Am 58 retiring next year but the thought of retirement gives me weakness. My apologies to everyone who have retired and filing social security during this time after putting in all those years of work just to lose everything to a problem you never imagined to happen. It’s so difficult for people who are retired and have no savings or loved ones to fall back on.

When I was a kid (80s) I worked on farms to be able to afford my first computer to learn to code. Today I make large database run faster with software to be able to afford living on a farm with many animals (large and small). Money is a tool to achieve your goals. It's been more than 3 weeks since I left my property. I see more animals that people and love this "simpler" life.

Well, if you don’t need to maintain a good credit score, or are on Medicaid, you don’t need any money for healthcare in the US. Most people in hospitals don’t pay their bill. If you do pay your bill, you are actually paying for 3-5 or more people. That’s why it seems expensive.

The best years of my life were when I sold everything, packed a bag, and lived in a park for three and a half years while I worked and saved all my money. Never spent a dime on anything. Complete and total freedom in the truest sense of the word. The more money I saved, the less important it became because I also learned how to get by without it. Maximizing money while minimizing dependence on it is peak freedom.

People work hard, honest (and yes, smart too), in this system, but the only one who's getting rich are the very few who own what the worker has produced/invented/generated. This is how the system works and only a few lucky individuals can escape it. If workers start to learn about their own's class true value and power, and how to organize, only then things can change for the better.

All thanks to the Prussian model of education, aimed at making soldier citizens, hence why schools look like prisons, with alarm rings for recess time, prison like hallways and whatnot. It’s only missing the bars. The US and the west imported that but aimed at the industrial side of things: to use that system to create drone workers, soon after income tax came in. It’s hard to not believe it was a master plan, but that would be giving too much credit I think.

The problem with money is that it gives too much access into unnecessary things and encourages over consumption. That makes life complicated and confuses people into using money to try new experiences, hoping to be happy. The cause of course is ignorance, because the problems are health related - internal, and money in most cases become a distraction and not an assistant.

thats exactly it, especially in the modern childless or absent-parenting life. consumption is a replacement for any kind of real achievement or satisfaction in life, and like a drug the only way to feel close to the same feeling is to consume more. when the mind is weak, propaganda(ads) make you feel worse about what you have and that you'll feel better if only you get this new phone/shoes/car/etc.

You absolutely right. People with money saved up and don’t use their whole paycheck can operate differently. They can tell a boss “no” without the fear of losses their job without becoming behind in finances. Companies take advantage of people who use their whole check and have no savings.

Even savings dry out eventually. You should invest in order to maintain a level playing field. If not use the money maintain bills and housing. Take a trip once every three months that's it. Keep bills paid repeat

I'm currently unemployed. I can make do with what I have. Some think it's the biggest sin not to work. They can piss off with their jobs that enable them to buy stuff to impress other people that don't really like them. The last job I had was really stressful and I got a nervous breakdown, the people there were obsessive workaholics who even talked about work during lunch breaks. At an earlier job i was berated for taking coffee from the coffeemaker, coffee was only for managers and customers, ordinary workers could only get half a glass of water in the morning. I didn't last long at both jobs, I can't work like a robot. I'm not in a hurry to find another job. I don't have much friends, the ones I do don't call me a benefit scrounger behind my back when out of work or unambitious when in work (since I'm not striving to become a micro manager like them). Work sucks!

Have you considered a part-time job or side hustle? something little to generate income can go s long way. Toxic work environments suck. I’ve been there and had shitty coworkers/bosses. It’s such a good feeling when you put in your two weeks because you found a better job. The best feeling is money you made outside of your job.

If you're currently unemployed then at least focus on developing a skill that you'd really like to have, such as carpentry or welding sculptures or glassmaking or auto body work etc and find a job (or create one) with that skill instead of watching 'money is a psyop' copium on youtube. I'm assuming you're on welfare/benefits if you're unemployed and still able to 'make do', so you have a lot of free time and the ability to take on risks without worrying about bills or expenses; don't waste it.

