I'll make another post just to point out that the Action 2 (maybe the 3 and 4) doesn't have an olde worlde mic input but does accept USB-C mics. And the blurb says it can be used with mics and headphones. So I'm betting that it's going to follow the Action 2 route in this respect.

Roo, great point about this being a capable camera. In the first photo, the P3 is being held next to a Hasselblad X2D, which is a medium format, mirrorless pro rig, priced @ $8k USD. Just showing the two cameras side-by-side is making a statement, I believe.

  • @Roos-Reviews

Could be! My take on that image was just that they were using the medium format camera to take some marketing photos of the Pocket 3.

  • @michaelgiordano

@@Roos-Reviews DJI bought Hasselblad a while back. They did this kind of marketing with the Mavic 2 Pro at launch. One inch sensor, Hasselblad color science or whatever it was. There is no way they are comparing the image quality to a monster medium format camera they also sell.

  • @Roos-Reviews

I meant the exterior marketing photos of the device itself. It's common to take such images using a medium format camera like the Hasselblad.

@@Roos-Reviews I agree on that. I just figured if a company photo gets "leaked" it would be beneficial to have their other products in there. I don't know the reason, I just highly doubt it's a comparison to medium format haha.

  • @Roos-Reviews

Yeah for sure there's no way they'd try to say it's as good as a medium format Hasselblad.

Looks like DJI want us KZreadrs to create & share more night/low light walk videos, while being a 4k pocket sized gimbal camera. Possible with the 1' sensor in Pocket 3. Hopefully with no overheating and no recording time limit. Needs better audio than Pocket 2 records at a very low audio bit rate. Still they did an epic job with the Pocket 2.

Would not make sense for DJI to build in wireless into both modules for cost and would create two separate network connections to Mimo. So either it’s in the main handle only, in the large module only or in small module only. Will be a bit wonky if it’s not in the main unit.

Small one is tripod thread adapter. The video showing unboxing and use guesses at whether the large handle has more than the battery in it. I don't think Mimo would link to it before the release date. There was no test of that in the unboxing video, so... we can't be sure. But in the blurb, the reference to the handle only mentions its function as a battery.

I'm very excited about this product if the rumoured specs are true. I've avoided buying a gimbal up to now because I just didn't fancy lugging one around and the set up time. But I need the odd clip that's stabilised. If this is a one inch sensor then hopefully the output will exceed smartphones for lower light scenarios. Im a content creator and have kind of worked around not having a gimbal, hopefully thats now in the past. Fingers crossed.

About the picture where you assume that a battery is installed, because there is nothing attached to the camera. But there is a coiled cable attached to it that presumably powers the camera - maybe something like the Gopro Volta grip. Would now guess that the small grip is just a battery, while the larger piece contains the receiver for wireless audio in addition to a stronger battery - would be very awesome if that also worked directly with the DJI Wireless Kit transmitters. You should be able to connect a wireless system like the Rode Go2 or Pro, since the camera has a USB port on the side. In contrast to action cameras, I would be very happy about a 1" sensor and the camera would be perfect if it had a 3x zoom built in - but I'm afraid that wish won't be fulfilled. But let's wait and see - in a few days we know more - sorry forgot to translate at first.

It has x4 digital zoom according to today's reveal from a DJI dealer. The small thing that goes under the device is merely a tripod thread adapter, not a battery.

A guy in an Indonesian DJI store has made a video of the unboxing, use and picture samples of the Pocket 3. I happened to come across it just after it was uploaded, and I immediately left a comment on it that he should take it down before he lost his job. Well, he eventually did, but not before I and others had downloaded it. Others - not me - have now re-uploaded it. [Also taken down now, sorry] I'm not sure it tells us a great deal more than we already knew but it was good to see it for real, and the samples looked pretty good. He talks to the camera and his face is well focussed, while the background is very blurred as you would expect from a 1" sensor (so it's good). He did show some stuff in the menus that was interesting - low light mode for instance - but he didn't say anything about the aperture of the lens which is one of the chief unknowns. I get the impression that he wasn't sure whether wifi etc are built in, or whether the battery handle is also a do-it-all device again. He did confirm that what some are calling a small battery is actually just a tripod thread adapter, like I've been saying... All in all the full combo he showed has the air of something that will cost first an arm, and then a leg. Hmmm.

@@rodd1000 Personally I consider the larger sensor and screen to be a massive upgrade to the P2. It does have a removable battery, mounted externally (mounted internally would have meant smaller battery and less running time). I think it's a "game changer", but an expensive one, justifiable for people needing a "pocket Pro." YMMV.
