Price for this amp here in Canada is just north of 2K. I'm on the fence with purchasing this amp for my 7.1.2. Only other amp that can probably compete with the Monolith (power rating wise) would be Emotiva's XPA-5 gen 3 which is pricier, or Tonewinner TW-AD5300 which is about $1,600. Marantz MM7055 seems overpriced and inaccurately advertised. Besides buying a used amp (which I'm hesitant to do), the Monolith or the Tonewinner would be something to consider for reasonably priced.

@@blazermdx Thanks! I'd wanted some Focal's for a while now, and with that unreal deal, I couldn't NOT do it, ya know? Big expense, but, I'm 58 so this will be the last upgrade I'll ever need. The amp is a minor expense compared to the Focals. I SHOULD be able to use the RCA outs on my current Onkyo TX-RZ820 (currently powering 7 Polk TSi-400's) and the 12v trigger to run the Monolith. This should be more than enough for any listening I'll ever do! I found that movies, or live music DVD's are SO much more immersive when you have full-range speakers for all the channels instead of having large or larger speakers only for the front and smaller channels for the surrounds. Having a full range speaker for the center channel REALLY brings out the dialog. Any vocals with, say, Morgan Freeman, or the voice of Venom in the Marvel movies REALLY puts you back in your seat. This should make all that just that much more amazing. Can't wait! I'm just wondering if I'm going to have an electrician come in and run a dedicated 20amp socket for the Monolith. I THINK I can simply have them go into the attic and run a dedicated line from my breaker box to the existing wiring to the socket...I hope.

The Monolith amps are assembled by ATI in California but they are assembled with parts from China that Monoprice supplies to ATI to use for assembly. It’s probably appropriate to say that ATI assembles the Monolith amps and not builds the Monolith amps because the last time I checked, ATI was only contracted to assemble the amplifier. Hmmm. That’s a good question. Since I’m hoping to keep this channel more geared towards those bargain hunters and beginners out there, I’m not sure that I would at this stage I’m at in this hobby. That might hurt me a little but I’m just being honest. Id like to improve things when it comes to my technique and editing so I might change my opinion, if I can manage to make these improvements. Haha!

I’m with you! Having owned quite a few mid-grade amplifiers over the years, I was honestly expecting a bit more. But this is no doubt a great value, when it comes to amplifiers, so I’m sure the number crunchers needed to save wherever possible. Small complaint but a complaint, none the less. Thanks for stopping by again Cole!

@Average Guy Hi-Fi As a number cruncher myself they could offer upgraded binding posts at a stupid markup and then guys like me get what we want they can super rip off my craziness lol

Have zero effect on the quality of sound. I cam from Parasound. Compared them and sold the Parasound...and pocketed the rest of the money

@Gabriel Tech Reviews I am 100% in agreement that they do not effect performance but it doesn't change for the price of equipment I like nice quality feel

Absolutely. Zero impact on sound, just being a little nit-picky, so I don’t come off sounding like a fanboy. I’d take these binding posts at a lower price vs more expensive binding posts for more money.

I don’t believe ATI makes any components in the Monolith amplifiers, which is probably the main reason why you see a massive price difference between comparable Monolith amps vs ATI amps.

After all the research I’ve done, which mainly consisted of forums and reviews, I read that ATI makes the components for Monoprice and then Monoprice assembles them. Now I also don’t believe that ATI would use the exact same parts, due to the vastly different price-points. Ive read that the Monolith 7 and the ATI AT 4000 are nearly identical on the inside. I tried to point this out in the video but I really appreciate your feedback here as this is the type of comments that I want. I want my videos to be as basic and accurate as possible so I’ll keep digging on this subject. Thanks for stopping by!

@@blazermdx I think you’re video was very on point and pretty accurate. I did a lot of research awhile back when I was looking at buying new amps for my theatre and ATI was the company I targeted for new amps. Then I saw that ATI was making amps for Monoprice and looked into that. That when I found out that the parts inside the Monolith is basically the main difference. ATI makes so much of their own components, like the transformers and the output stages. I’m sure there are more things they make themselves. I think ATI overbuilds their equipment, which is debatable on what that is worth. No doubt ATI makes really nice stuff, but it comes with a pretty heavy price, which you mentioned pretty clearly in your video. Monoprice definitely delivers better performance per dollar.