I agree, I left the US just because of how much I hated the 9-5 grind Monday through Friday with a long commute on top just to scrape by. I was making 150k at the time and it felt like my life was going nowhere. Ever since I left the US I was able to feel true freedom and happiness. I assume how I feel now is how I'd feel if I lived in the US but made 500k a year instead and had a job I absolutely loved. Unfortunately that wasn't in the cards for me.

@@Alex_-oc4btThis is GOLDEN advice. Rejecting the rat race is easy. The hard part is staying out of it and being better off than you would inside of it. Enjoy the time out. But also use it to learn. Like the ‘teach a fisherman to fish’ parable: knowledge + skills = permanent independence.

I quit my job and spent the last 8 years living in very cheap countries, travelling a lot and doing freelance work to stay afloat. I recently decided to bring my coding skills up to date and did a bunch of courses. Because I'm not doing it for money, I really love it. It's the 9-5 jobs that suck all the life out if it.

It’s really not 10$ spent. It not taking into account rent, or if you own your house there’s a basic cost of certain things as well. The truth is because he’s a millionaire it only feels to him like he spends $10 a day. Most people out there have to spend almost their whole paycheck on rent. It’s bleak out there right now. There’s a very big difference between a millionaire and a lower class person who has to squabble at these low paid abusive jobs endless just to have basic needs met.

Coming from a country with x5 less wages and same prices as USA I can tell you 10$ is what we spend here for food, but at the same time food is the same everywhere... So technically you can live of 10 bucks if you own your house and only go for groceries.

In many nice areas property tax is thousands of dollars a year. And what about transportation? What about other things that come up out of the blue and end up costing you a lot ? My point is that food is the least of your worries when it comes to the daily cost of just existing. Even if you decide to live in a car, there’s a lot of expenses involved in just keeping the car going.

Most of us keep working not for luxury but for basic shelter, the rent is eating up like half the income (after the government already took half your income for "social security"). Luxury is often very cheap compared to basic needs.

Most of us are running on the hamster wheel indefinitely. We work just to maintain our basic lives. I'm someone who has made little money and struggled and who made a very comfortable income which requires more money. I can say without a doubt that having more money does make me more happy, safe and secure in my life. Money isn't buying happiness directly, it buys not being worried, stressed and insecure. A side effect of not having those negatives is being relatively happy.

Taxes are the prime enemy of the people. I can save up and buy a $500K house, but I can't pay taxes on it. We looked at building a log cabin for the weekend, certifications are half the build cost and it's not worth spending $10K/year taxes for weekend getaways. Government ruins everything.

Back when I was looking at colleges, I included some military academies, because I had no money. The military academies are all fully paid as long as you enlist. As part of the pre admission program for one of the ROTC programs, they put us through a week of simulated Basic Training. Basic Training Lite you might call it, just it give us a taste of living on a military base and seeing what the program was all about. The instructor gave out Demerits (little white slips of paper indicating you'd done something wrong) like he was passing out business cards. Bad posture, not closing a door properly, breaking formation during PT, etc. He dominated us for a week handing out demerits left and right. But, he gave the most profound speech at the end of the week, about how some people spend their entire lives being ruled over by little slips of paper. I didn't enlist, but that speech was maybe one of the most important messages I learned in high school.

I agree with you. You only need as much as you need. My dad says "just buy enough house." Money only really provides freedom and peace of mind, when you have enough to cover your expenses... Maybe a job loss, health issues... Housing issues... But after that... A 50$ phone is as good as an 800$ phone.

Once your bills are covered is the key phrase there. My bills go up every year when it comes to cost for rent, energy to heat/cool my home, fuel for my car, medical insurance, not to mention sale taxes, car registration fees, and then there is income tax itself. Nothing is getting any cheaper, yet companies still want to pay the same. So you kind of have to keep chasing the dollar just to keep ahead of rising costs of living. Maybe once you have achieved a certain threshold of financial saving or passive income, allowing you to confidently cover all of your bills, then you can have the luxury of not having to worry about making money. I don't know how that feels as I have been working hard my entire life just to make ends meet, let alone have the money to buy luxury goods.

Nice positive message you are spreading I believe at the end of it all it’s about how you choose to live your live and you choose that route because you enjoy the journey. I like being a student it keeps me busy when I’m not working and I really feel like I’m enjoying myself while learning. I’m working to be a Nurse practitioner and in looking forward to every second of it. It’s on my bucket list. I also do make time for family I feel like I have a great balance.

