Thank you so much for the translated audio
In my experience Pike will pretty much eat anything it can fit in its jaws, be it bird, mammal, fish or amphibian.
Another great thought provoking video, and very well produced. A friend of mine used to use Jack pike for live bait's and had some good results. So yes I agree that Pike are Cannibals.
That was very entertaining and crystal clear video. Thank you.
Amazing footage, pike really are formidable hunters.
the speed and acceleration at which they lunge is spectacular, . . . especially considering the water drag and resistance ! Fascinating
Interesting to see how fast the pike realize that the lure is a fake... almost instantly they spit it out. Great video. Thumbs up!!
Great observation. If there were no weights on the front of the lures like you had them ,they would have had better action. If a lure has more action then the other then I think the lure with the better action would be struck first. But with your experiment they both had not much wobble in the lures. It was very interesting . Thank you for the video. Cheers from Canada.
This is some amazing footage! I'd love to see your test rig set up! We have lots of pike here in Wisconsin and they are very aggressive in the summer months. They are definitely and canabalistic fish just like large mouth bass. Anything they can fit in their mouths is fair game. I agree as well they will evaluate a competitor and take them out as well regardless of if it's another pike.
Great video and very enjoyable to watch. To me there is only Pike fishing that is interrupted with seasonal forays for Perch. Of all fish the Pike is the Rock N Roll of fishing, swagger, attitude and always ready to rumble if you annoy it enough.
Great video. Awesome to watch and I really enjoyed this. Thank you
Fascinating. Beautifully shot and produced.
Hi great video .I agree 100% with your conclusions .I have used the Savage Gear line through pike in the larger sizes with great effect last year (2019) on our local canals over here in the UK.
Great video. Thanks for the translation. I get alot more pike on my local canal than every other fisherman. I use the fox replicant pike soft lures. They love to smash into its head. So much I had to put a hook on to catch them as they never swallowed it. Just a hit and run on the gills.
Great Video! Thx! Greetings from Germany!
The pike starting getting suspicious at the end there...
Nice job !!! Love the footage.
Brilliant work Pal. 👍
This is my first time viewing your channel and I gotta say that was well done, in response to the question at the end i would say maybe a 360 view if possible
I just watched your video for the first time. You did a great job and will be watching more of your videos. And yes pike are territorial, seeing as where there live is a narrow canal is not surprising they're all relatively the same size. I'm more surprised as how many you came across w your lures. Keep up the good work.... I understand this was four years ago and have yet to watch any of your other content. But none the less!, If you're still alive, good work ol chap.
The pike seem to not attack the lure pike if the lure pike was behind the other lure, when the lures were side by side the real pike would attack the pike lure almost like saying "you look like friends and that is not allowed" just a coincidence but strange no the less. Great video.
I'm an avid Musky fisherman but nothing compares of the beauty look off the Great Northern Pike. This is the first time I've ever seen footage like this. Great camera views. How did you do that?
Great video mate - thanks for sharing - I have many pike lures and many of them are pike ;)
Amazing film, I had some very good jack pack imitations made by abu of sweden from the early 1980s , they were superb baits I took many pike over 20lbs with them, but these lures you have are on a different level of realism looks like you will have seriously good fishing with the hooks on!
Enjoyed a full-watch.👍🏽🙂
Love the naming of the lures 👍
awsome video:) great job! keep up the good work:)
thanks for sharing this video, verry interesting. What i found interesting is that pike can follow such a long time before attacking.
Well love the work, was wondering do you go outside Dublin at all lots of lovely loughs n rivers in co Fermanagh hint hint not to mention the erne system
wow, so awesome! thanks for the video!
This is a great video. I am just restarting fishing, pike too and I've heard they are cannibals and your video proofs they are. For me this means that I will buy new lures in pike too! I will tell you if it was successful and if there were differences Thank you!
