dont seek happiness, as you will only ever crave more and more, seek peace and then the happiness will stick around forever.

the past is like a library, dwelling on the past without analysing our memories (in order to learn from them) is like sitting in still in a library and not reading any books.

That's really interesting to think about, happiness can act like a drug in our lives. Really agree with that. Like you said, if we keep on chasing things that make us happy, we will fall into a vicious cycle, where we destroy ourselves without even knowing... Y'know, in life, problems, fights, difficulty's - everything that we can call bad - comes at us. If we spend our lifes chasing after happiness, this moment's will definitely break us apart. But if we are at "peace" with all of this problems, knowing that they will come even if we are a really good person, everything gets better, and happiness comes along - not the same type of happiness that people chase, but with no doubt, happiness. One thing worth pointing is that in this world we can have what we want or what we need. Sometimes they colpase and we get both, sometimes we can only choose one of then, other times we can't choose. But when the opportunity arrives, what will we choose? What we need, or what we want? That selection will kill one type of happiness - the pure emotional one - but will make the other type - the grateful, with a peace of mind state - rise and grow. When the opportunity arrives, chose what you need. Even if it doesn't look like the right thing to do, it will always produce on us the best type of happiness.

what a beautiful way to think about it. its really difficult to put into words, but once you feel at peace you start to worry less about feeling happy or about feeling sad, and you really just feel "alive". you feel grateful, you feel awake, you feel like you have a purpose.

Happiness is often viewed as the feeling which you get when a lot of dopamine is released in your brain. This might occur due to external sensations, like through tasting some food we like, hearing beautiful sounds or seeing a beautiful view. If we chase after this type of happiness, artificially creating it more and more in our lives, we will eventually end up in a loop of craving for dopamine, while our brain will adapt to the new amounts of it and start asking for more to let us feel the same way. True happiness is, at least as far as I can tell for my self, is often independent of short-term dopamine. As you said, inner peace, achieved through all the external factors like a healthier life style or spending time with people/activities you love brings a feeling much more valuable satisfaction than short-term happiness. Of course its still "the small things in life, which make it beautiful", but only as long as they aren't artificially created and overconsumed. The feeling of the happiness involves a general balance in life and in the mind, which is what everybody should crave to achieve. I got to admit that I often feel down myself and try to get out of the bad mood just by pumping dopamine in my brain. But still the process of achieving this "inner peace" doesnt take that much time and effort, as one could think. Thanks a lot for "reminding" me again with this video, it really made me overthink again, which things are important for me in life and which only cause unnecessary stress. Also loved the more structured approach for the video, so keep it up :) Have a good day 👋

Couldnt agree more with this philosophy especially the dwelling on the past section, although I believe its important to recognize and make peace with the past, whether it be forgiveness, or accepting what happened was negative. As long as we learn to accept and learn from the past to build a better future.

It's nice to see such accurate recommendations... as for the brain type, it's been really confusing for me for the last year. I've noticed that in most subjects in my studies (especially the ones I don't understand) it takes me a long time to understand what is being said. It depends on what the teacher is asking me or if there is a discussion. Sometimes I catch myself thinking that I seem to be floating in the clouds while the lecture is going on. I don't sleep well, even though I go to bed early. And it's hard for me to study computer science because I want to sleep right away. I don't know what's wrong with me, but thank you.

have you ever talked to a doctor about that? i was undiagnosed with ADHD for the longest time, it wasnt until i found the right doctor that really dug deep into my mental that we started to figure out my real problems. for the longest time i struggled to read because id forget the page as i would drift into a day dream haha

Unfortunately, no, because I live in a society where it is not popular. I took an online test for ADHD, but it seems that the diagnosis was not confirmed at the time. However, I have noticed that I often fail to remember information the first time I read it. This means that I may read a page or a definition and not understand it immediately. Or forget it in a minute... I don't know how it works. However, the last iQ test showed that I scored 110-115, but does that make sense? @@liamthetree

Unfortunately, or fortunately, no. My society is not ready for this yet, because most people believe that problems can only be physical, i.e. injury or illness. That's why some psychological issues are perceived as if "you've made something up to avoid working". However, I once took an online test, and it seemed that I was a few points short of having ADHD. I get tired very quickly when I start studying, learning new programming languages, or doing something for my studies. Although I sleep 7 hours on average, I have no bad habits, because I haven't drunk alcohol or smoked for almost 4 years. I also actively work out and try to eat well. Also, when I read, I often either start floating in the clouds or just read words and letters without understanding what is being said. Then I reread and reread, and it's as if I'm reading some ancient scrolls. The last time I took an iQ test (we did it at the university in psychology), I got between 110-115. Is this good or bad? I don't know. But I'm not happy with my slowness. @@liamthetree

On the topic of genes; another thing to note is that genetics aren't "blueprints" that's an outdated and just plain incorrect view of genes that still lingers today. Genes can actually change quite a bit in your life due to environmental factors.
