I don't think August 5th is next Friday, David! 😅 The DLRR isn't closing until next month, a month and 4 days from today.

Regarding the dates chosen for Space's refurbishment- Space Mountain is closing down for one month (give or take) to do the flooring and lighting work in hopes that it will be operational for the busy Halloween and Christmas seasons, which take up the entire rest of the year after August. Presumably this is all work preparing to have rides in top shape by the 70th anniversary next year.

@@matthewmeyer2290 I wouldn't expect it to be up by August 21st unfortunately. They're launching Halloween early this year (August 23rd) but I specifically heard it'd be at least a full month. I imagine it'll likely be done by mid-late September.

I guarantee you that was a very tense meeting deciding where those closures will go on the calendar. August is the only in-between point of peak seasons so it makes sense. Maybe they're planning on having the entirety of 2025 be part of the 70th celebration and there won't be a refurb season?

This is nuts. With D23 from 8/9-8/11, I can’t believe they’ll have so much closed with so much DL traffic.

The grey pipes in the hole at Tiana’s are typically used for electrical. The green pipe just to the right is drainage

It’s nice they’re finally doing something about the rides to keep them going but this really sucks for someone like me who finally booked a trip at third week of August after years of not being there. Really rethinking of canceling my trip to put it off.

I feel you, same. They are doing too much at all the same time. Tickets should be discounted during this time. Kinda feeling ripped off $2563 for 3 of us just to get into Disneyland and a lot of good stuff closed

26:03 As a construction management student the green piping is plumbing of some sort, who knows what it is running. The gray piping is plastic conduit to run electrical. Usually high voltage. The green that is painted on the mountain is indicate where the plumbing lines run on the inside.

Green piping is sewer sometimes called non potable as if you have run off during rain or water from food processing dishes etc., it will go done that line The green pipes you see coming from the ground can serve as venting or point of entry, bathrooms. The pipe placement is extensive both in critter.country and the hh house. Before any additions can open the lines must be tested. You have to wonder how much damage the original pipes endured with.the massive rain run off. Disney normally captures and hold in the water rides or sends town sewer lines.

The mixer is for brick mortar. Cement will come in on a truck as there’s far too much to pour than what a small mixer could handle 👍

Dave got very confused on the dates through this entire update. Hopefully, he was relieved when he realized he has another month before he loses the train.

Animation Academy, Winnie, Canoes, Haunted Mansion, Railroad, Tiana’s, Space Mountain, and Lincoln too? Is way too many attractions to have down during peak summer. They do not care

August 5th is not next week.

My exact thought too; closing DLRR to facilitate work at HM. And the Flattener is a remote-controlled trench compactor (possibly from Sunbelt Rentals, based on color). Lot of grey 2” conduit bundles for power or controls at TBA, plus 4” green drainage.

@@WindowtotheMagic I think my Favorite time in the park was 1990-1992. 20yr old and world just opened up for me. Hanging out in the park, with friends was the best. I loved the Poeple mover, as it was a great sit and talk ride through Disneyland. Skyway was also great.

Wow, I am so disappointed and heartbroken to hear about these August 5 closures. My family is spending a fortune to come on a once in a lifetime trip, and the rides we were looking forward to the most were space mountain, haunted mansion, turtle talk with Crush and The Anna and Elsa Meet and greet are going to be closed! We also booked months ago and paid full price for our tickets and customer service wouldn’t price adjust for the summer sale that they had for the three day ticket. I am so disappointed makes me want to cancel my trip. It’s not the Disney magic and customer service that was the standard years ago.

