Jonah is insecure about not being taken seriously so it was big of him to give it up to Leo like this. But I imagine its easier to do that when you respect them as a friend as much as Jonah seems to with Leo

+Zulamun Al Pacino got robbed for Dog Day Afternoon and didn't get nominated for Scarface, Robert De Niro got robbed twice for Taxi driver and Awakenings. Gary Oldman and Brad Pitt robbed a number of times and still have never won for acting. Joaquin Phoenix got robbed for 'Master'. Will smith got robbed for 'The pursuit of Happyness', the list goes on. Oscars do not define legends, their work will speak for themselves. People will never tell you De Niro and Pacino are great because they have an oscar, rather because of their numerous performances.

You can really see Leo's experience as an actor here. His demeanor is so calm and cool.

It was scripted.
Leo has made so many great movies, but "Blood Diamond" sticks out because he is so believable in a very difficult role. His performance lifted that entire movie. What a great friend to come and support Jonah.

People can't believe Leo was there and even they didn't expect it, it can be said due to the yelling and the shouts of surprise. This got to be the best SNL opening ever, really! The chemistry between Hill and Di Caprio is so contagious and spontaneous. Leo is a hell of an actor but give him some credit to Jonah.
One of the best friendships in Hollywood... these guys are golden as a duo! 😃

Well I agree. But I also agree that it is a huge risk, not one that will end his career but it will certainly scar that modern legend status that he worked so hard for to get. I may be wrong but I don't see Leo as a character you don't take seriously when he acts. His air reeks with seriousness and drama but, who knows, he might be a good enough actor to pull off comedy.

It's a really beautiful moment to see, because you know Jonah's got insecurities, and he's been through a lot, and to get one of the biggest and most reclusive star in Hollywood that you almost never see outside of a big movie screen (or paparazzi magazine) to come out and show support and friendship like that, he must have felt even better than getting nominated at that moment.

As a fan of Leo, I really can't stop watching this.
This has to be one of the best monologues ever
How times flies by. I remember when i was younger, and Leo was young. Now he is one of the most recognizable and prestigious performers of this generation. Talented and charismatic, too. I am happy for him. He certainly deserves it!
Leo is a great actor, since he was a child, I am seeing older films of him now that I am grown. The movie with robert de Niro as his stepfather. He deserves more than one Oscar
The Leo's laugh at 3:21 is his genuine laugh.
Leo aged like some damn fine wine, what a lucky bastard.
The only time I've really seen Leo out-performed was by Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York.

His character was amazing and I can't think of anyone that would've done a better job. Tough as hell, yet showed compassion. "Hated" priest Vallon but respected the f#^ck outta him. Too good!