It's always a pleasure to watch 👌
It looks like Mr Pike preferred Tommy the trout to some extent. I fly fish pike and I have a theory that blue, white and silver coloration initiate strikes vs the olive and brown more natural fish coloration. Pike and musky when observed near the surface on a sunny day in fact appear blue and white maybe because of light refraction or something but regardless I think color has a lot to do with pike strikes vs shape of the bait. I agree size has a lot to do with strikes as well but I'm not sure if they specifically target other pike. It could be they're predisposed to striking more slender baitfish like trout and other pike vs more "rounder" fish like perch and carp species. A very interesting experiment. Thanks for the cool video!
Excellent work, well done.....
excellent pro duction . well thought out , .
Some great footage. Reminds me of Canadian Northern Pike. As you'd be reeling one in, you'd see another following it. It was pretty wild. Freaked me out as a child on those fishing trips seeing that.
Northerns and musky are extremely territorial, I have caught both species where they have the scars of others on them.
Same thing ice fishing I hang huge shiners and bite off there tail. I got a 38 38.50 and 39.50 inch pike on crippled bait. Fish in under 4 ft deep next to shore in all of February. In Wisconsin at least.
Danke
Super awesome footage man!
You make Awesome movies ... Respect 👍🏻
Good science, sir! Well done.
Been using the same lure for months with no luck changed to same lure in pike pattern after watching this ,haven't blanked yet, Berkley juke shallow in pike 👍👌
I'm so happy that people almost halfway across the world can fish for such a beautiful species.!
Cool video n footage, pike fishing is always fun time with my kids.Good job showing us this thank you.

Fantastic filming Great job and your right about them being Cannibals. 😁😳
Great show, enjoyed it very much
great work, keep it up!
great videography! Would like to see more different Westin lures tested. THANKS!
Great video!
Great video, thank you
Amazed to see a pike grab a weeded lure. Never once in all my years have I had an 'enquiry' from a lure or a dead-bait that's been weeded to the least degree.
Love this. Keep up this interesting work i only imagined as a kid. I am interested in behaviours or perch, loach, tench, carp, sculpin, etc. In the usa there are paddlefish.... So many species and interesting international waters.
Nice film and beautiful pikes. 👍🏻
Great vid. How do you get such good footage? it would be great to see your camera set-up
Very interesting video. The 2 most popular lures seemed to be the pike and the trout, I wonder if when they strike the pike lure it is triggering a territorial response and the trout strikes are more of a feeding response due to that species hi fat/ caloric density. It reminded me of sharks that target hi fat species (seals) yet seem un-interested in other seemingly easier species to catch. The underwater film quality is great.
I'm just start to pike fish n have only caught one up to now this is very interesting n I will be try a pike lure to see if it bring me more bits, great experiment.
Pike eat pike for sure, also you do videos on how you make these videos. They are just soo good! Well done sir!
It was interesting to see that first they struck the lure perhaps by color or size but then they’d just follow the lure. I think if you put some jerking motion on it they’d hit even harder. Great video. Love Pike

What part of the canal are you fishing? What area or lock?
Awesome video
excellent video i do not fish for pike but no matter what fish i catch when bringing the fish to my net if there is pike around they tend to go for the fish that i have caught .also they attack the fish in my keep net . good work and i hope to see more of your videos .
I have fished for many years. I have opened the stomachs of many fish I kept to really know what they are eating. It is simple, when it comes to food, all predator fish will eat any species. All are cannibals. I have seen a 16" brown trout regurgitate a minimally digested 6" brown as it was brought to shore. I have found musky fry in walleyes. I have had a 40"+ northern try to get a 10" northern off my line at the boat. Your size observation is correct. All predators will demonstrate that, but none more than musky/northern pike. I have had bass and northerns attack lures bigger than they were. An evasive attempt will trigger a strike, while I have also had them hold and be towed while trolling. It feels like a small weed. And the funniest of all, on two consecutive days, the same time of day, with the same lure, I caught the same northern. This fish was 28" and identified by the bite scars on him. They were 10" apart. They do not learn to avoid anything. On one day out, we were down to the last lure that was working, when my friend got a snag in the weeds he could not free. I decided the best was to get through the obstructions and get the lure back was to throw the anchor and pull. It worked and I was cursed for having scared every fish for miles. On his third profanity laced cast, he caught the biggest northern of the day. On another day, after throwing four foot sticks for his two scottish terriers to retrieve in tandem, I decided to cast before we pushed the boat out. I caught a 38" northern. Throwing sticks for the dogs in those waters might not have been smart. For an idea to test, that seems to me to be true, see if large splashes attract northerns. I have seen credible reports that sharks display this behavior.
