This aftermarket vs oem debate is confusing and stale at the same time. OEMs remind me of michelin tires. Usually good but expensive as hell. I have used Monroe quick struts and KYB pre-assembled. The Monroes were on my 2003 Lexus sedan. They were great performers for what i did with the car, mainly highway and plodding around. They outlasted the car. They rode similar to OEM. I put KYBs on a Lexus RX350. I had help putting them in and theybrode great. 100k on them and no loss of ride or control. I have the same on a Honda Pilot and there has been some degradation of ride in less than 50 k miles. To be fair, i didtow a 2500 lb trailer for 1k miles. People have different experiences for sure. If druving a lot of miles on bad roads, the KYBs might be an ok choice. If driving around smooth highway it doesnt make a difference. If youre the road racer type, then Koni, Bilstein and KYB will work.

Used Monroe front end. Raised the front .50 inches. After 4 months the new springs did not compress at all. Should have stuck to OEM

Thiner springs mean a softer ride. Bigger isnt always better. Thicker ride rougher

Actually not true. The spring material can be different. Like high carbon steel versus stainless springs. Stainless can have a higher spring rate yet be thinner. However I'm sure the quick struts are not using stainless. They would be 3 times the price.

I installed a pair of Monroe Quick Struts on my 03 Mazda MPV. The Monroes look exactly the same as the old factory stock ones, even the tool marks are idemtical. I suspected Monroe was reselling OEM parts. The ride is great the new monroes.

Does any company make a quality quick strut & one that doesn't raise the car? It's not too difficult for the companies to match the units height

Don’t buy Monroe quick struts you are better off spending the extra cash on the OEM Struts. They will give out easily and it will be more expensive in the long run due to the labor cost. This happened to me twice. I wouldn’t want this to happen to anybody else.

@@al78582 labor cost for quick struts? The idea of them is anyone can change them themselves no need for a mechanic it's easy 4 bolts on 99% of them.

Always use OEM struts/shocks over aftermarket, they last 3 times longer and drive smoother than cheaply made aftermarket ones!

Hopefully this is helpful. I have these quick struts also with a little over 40k miles. They ride ok. The first few thousand miles were great. After that it’s been mellow. Not as smooth as the stock units. These aren’t bad for the price but when I need to replace the struts, I’m definitely going back to OEM strut assembly. Overall they’re ok. They hold up well. Great on price but again, OEM is the way to go long term. Hope this helps.

Monroe are among the least for replacement parts. The oem spring allows for a quicker response time, keeping the tire to the surface

Stay away from those complete struts and rear shocks. Ive had terrible experiences with these. I’ve installed these two times and they usually give out after around 50,000miles. Also the ride quality will definitely not be the same. These are bouncy and your ride will be higher. As per the spring it will cause your ride to be rougher.

Monroe has crap quality, there the only quick strut ive had to make 2 warrenty claims for top mounts being assembled wrong, 1 made noise turns out there was a recall on that model another the top mounts would not line up to install correct part for the auto just assembled wrong at factory.