No it’s certainly not. We were there the past two days and could not believe the attitudes of some. Night before, we happily entered downtown Disney from the Harbor side all thoroughly checked. They unzipped and checked everything but we like safety so we thanked them and we were all chatting and saying have a wonderful evening to each other... They said stay hydrated! I dangled my water bottle I was carrying saying yes, absolutely! 😄 My friends kids had never been so they wanted to see everything. Even the Disneyland hotel at the opposite end. So we went and looked at all that and when we tried to get back into downtown Disney the boy checking my bags poked at my water bottle and asked if it was glass. It’s the kind covered in silicone so it’s safe to drop. I said yes, thinking he was interested in my handy bottle. Healthy water in glass but secure and protected..genius! But no. He looked so pleased to inform me glass bottles aren’t permitted. I thought I misunderstood and asked him to repeat himself. He did and I was so confused and started asking questions like why didn’t they say something at the other end when we could have taken it back to the hotel. He just kept repeating I must surrender the bottle. I let him know we would have to walk around the entire park if I wanted to keep my bottle. I mean we are in our 50s we aren’t young spry kids. He smirked so I asked to speak with a supervisor thinking surely they would make an exception for their error. The other side saw the bottle after all. The supervisor towered over menacingly with a smug satisfied smirk also, worse than the first! They were itching to flex their authority and with great attitude said I must surrender the bottle or find another way back to the hotel. Defeated I told my friend who was waiting on the other side with her kids that I had to throw out my bottle. They’re expensive I was not happy but what to do. She said no don’t do that it’s not right etc. but I saw this guy would not be budged he had his heels dug in. So I asked another security guy if there was another supervisor on duty and he said no, just the one. I asked well what’s the best way to get back, Katella or Ball. Out hotel was on the Ball side but he said it was probably faster going Katella! That’s probably a 3 mile hike so I said maybe we should call a taxi. My friend was so upset at the injustice she kept arguing with the supervisor and he didn’t like that so apparently he told her to leave the screening area and the premises! And then came and interrupted my instructions with the other guy who wasn’t done yet but he was getting close with his body starting to bully so I complied and moved on while my friend kept arguing with him. I found another security man further in and checked with him on which way to go and he said it’s probably the same either way but if you do want to take Katella try going this way etc etc and as he’s speaking I can hear supervisor bullying my friend and she later told me he said “you’re banned from the property for 24 hours!!” Because she wouldn’t stop arguing. He kept saying get off the premises and she was like she’s getting directions and he said “use GPS!l She also said they even opened her wallet! Weird. So we finally leave with instructions and it’s so complicated in that area we got lost and just ended up taking the Ball route around. 90 degrees. No water, drank all that. Not knowing we would be hiking for miles none of us were wearing appropriate walking shoes for distance. It was a treacherous journey. Not the way we thought we would start this long awaited trip for the kids’ first time! But they were troopers. Made lots of funny jokes about Lord Supervisor and his rules. Whatever. Chalk it up to funny mockery adventure. Then next day Disneyland. Half the staff don’t seem like they want to be there, expressionless faces sharply motioning you to move along, “NEXT!” There were some sweet ones too but I’m shocked at the others. So later that evening we are getting on Dumbo. One of the kids tells then we are a party of 4 so she assigned two and two but we had all decided to ride alone since those seats are so small and her kids are 14 and 15 and tall. The girl allowed the change and directed us to 13, 14, 15, 16. We are all buckled in and ready and here comes this cast member with a woman and child saying we stole their elephant and one of us needs to get out! Again, shocked confusion….I let him know she gave us 4 elephants. He kept saying no she didn’t and I kept saying yes she did we would have happily waited for the next ride if she hadn’t. He just kept saying no she didn’t then said “I was there!” I said I was there too! Finally my friends daughter gets out and says it’s okay I don’t want to go. I get out to go ask the girl to verify that she gave us 4 elephants and suddenly he does a 180 I have no idea why but he’s all smiles saying no get back in it’s okay it’s okay. Now he’s arguing with the daughter who’s over it and doesn’t want to ride and he’s arguing and insisting she get back in her elephant. She finally does and we ride and have more funny stories…surely Lord Supervisor is behind this …. 😄 By third day our feet were so painful…the daughter wanted to sit on a bench while we waited in line for Toy Story. I said no they won’t let you in at the front. They’ll say you cut in line and then you know the dark lord will pop up saying “well well well what do we have here…” her son interjects that he will say, “look what the cat dragged in” Lol. It really was comical all of it. But yeah, Disney has sunk to never before seen levels. 🤷🏻‍♀️🙂

I feel that it is weird that they are closing so many things just days before D23.

For a sec there I was worried since I'll be going to disneyland the first weekend of august, but I'm glad I'll make it in time just before space mountain is closed for refurbishment.

Gray pipes are used for the following; Polybutylene piping typically is: Used as the main water supply line (underground piping) Used to supply plumbing fixtures and water heaters. Installed in basements, crawl spaces, and other unfinished areas.

Yeah…super excited my family is coming to visit Disneyland for the first time on August 7th.

So weird how it is never referred to by the actual name, Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. I do like to see these updates.

