2016 Freightliner Cascadia, installed 4 rear MONROE shocks, 2 of them started leaking within 2 weeks and under 2000 miles driven, Freightliner did say there is 1 year warranty on parts,
this is the second time that I purchased Monroe struts from Rockauto within a month. First order, the rod did not extend back after compressed. Second order, the compressed both rods down, one fully extended within a minute, other took like 5 minutes. Two new struts why one strut took more than 5 times longer? Should listen to my friend of getting different brands.
There's better kits out there that won't require missing the rear bump stops. And there is a better way to get ride of the error message and the cluster info for air ride.

BAD experience with OESpectrum and with Monroe support. I ordered these shocks for my 2013 Nissan Frontier from RockAuto. I primed and hand tested them.First front shock depressed easy and never returned.Second one depressed hard with jerking motions.First rear shock was permanently stuck-I could not depress it at all.Second one depressed and it took forever to return. I ordered new set.Both front shocks depressed half way on empty, then with some resistance and returned the same way, first slowly then they jumped fast all the way up.First rear shock depressed very easy and returned immediately.The second one depressed harder and returned very slow. I have never seen so much inconsistency.I tried to contact Monroe tech support, but they never replied.
I now try to only buy Gabriel shocks . Why? Look at their history. The longest running shock company in the world. They invented the hydraulic shock! For the money, they offer the best value. They have a great reputation! They are named after the Angel that told Mary she was pregnant with Jesus! That's just cool! They have sold more shocks than anybody else! My go to shock!

Hi I’m replacing model #’s 71116/71117 and I received 71116UB/71117UB stamped on them and there are some noticeable differences Came in Monroe packaging with 71116/71117 on the box I noticed the fork shaft is different not only is it different but the fork is actually tack welded onto the shaft. Is there anything else holding it on there? The compression resistance is quite a bit less than the original spectrums, and the strut rod seal cap is completely different Anyone know what I’m dealing with?
I'm considering these also. I saw another customer on Amazon that got two different types also but no one else mentioned it happening to them. If it were me I'd return or exchange them because somethings really off with that set. I hear KYB is a really good brand and on mine they're only a few dollars more. Unless a YT channel has a huge following and a ton of comments they really should answer comments. I don't have much respect for channels that don't. Hope your repair job goes well.
@@DeepSouthTechie I got them from rock auto in original Monroe packaging that says OE spectrum reflex, but I think there’s a revision that doubles the price with better shaft seals, and I know which Amazon review you’re talking about. They did get the correct strut. They just thought they were being duped because there’s a red sticker over the OE spectrum that’s what they do on their quick struts, I have an Infiniti G 35 I’m sure the struts I got are good yet budget level which is OK because I don’t track the car or anything like that at double the cost for heavy duty I don’t think I need that, i’ve never returned anything to rock auto, but since you can’t talk to anybody that in itself is a pain in the ass and sounds like it’ll take a long time to actually get a refund
@@DeepSouthTechie no the quick struts have the heavy duty version and they’re only $109 each at rock auto right now. I should go that route.
@@stopher1971 I didn't want to go with a higher priced version but don't want to have to replace them again in a year either, lol. I have an older model Van that doesn't get driven much and is always on pavement when it does. These were a step above the standard hydraulic shocks but not very expensive so that's why I was considering them. Yeah that sounds like the same guy I was talking about on Amazon. I guess they use the same comments across the board no matter the vehicle type. If it's a daily driver and not on it's last leg like my Van I'd say $109 per shock is well worth it if they're reputable. I never really cared much for Rock Auto's Web page. Looks like something out of the 90's, lol. But they do seem to have decent prices. I've never ordered from them though so can't comment on that.

I just received some new OE spectrum struts model numbers 71116 and 71117, as I look at them, they have stamped 71116UB and 71117UB, they look different than the OE spectrum I pulled off of my car. The fork shaft looks different and the strut rod seal cap looks different. Also, the new ones have a lot less resistance when I compress them than the ones I pulled off of the car, they are also half the price of the ones I pulled off the car which are 71116/71117, is there two different grades or something? They have the OE spectrum sticker on them one stickers on the top of one and one stickers on the bottom of one , anyone know what I’m dealing with here?

This video was awesome!!! you showed every step, showed how to get it done. My local Dodge dealership "Legacy" in Florence SC quoted me $6800 for the air suspension repair. There's no way! He told me the compressor was $4k. That's bologna. I looked at every site I could find. An OEM compressor was $299. I decided to convert the system over to a conventional shock and strut because I have made friends with a bunch of Jeepers and we've done probably 4 lift kits in the past year so this seemed do-able for our crew. Time was the only thing in our way. This is mid November and the holidays had everyone booked doing other things. Luckily a friend works at Black's Tire here in Florence SC. He said they could do the job because he watched your video and it looked so simple. Apparently everyone with air ride suspensions are having an issue with them failing at some point and the question is asked so much on how to convert it over, you guys made a video and sell a conversion kit!! I have a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 just like the one in this video. I looked up the product code, found a good deal on Rock Auto for $559.83 , and Black's Tire put it on for $773.95. It saved $5466.22 doing this!! Thank you so much!! I have a podcast and youtube channel (Stuff I Heard) I'll be talking up Monroe there. Great move for customer loyalty to begin. It has here now. I put monroe loaded shock & struts in a 2008 dodge magnum sxt. After install the car sits awkwardly high, but the worst part is the rear tires are wearing oddly, 1 tire is wearing on the outside, the other is wearing on the inside. I wonder it thats a shock/spring isssue, as my magnum RT required offset bushings when i put lowering springs on it.
We installed the conversion kit and removed the mentioned fuses and relay while batterie connected and remove battery connection and reconnect. But still We are getting a air suspension warning at start up still. Any advise? How we can remove the service air suspension warning? Thank you

my friends and I bought bunch of Monroe struts and shocks during 2023 promotions and did not receive the rebate cash back from Monroe. We kept calling until Monroe sent us digital card that we need to activate in order to use. When when you activate, it freezes. Everyone of us got the same results. First they did not send us the cash rebate and now they sent us digital card and it does not work. The way they operate is very shady. We never have any issue with KYB when they offer promotions.

Doing the Kit exactly as video.Less the lift.Front -L was 1st had to use long metal concrete pole to dislodge the upper ball joint as pickle forks did not work.Was a real tough nut.was also very heavy to lift new strut up and have holes align.Used a 2x2 19" to hold down so it would fit in .Not as easy as video.But very doable for the reg guy.On to pass side today with my tips i learned.
Monroe shocks outperform leaked out OEM shocks....... That's about it !
I can get oems for 80 dollars more over the Monroes, should I get that instead?

Why do they sell modules for $400+ to keep warning lights off when you can just take all them fuses out. Do the lights come on after you take all them fuses out?
I heard just taking the fuses out, does not solve that message. AirDelete will rent you a programmer, but only if you buy their kit. You get your deposit back on the programmer, once you return it.

the rear spring did not seat properly on my ram 1500 2013. And it did not fit the 2 inch levelling kit as well. Is that normal?

Ordered 3 Monroe RoadMatic struts for my SUV. Two of them had springs that were not properly seated in the spring seats and the third one was leaking in the box when I opened it. Returned the first two that weren't seated properly, but not sure if I should send back the one with weepage as well. Any advice? Cheers

I bought the quick struts for my Lexus RX300. They are junk. Very rough ride. Going to take them back and get OEM. I also got the Quick Struts for my Toyota Tacoma and my truck has squeaked ever since. I have used Monroe for 50 years but not ever again.

As far as I understand, struts are shocks that include the spring coil component. Shocks do not have springs. Hope that helps