Hello How many number of hooks do you recommend as a thief to a silicon forge for a pike
I would say that this was a very interesting video, informative as well. I truly enjoyed it. It was great watching the pike attack the lures in slow motion. Most interesting was how quickly they could determine the lures were not the soft bodies of real fish. The whole video was great , i gave you thumbs up and subscribed, I want to see what you already did and what you are doing in the future. Well Wishes Sir
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Awesome video!

SUPER! :)
Very Interesting Testing!
im enjoying taking all this in at the moment as im just getting into pike fishing. dont know if you have a video on what set up to get for new to the hobby as a pike fishing ..
well done for retrieving the cut off lure.
The one around 6:30 made a pretty good go of swallowing that lure! I didn't realise pike were so fast till now, either - scary buggers.
cool video, thank you :)
what an incredible follow.... that fish watched the yellow paper clip for a long time.
Nice video
ok Im never falling out of the boat again ...... YEEK !
It also looked like "Mike the Pike" had some 'paper clips' hanging on the underside that were clicking and attracting their attention. It almost looked like they were curious about the clips and not interested about the potential food after noticing the clips. It definitely looked as if they would attack the bait, until they noticed the clips and became curious about the clips. But, I've noticed that all fish are cannibalistic. Big fish will eat smaller fish. They have a very simple attitude about life. "Can I eat it or will it eat me?" I once saw a big Flathead Catfish (over 30 inches) with a Big Blue Catfish hanging out of it's mouth. The big Blue was only about 3 inches shorter than the Flathead. Personally, I don't know how he kept from choking.
Супер видео!!! Качество отпад!👍👍👍
I goth the impression that the Pike were more interested in the lures that waggled more. As I would expect.
Pike here in Wisconsin are like sharks, eating anything they can grab. Ducks, fish, turtles, frogs, etc... I prefer live bait, especially where there is fishing pressure. I have pulled several pike at a time from a spot that gets hammered by fishermen daily using artificials. There are stories of local muskies ambushing squirrels by putting acorns on an emergent stump a few feet from shore and waiting for the squirrels to jump to the stump. I have heard the same story from multiple fishermen who did not know each other. I also know that chipmunks and small squirrels make awesome bait. ; )
Wow, very effective lures.
i live in Northern Ontario Canada lots of Pike here i really like to fish for them magnificent great gamefish just think they want to eat all that is available enjoyed your video

Love fishing Pike in Michigan, wish they got as big here as in Canada.
Very cool mate, love your underwater footage, I’ve found at certain times on a local stretch of river, that the pike will favour a smaller bait over a larger one. Me and my mate had our baits out, he had a large trout deabait and I had a small bream dead, the large pike took mine over the larger one. On other occasions he’s had lots of pike on big trout and I’ve had none with a roach of the same size. All very interesting!
Are you sure this is the Grand Canal? I didn't see a single shopping cart!
Great info pop on the naysayers
so many pikes in this water and very stunning footage
Your videos seem to show that they definately prefer a good trout dinner over a competitor. But the rest of the time, they were taking out future competition. It's interesting how much they examine the bait before making their decision to strike. One seemed very curious as to what the bait pike 'Mike' was chasing and should he go after the clicking thing Mike was chasing. I would like to see some video where 'Mike' suddenly sees his attacker and 'tries' to escspe.
