Brilliant underwater footage. What I found interesting was for the first second or two they didn't realise they were hooked and got me thinking about striking on a bite, maybe I should wait a little longer before hitting the bite. Thanks for a great video.

I caught a 2lb 11oz Perch on the river Weaver many years ago,to me the most beautiful fresh water fish. I have ever seen since it was my first catch in 1958 with my dad on winsrsford flashes, all 3oz of it, however your camera work I have never seen before and it is absolutely fantastic, please keep it up.

The paternoster on a short weight leader, is probably the ideal rig for circle hooks, because the fish hooks itself almost immediately as it pulls against the lead.

ahaha :D Just 1 example...We tried perch fishing 50 times this year. My biggest one was around 1 pound...Caught some pike, zander , and few diff species, but big perch is a jackpot and rrly hard to get. Ppl use special nets for Perch and they destroyed 95% of our lakes/ponds...No law + stupid ppl = No fish

I have caught 50+ in a session on any number of occasions, and thrown them up on the bank. Take them home for compost as I don't eat fish. Up to a couple of kilo. Just to take the piss and rub it in. However! They are a feral pest that is endangering our natives and they are like rabbits. In fact, it is illegal to return them in many states.

*****YOU MUST READ THIS FULL COMMENT!!***** Nice perch, but certainly no monster as the title implies. I just finished watching a lake fishing video in Norway where they were consistently pulling out insanely sized perch unlike anything I have ever seen before. Can you imagine a 7 pound perch? I couldn’t until I saw that video! They caught a bunch of four pounders and even a few 5 and six pounders! It really was an unbelievable watch! I should link you to it and come back and edit this post for you to see it. Btw it’s ok if your perch aren’t that size, I enjoy seeing one and two pounder perch caught...the right size for the frying pan! They certainly are not monster sized perch though! Keep up the good work, I will be back with that link! ****Here you go my red headed friend! Check out the video below on catching monster perch. It is literally unbelievable how they managed to catch so many insanely huge perch on a single day of fishing. Be sure to watch the second day of fishing as the first part on day one they got skunked. Day 2 is like they received a blessing from the fish god or something! It is so unreal of a video that I had to watch it twice! Enjoy!**** ***Edit: as promised I came back to edit my comment and add the craziest perch video in KZread below!*** kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZYyO2JmmhpvFebA.html

Can I just ask all you people out there commenting about how you don't agree with live baiting, why are you here, watching a video that clearly states in the title "live baiting" for perch? I suggest you all f off and watch a video about dead baiting instead. Love your channel. Great video as always, keep em coming dude.

I do know for sure that fishing involves hooks going into fish, a reality which you seem to be uncomfortable with. ZeusesCannons in Croatia Barbel are so easy to catch whenever you see a barbel just throw me sweetcorn and then throw a few pieces of corn on a hook and it always bites that simple! I only got my first proper rod this year but last year I caught 3 big barbel in 10 minutes just with those rods which you use for minnows, which just have one circle at the end of it which you tie your line to and no reel

  • @taraskovacevic9345

ZeusesCannons I think that they bite on a lot of things, as they have also been known to feed on minnows, also maybe it would be harder to catch them in more heavily fished areas, but it seems to me they take on loads of different baits, and they put up much more of a fight than other fish I have caught of the same size

Wow!! Too many couch anglers in here crying about the poor little live bait ahahahahahaha You do realize what this is right? It's fishing, not a vegan assembly!! People getting over sensitive on fish-care, don't do this and don't do that need a reminder! Next fish you catch, take home, fry it, eat it, remember what the real meaning is to all this. Honor what nature gave you by EATING IT. The whole meaning of catch and release was to.... keep it healthy, so that you can take some more home in the future! Over sensitivity about a fish's life it's just a 21st century schizophrenic phenomenon just like the vegans are.

Amen to that brother, but, unfortunately we(or, at least the majority of people) are not true Christians lol thus everything we do has a selfish background... others? What others? Often, what we think of doing is not what originally triggered the action, is not what motivated the action. 99% of "C&R" anglers do it just because everyone else is doing it... and slowly becomes an obsession.

Caveman Protogonos LOL, you are so wrong...Using alive fish as a bait is torturing to the bait fish and fishing should not be torturing. using alive bait fish is pure cruelty to animals. Responsibility is part of fishing and that means for example not to cause unnecessary pain and suffering to animals. Sorry to say but you sound like weak and insecure wannabe psychopath teeny bopper who think that he is a tough guy when being cruel to helpless animals. Be a real man and be responsible on your actions. You give bad reputation all the good fisher and hunter by being a total asshole. ps. your ultimate egocentric way to see world and people's actions is unnatural. naturally humans are build to work together and do non-egotistic actions. In the time of cavemen you would be punished because of your sociopath and egocentric approach. Now you can play with your delusional ego and be a super egoistic, but that is a false which will backfire to you big time.

The Ginger Fisherman Yeah, the point was that it is cruelty to animals...every responsible fisher respect the nature and the animals. Specially you should respect fish, because you are a fisher. And because you make videos, which many watch. So they learn good and bad habits from you. You should specially think kids and children who watch your videos...

+merry ferry agreed, in a fast stream you can easily substitute a plastic fish or a long thin silver spoon. This is not a good image of fishing to broadcast, when our hobby is continually under threat from animal rights folks. Good fishing action and great footage, wish I had an aquarium like that but quit the live baits, it's not necessary.

+Trent Mcintosh I am not trolling. Fish also feel pain and suffer. There is lots of artificial bait for use. For 99% people fishing is a hobby, so no need for torturing the fish as a bait. Least what a fishers can do for the fish is not cause any unnecessary pain and suffering while fishers are practicing their hobby. In spite of the fact fisher take all from the fish, the life of the fish, they should not cause any unnecessary pain and suffering to the catch or other fish...

Biggest perch I ever caught while growing up in Saskatchewan was around one pound. Perch are really great fish to pan fry and eat as their meat is white, firm and flaky. As well, perch takes well being salted and dried for preserving over long periods of time but typically this is only a traditional Asian method of preserving fish for long periods of time where there were no means of refrigeration like we have today.

I appreciate that but in the UK we really pride ourself on catch and release especially due to the problems we’ve had over the years with these coarse fish

Another great video dude. So lucky to have such clear water. If you get chance I'd love to see an underwater lure video. Ned Rigs seem to be killing for Perch at the moment and as they are fished quite static it would be interesting to see fishes reactions. Keep up the good work in any event.

Great video. Beautiful fish. I’ve used circle hooks for a long time. I find that if you try to set the hook when a fish bites you will most likely pull the hook right out of it’s mouth. On the other hand, if you let them take off with the bait and then just reel down on them the hook finds it’s way to the corner of the mouth and sets itself. I love not injuring the fish.

Beautiful size perch. Circle hooks working great with near zero mortality. Probably a few big brown trout in that creek too.