@@the_techverse : Agreed. The term "education" is largely a misnomer. It has morphed into indoctrination at this point. Biological science books from just a few years ago would not be "acceptable" today in universities or medical schools because they acknowledge the scientific fact that you can't change your chromosomes no matter you "identify" on a given day. It's all about "feelings" as opposed to facts.

Having $1 million in the bank nowadays is basically just extra peace of mind but inflation will eat away at it everyday. Anyways really hot girls don't care if you have a million, they want you to spend a million on them every year like the lifestyles they see on TV.

Finally I've found a channel that tells it as it is.. 100% agree on everything in this video. My trading mentor (ex futures pit trader) once told me the same thing this channel has, and that was in 2003! He said "I don't need all this money to live! All I need is $100k, trading just allows me to do other things and live how i want to live. The living large idea is not real it's all bullshit, most millionaires or higher don't own what they have...its rented, the house, the lambo the whole lot, its all a fallacy, if you own it then your tied down, its about control not ownership. It’s true. I walked away from work and took care of my grandparents in their last days. Just afterwards, my closest friend, no, more like a brother came down with an aggressive cancer who I also took care of and is now gone. After these three years I now look for work. But this morning the above video came into my algorithm when I felt down for not having a job. Thank you for the reminder of why I do the things I do. I completely agree, we’ve been duped. I suppose the question now is, where to go from here..? Take care all, love and live life to it’s fullest.

You haven't been duped, money is just a favour system. You need to earn your favours, you can't expect them to be handed out to you as a freebie, someone had to do hard work to give you your favours. Our system is just rigged because the rich can get their favours to earn more favours whilst doing absolutely nothing. Until the government balances this out from necessity or a civil war occurs where the poor majority take back the wealth from the rich minority (eg. China), you will need to work hard not to get left behind. This is quite achievable in most of the world (probably don't even need to work that hard). Only over populated places like India and China make it seem like it's a hopeless case.

I am in a similar situation but the person I help hasn't passed out yet. I also make the same question if I should do find a job or not. I decided that I will make money, not a job or a career or a "hustle". That hard part is to find a way to do it but freelancing is a good way to start (although freelancing is technically "a job" per se). You have to start somewhere. And yes, gave me the feeling about my current situation. Be patient.

Also, as long as batteries are produced in harmful, non-environmentally-friendly, unsustainable ways, electric vehicles are kind of a satirical joke. I agree with him on one thing: you don't necessarily need millions and overpriced luxury items to be happy; just one million will do it, lol. What people miss here is that money also provides a lot of freedom, opportunities, and improved quality of life, to some extent. For example, whether you have 3 million or 1 billion, there will be barely any difference in life quality. You can still buy the healthiest food, purchase one or several decent cars, travel several times a year, and afford decent hotels without having to rely on hostels filled with strangers, some of whom might snore, lol, or deal with other inconveniences. So when people say money won't buy happiness, they either mean overpriced luxury items and lifestyles or they are simply being hypocritical, as they have the money to live a quite privileged life which they stop appreciating or never appreciated in the first place. For instance, they have a decent car, can buy healthy food, travel several times a year, pay any medical bills, afford wellness or extra treatments to improve their health and overall wellbeing, decide not to work, help or support friends, and never have to worry about any financial issues. These are things they often take for granted and would never give up, yet they have the nerve to tell you that money is not that important.

Shot nowadays people don’t even have the time to date, in my own opinion, having a good partner is much more important than having a great career. You can have a crappy day at work but look forward coming home and you’ll still be happy . If you have a great day at work but hate coming home it’s basically a wash.

Hi there from a german. I work part-time (32 hours per week) and still get quite a lot of money and also have quite a lot of free time. I am 45 years and PhD geologist. I can say working part time is nice and i can only recommend it. Before, I worked only 29 hours, that was even better but I noticed I need somewhat more money. Now I get around 70k Euros per year..that’s quite nice.

