Monroe I Importance of Priming Shocks & Struts

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Most shocks and struts are designed to function in a vertical or up and down position. However, before they are installed, they are generally stored on their side. Prior to installation, it is important to prime the shocks or strut. Learn why priming shocks and struts are important to ensure optimal performance. If it hasn't been primed how long before it operates as it should?

I love how this digital mechanic can compress those shocks with just one hand... Must be installing them on a smart car, because if he was doing this on a truck, it would punch a hole right through his hand!

Apparently you never dealt with twin tube shocks which don't push up hard, and even in the video you see how they go up slow. I've pushed down Bilstein b4s and koni no problems

I installed Monroe matic plus on my 04 ram1500 i forgot to prime. Is it imperative to prime or will it eventually be ok?

Just realized I did the same for my front shocks that I installed a couple hours ago, I didn’t do it for my rear a couple months ago either

KYB has a firmer ride. I drove a customer's PT Cruiser into the shop a few years ago. They had brand new KYB's. They were the Excel G's if I remember correctly. I have the Monroe OESpectrum on my car. My dad mentioned that it rides like a mid-sized car once. I need to replace my shocks and struts again because the left front is leaking. I'll be getting the same ones again.

When priming my new Monroe 33182 shocks for my old Xterra they do not extend to the same length even after repeated priming. One consistently remains half an inch shorter than the other. Is that all right to install or will it cause an issue?

Ya I'm just going to leave mine sitting upright for a few days. I don't think it really matters though.

I now try to only buy Gabriel shocks . Why? Look at their history. The longest running shock company in the world. They invented the hydraulic shock! For the money, they offer the best value. They have a great reputation! They are named after the Angel that told Mary she was pregnant with Jesus! That's just cool! They have sold more shocks than anybody else! My go to shock!