I was lucky to see hyperspace mountain with all the lights going on once out of all the time it was there for season of the force

We’ve had a Disneyland vacation planned for 8 months to happen in mid-August to align with breaks in school, time in between big work projects. This can’t be moved. We bought our tickets months ago knowing haunted mansion and Tiana’s probably wouldn’t be open Now the list is: Haunted Mansion Tiana’s Pooh Space Mountain Disneyland RR Turtle Talk Anna and Elsa meet and greet I’m beyond frustrated and feel scammed. We didn’t get the stupid discount tickets, tons of stuff is closed, and because so much is closed the rest of the park that will already be busy in August is now going to get wrecked by the reduced capacity. Short of leaving this long KZread comment we feel helpless and ripped off.

I feel the same, I’m bringing a friend who has never been to DL before, it’s probably going to be her one and only trip. I feel awful and mad that so much will be closed!!! Even the monorail now too😫🤬

So happy they are fixing Space Mountain. So sad I will miss it week of August 20th. I guess I will have to try to come back in March for my birthday.

Railroad will be going down again in October for some track replacement.

Coaster at California adventure got stuck. About an hour ago. Came out in the noon news.

Damn I am really sad for that space mountain closure. I will be visiting Disneyland at the end of August from Europe. It’s already plant for a long time and connected to many other things so no chance to change it. I am a huge fan of roller coaster and I really looked forward to ride space mountain and now it’s most likely closed when I am there :(

Same I missed out on the train going to Disney world in 2022 don’t want to miss it again going to Disneyland.

The taller green pipe. I believe are to be water valves. They are high until finished grade has been established then they will adjusted to match grade. Metal valve covers will ultimately be placed there.

Was going to come this summer but I’ve cancelled my August trip. There is too much closed. I will try again in a year or two.

The grey pipe is conduit. There was some potentially there before, the green line on the facade was the former ground level which would have had that cabling below grade. The new conduit installed being turned down is likely to relocate those services since they’re digging out and lowering the overall grade of that area in critter country.

Wondering for the railroad closing if they will update the bridge for critter country as well as do whatever they need to do for haunted.

Always great updates! And wild so many are down for refurbishment at the same time, but yet they still have the high summer ticket prices 🥲 Definitely the year to skip Disneyland, or wait until Christmas season when things start opening up again.

Guessing they’re closing SM now to get ready for the holiday season. Yes, no Ghost Galaxy but just the busy holiday season.

grey tubes are electrical wiring tube, green is water for the internal servers cooling system, one of the reason WDW Tianas keeps breaking down cuz overheating so they finding new ways to improve the ride while they still have time to do so. lucky Florida incidents are helping get feedback on the ride and what they have to do to minimize issues at DL

I'm glad i ain't going to disney until October so hopefully all these rides will be reopen by then lol

I would think it would be a very exciting gig as a construction worker to get to work on a Disneyland attraction

I’m coming to Disneyland all the way from Australia in August so it’s frustrating to hear all these rides are closed

I'd guess the Disneyland Railroad closure is due to the construction at New Orleans Square station. Probably need it to be closed to finish up stuff near to the tracks at Haunted Mansion.

He is doing this full-time, and if he makes one goof up or maybe two, I could be understanding, but he repeats his error OVER AND OVER AND OVER again in the video. If he had watched his video before posting, he would have caught it and posted a graphic about where he misspoke. This is what most other vloggers do. David is too skilled to be this sloppy.

I wonder if that is why they did the discount tickets through September 26. Thoughts?

I have heard of TBA in FL breaking down during its opening, and the animistic not working as well.

2:27 Plot Twist. They are converting the building into an Animatronic ride. It will be called…. Five Nights At Lincoln’s.

26:23 for the pipes that’s schedule 40 electrical pipes and to the right of the 90 degree pipes that communications like cat5e and fiber cable so they can take metrics of the ride and animatronics. They probably needed to run new transformer for extra power to the ride? That is a guess for extra power.

I was planning to go august 9th weekend, now I'm reconsidering 🤔 and aside from the train, we don't even go on the other rides anymore cuz of the kids but then it just means less options for other people to do, so longer lines & more crowds? Unless people just stay away if they discover all the ride closures.. 🤔

Space mountain really needs it was there 6.27.24 and our carts wheel bearing was screaming for help, the ride was seamless but the noise was a bit concerning.

Maybe they are building more river by the tree in critter country by the briar patch. What a deep trench. It would be nice to have more water there.