This is what I've been trying to explain to people for so long but for some reason they just dont get it. What's the point of buying all this luxury items? To impress other people? Finance and Business books have been so helpful. I’m 55 and my wife 50 we are both retired with over $3 million in net worth and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. No longer putting blames on FED for our misfortunes. Saving and investing lifestyle in the stock market made it possible for us this early, even till now we earn weekly.

The irony is that a man who exerts himself physically enjoys his simple meal ,of say chicken Parm, MORE than the glutton could ever enjoy even the most indulgent foods prepared by the best chef. In Korea, almost all men are draughted for compulsory military service, and from time to time, there are marching exercises. Basically, you wear and equip things and then just walk for several hours. The most painful thing was not the sore, bleeding feet, or the heavy backpack, or the hot weather, it was the thirst. If a war breaks out, I guess probably more soldiers would die because of thirst than by bullets.

I’ve always worked diligently and did everything to the best of my abilities because It was something I wanted to do. Money was never a motivating factor. Granted I wouldn’t work where I do if they didn’t pay me. But I’m never thinking about how much I’m making while I’m working. Funny enough that same thought process is what gained me more money. The less I think about it the more I make. I’m an “employee” and by all rights I could have started my own company years ago, but I just don’t want the headache of managing it. Sure I can make way more money. But I will also be committing myself to doing things I don’t want to do. As of now I can drop everything and walk away. I’m as free as I can be. My problem is the more I grow to understand what makes me happy, the less I find worth doing. Good video man.

“Americans are addicted to their own struggle…” Good one. In my experience having money enables one to see what it’s like to exhaust it’s superfluous functions. When you learn it’s limitations you are then free to contemplate the simplicity of life… which is where the great value of living lies.

"Education trains you to be a rat" I think this is the most true (for me) because it allowed me to rationalize my debt. The first 40k for my engineering bachelor's has definitively netted positive ROI for me. But I then assumed that taking out more for a masters was worth the much higher premium. 20k more and 2 semesters later I realized that an AWS Solutions Arch Cert or something else relevant is literally thousands of times more valuable in terms of negotiating power and real income. Keep it cheap friends. The whole reason we got into software was to reduce overhead right?

It's well known that a master's doesn't have ROI in CS. Their general purpose is actually just for work visa requirements. A PhD does have an ROI for certain specialties like AI though.

I cannot explain why one would disclose their way of automating a menial job task except for clout and brushing their egos a little bit, maybe a promotion which nets them less in the long run (judging by stress/effort hours).

Wow I just found this. Great concepts.

Was zero’d out after my divorce and in hell for 2yrs in hindsight it was the best thing to happen to me. I left the rat race mentality, have no friend by choice, no girlfriend and no kids. I save all my money for retirement now. I’m fit, still look young and company keeps wanting to me promote me but declined. One I don’t want to return to the office and 2 I don’t want to deal with employees. I’m good with being an individual contributor at work and don’t care for any more raises. I don’t own anything other than my clothes and my bmw. I’m in my bedroom at 7:30pm and wake up by 3:30am and hang out by myself and peace before the general population wakes up. Life is peaceful and I don’t fear death.

@@jokerpilled2535 spot on. 85%+ of the people aren’t rich by any means, most of us struggle and hustle. 75% are either obese or overweight 50%+ of marriages end up in divorces 5% only of couples self report being actually happy with their chosen man and finances. There, that’s quite the picture regarding finances, well being and relationships separately… now, hitting the jackpot on ALL of them at the same time is ridiculously low probability. The trick is right here in this video, live minimally, spend a whole lot less than what you make, work the least possible, spend that free time on yourself: health, family, reading, learning, whatever floats your boat. Don’t know what the commenter wanted to get at, maybe just attack you personally for some frivolous gratuitous narcissistic reason… maybe he has all such things, but the numbers say between the few here on this thread, the chances of that are very low.

Money stops being important when you already have it. I think ppl fight for money because they are afraid to be in a situation where they can't sustain themselves or their loved ones. I don't really think most of the ppl hoards money to show off. I would be great to watch a video about exactly that, how much money do you need to stop worrying about it anymore and enjoy life. Simple thing, 2 approaches, single person and family of 4, spouse and 2 kids. Life expectancy 80 y, car, travel once a year, decent house and retirement fund.
