I haven't played Monster Hunter yet (will get Rise soon) this game appeals to me more than the original series. I like the idea of befriending and building up a team out of the series's iconic monsters. With Pokemon dropping in quality, I look forward to scratch that creature collecting itch! 👀

People can still play the first one. The first game was my intro to monster hunter genre. After playing both World and MHS, I personally like the stories of MHS. Can’t wait!

Seems a lot don't even know the game exists on iOS and Android ad well, not just 3ds I've started with the oldest of the franchise and never noticed there even was a game like this until one day I saw the trailer and once enough money, I immediately bought stories 🤷 such a lovely and addictive game. Never really got into World for some reason tbh but Rise is fine and S2 will probably be my favorite of all again

Summer is just the perfect time for a nice cosy jRPG.

I'd say "Sounding" is arguable, I know Game Freak has always sucked at programming, but their soundtrack were always super impressive considering the hardware they were using. Yeah, it's the "trendy" thing with the kids take to hate on them these days, but I prefer to at least giving credits where it's due... We have no idea of how Stories 2's full soundtrack will be, so who knows? Maybe the full product will be even more mind-blowing.

@@LonesomeDevil yeah pokemon soundtracks are very good, in fact incredible, but that's just a tiny portion of the audio. there are sounds and noises pokemon make, they are still gen 1 level sounds apart from just pikachu, they are absolutely horrible. then there are other sounds, like bumping into objects, taking steps, riding your bicycle. All those are horrible in pokemon or non-existent. lastly is voice of human characters. voice acting, there is 0 sounds for this, not even animal crossing or even LoZ sounds. in terms of sounds, Monster Hunter Stories 2 will definitely be much much better. All AAA games got better sounds than pokemon.

@@LonesomeDevil ​ I will also give credit to GameFreak where it is due, out of my own experience with their games. I, like many other kids during the 10-or-so age range, absolutely used to adore Pokémon. But really, who hasn't at some point in their lives? In regards to the soundtrack, I will say that while Pokémon's soundtrack never did blow me away like other games did (again, speaking on behalf of my own experience with the games), I had a soft spot for some of their tracks. The Cobalion/Virizion/Terrakion theme will always be a banger, for example. But music isn't all their is to it. Walking, monster sounds, gathering, VOICE ACTING - this and dozens of other sound-design elements go in favor of MHS. You're right, we don't know the full soundtrack, but you can tell from this trailer and previous ones that there is going to be better sound design in this game than what GameFreak has been willing to dish out. Sure, many kids are hating on GameFreak because it's "trendy", and in part you may be right about my own reasons why I made this comment. But I criticize GameFreak because it used to be my childhood. It's like thinking your uncle is great because he gives you candy when you see him, but as you get older you come to realize that he was a really bad alcoholic who was all and all just kinda scummy to other family members (extreme example, but you get the picture). If you want, I can explain why I feel this way about GameFreak, but I'm sure you probably would be perfectly content without hearing it. But rest assured, there is a reason for the distain.

No, you can jump right in with this one! There are a few returning characters, but this story will be entirely its own, so you won’t have to worry about the events of the first game to understand this one.

Nah. Like others have said, there are some references, but the narrative is independent from the first.

Normally I would compare this with the Pokémon franchise , but meanwhile Monster Hunter has its own charm and the environment looks just beautiful. You should take notes of this, *Game Freak* .

Not to be rude I grew up with the games but why put under the monster hunter video and not the main Nintendo direct

I never played any monster hunter game before but this trailer during Nintendo's E3 caught my eye. I just finished the demo, I played it for over 5 hours 😂 Needless to say I pre-ordered the deluxe version and I can't wait for release!

No there will be references to the first monster hunter stories but nothing towards the main series. however the first monster hunter stories is a lot of fun and you might appreciate some of the returning characters more. But that’s just my opinion

You don't need any other games but stories one which is on mobile and 3ds is a lot of fun and if you want to try the main series I suggest rise or Generation ultimate as rise is the most modern monster hunter and gu will show older monsters that aren't in rise and the old game style from the first 4 gens which is harder

Not exactly. Pokemon depends on elemental advantages. This, like Dragonball Fusions, is based on rock - scissors - paper fighting mechanics. Elements exist, but are not part of fighting system.

Unlike (recent) Pokemon games, in Stories you actually have to make meaningful decisions and the battles don't come down to just "oh my opponent has only fire pokemon I win cause I have a water pokemon".

@@SpinDoctor91 Now that you mention BotW, I suppose the first one did start you off in an enclosed area similar to the Plateau, but Horizon Zero Dawn and several other recent RPGs have done that too. As far as the art style goes, people have been comparing literally anything cell shaded to BotW. I would still say that has more in common with Pokemon, especially with the more cartoonish proportions.
