Wrexham have an amazing front end. Stunning, especially with super Paul Mullin back in the fold. The rearguard are great individual players but they need to find cohesion and fluidity.

Why wasn't it a red? From what we can see (albeit not much), his foot goes into his ankle. No different to some of the reds in the PL.

@@michaelmcdonald6670 I wouldn't say very obvious as we can't see a close up or replay, but it looks more like a red than not. Even if he's not a Wrexham fan, I guess a lot of commenters enjoy watching 'Welcome to Wrexham' so they perhaps sympathise more with the team.

Harsh red, they both came together, they both missed the ball.. The officiating at this level is appalling and needs to be addressed, you cant have refs deciding games and deciding the league, Wrexham did well to come back more than once with 10men, they could have dropped their heads but kept on fighting against 11 players and the ref, still got a point, uts a good point in the circumstances..

@@MrBannystar it is different because the Wrexham player was the player with the ball, the Crewe player is the one going in to make a tackle, the Wrexham player touches the ball first not the player, it's no different than saying any contact with a player regardless if you get ball first this a automatic red card, that's ridiculous, it's not a noncontact sport..

And he clearly lost possession, it was a 50/50 and his foot went into his ankle. It makes no difference who touched the ball first, he lost control and the ball was there to be won and he went in on the Crewe player's ankle. Simple as that.

Managed to come up with a title that didn't completely spoil the result this time - well done EFL. Shame most of the other matches aren't worth watching as you give the results away in the title but this is a small improvement

Very worring as we are still doing schoolboy defending . Parkinson needs to address this problem. Great come back tho. Two very hard games coming up against 2 good teams need to tighten up or we will be punished.

These highlights seem to miss all of the Crewe chances in the first half 🤔. Red was a red, pen probably wasn’t but McLean gave the ref a decision he was happy to make that he didn’t; have too.

Poor first half from us , along with a shocking ref. Second half alot better going to a forced 4-4-2 after the red card. Defensively we still look shocking t times, but this is surely due to the back 3 being exposed, due to the wing backs being too high up the pitch due to the formation parkinson plays. Surely he must see that too ? In the end, happy with a point, but still lots to improve on from us and over to parkinson to do it.

exactly, wing backs stay back there’s no attacking threat, wing backs go up we are fully exposed, too complicated of a formation, don’t see Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern, Man City etc using this negative formation

So many comments from people being wrong here. The straight red was because the player lost control, PANICKED, then made a reckless challenge. Believing it to be an awful ref decision is why noone wants to be a ref anymore - armchair fans abusing them for being correct.

No one has the ball and players collide. You might throw a yellow for his arms being high, but no way is that a red. And watching on super slow-mo, that penalty looked like a clean ball poke. Attacker fell over the front leg, not the trailing leg. I don't see the penalty.

wrexham could have very well won this game, but its such a shame that the officiating is the way that it is. more than 1 infraction in the box that could have resulted in a penalty kick or two. love to see the resilience from the home side though despite the calls not going their way. much love from USA! ❤

Very good officiating from the ref. Camera angles are funny, not sure about the hand ball call, mymight have been a pen. But from the angles we saw, I can say its very good officating at this level.

Never a red card. The ref was an absolute joke. Wrexham could have had another couple even with 10 men and denied at least one stonewall penalty. Exciting stuff though!

Hard to tell from the camera angle but there’s no way that’s a red if that’s all there was to it. 50/50 ball, gets him with the trailing leg but unless there was a clear stamp on the ankle there that should have been a yellow at worst.

Can someone explain why that *wasn't* a red? I know we can't see it very clearly, but it seems no different to some of the reds given in the PL for stamps on the ankle, deliberate or otherwise.

it's not a red because of the movement of the crewe player, he actually ignores the ball, let's it go past him so that he can go into the challenge, then he pretends that he's seriously injured (carries on perfectly normal as soon as red is given).

Despite the video not showing him getting straight back up after the red is given? Whether or not he carried on after is irrelevant as the Wrexham player still put his studs on his ankle and was nowhere near the ball. Would've been easier for to say that you haven't a clue either. Anyone else wanna have a stab at it?

I clearly watch a lot more football than you and all of the other Wrexham fans complaining about a legitimate decision. A Liverpool player was sent off for a similar challenge last weekend, and the ref made the decision with the benefit of looking at a replay several times. He even initially gave a yellow before amending it to a red as it constituted serious foul play. Whether or not refs don't always act consistently means absolutely nothing, especially in the lower leagues as they have to make snap judgements and doesn't make it any less of a red card. The ref was perfectly placed to see the tackle, the player missed the ball and went studs in on the ankle = red card. Simple as that.

@@hikerwoody182I couldn't give a flying fck if you were at the game or whether he got straight up or otherwise, it was still a red card BECAUSE YOUR LAD PUT HIS FOOT ON THE OTHER LAD'S ANKLE. Like em or not, the current rules state that's a red card. And it's no surprise that you're a Wrexham fan as only someone so biased would be so blind. And I never argue in my undies, I prefer suspenders and a thong. Anyone else wanna try?

@@aristotle1021...and if you use the 'S' word then you clearly know nothing about football. I clearly watch a lot more football than you and all of the other Wrexham fans complaining about a legitimate decision. A Liverpool player was sent off for a similar challenge last weekend, and the ref made the decision with the benefit of looking at a replay several times. He even initially gave a yellow before amending it to a red as it constituted serious foul play. Whether or not refs don't always act consistently means absolutely nothing, especially in the lower leagues as they have to make snap judgements and doesn't make it any less of a red card. The ref was perfectly placed to see the tackle, the player missed the ball and went studs in on the ankle = red card. Simple as that.
