This third-generation Camaro RS has been a ground-up project by its owner to turn it into a track-worthy build as he learns the art of performance driving. Though the 3.1L V6 is mostly stock and making an optimistic 190 horsepower, the chassis improvements are signiificant, leading to quite the interesting canyon carver, with plans to add LS power in the future.

Man, most people want power just so they can do short bursts in a straight line on the road. For that kind of driver, no other supporting mods are needed to balance that power.

Dope one take. Owner seems like a cool dude and he's knowledgeable about his car. Nice
These third gen camaro's truly never get the respect they deserve, and Its great to finally see someone who has taken the time to build one and get it reviewed. Also I had a 1990 rs with same 3.1l engine, and it had enough power to get the job done, but how smooth and comfy it was on the road was what was truly awesome about it

Right? I feel cooler for knowing now.
I like this dude, I wish more car owners were as knowledgeable and original. Really would like to keep track of his progress -- the prospect of a high-revving, de-stroked LS powering this thing, what with its considerable chassis and suspension tuning, makes this project one worth following.. and I'm sure it'll make for one hell of a driver in the end.

the third gen is the best looking Camaro, IMO.
definition of "built not bought"
What a great car, and a smart owner/driver allowing the car to evolve, getting to know the car, vs just chucking power at it right away. .
These cars have so much more potential than people realize as a track car. It doesn't take a lot to get them to stick great for a solid rear axle around corners.
That guy has a refreshing attitude towards engines . Matt: when you power it out of a corner, using less throttle or even lifting is not how it works . ;)
That dash cover though. Classic lol

Actually really glad that this came up, because for a long while I've considered getting 3rd gen Camaro. It's just something that is not seen often in the car world as something for drifting or drag and yet it seems very capable of both. Very influential and makes me consider getting one even more so now.
Not the kind of car I would usually be into, but this thing is awesome. The owner is a legend.
This probably my favorite one take and not even for the car itself though it is awesome. You can tell the guys knows his shit and wanted to make his car, not someone else's. Really good work.

That wide body is amazing, I had to watch the camera go around his car like 3 times before I noticed where the extra width was added. I had an 86 Trans Am and my brother had an 87 IROC Z so I am familiar with the body and still took me that long to see it. Superb job. My favorite wide bodies are the ones you need a double take to see.
This car is awesome. Most people do videos on high power cars but that's what makes this so interesting. People love your videos on "oddballs" more than anything!

I like that he kept the OG purple tint.
This dude deserves high-fives for life. What an amazing build.
I really like this guy. He knows what he wants and I like that it's function not form. That destroked LS sounds like a cool idea.

When I saw the thumbnail this was the last version of this car I expected to see but still so refreshing. Matt you really have them crawling out of the woodwork now, keep em' coming!
HAD A 91 RED/RED CAMARO. PUT ON A BORLA EXHAUST, NEW COMPUTER CHIP AND NEW POWER PULLEYS. IT WAS A WHOLE NEW BEAST. BEAUTIFUL CARS AND LOTS OF FUN, BETTER THAN TODAY'S CAMAROS
Thumbs up for the owner dropping knowledge!
those camaros are future classics
great advanced car talk.. I need to step my car knowledge game up ASAP!
I have a 92 rs v6 Camaro sitting in public storage- future project car. Bought the car 10 years ago for $ 400- put 50000 miles on it. The car would not stop.
soon as I clicked on the video I hit that like button. my first car was a 92 rs with t tops. it was a sick car
Thumbnail had super excited. Was hoping for an LS7 swap or something. Still a cool car and a good kid.
92 rs was my first car. I loved it and have always wanted another. This is so cool
I am watching the channel for a week now. I have seen like 20 videos. This one is my favourite right after the 1927 Bugatti. This guys knows what he is doing. Great project.

dude basically just built a car... awesome.
Never really been a fan of the 3rd gen camaro bodystyle, but I love this.
One of my favourite one takes in a long time. Nice work Matt.
Its a free country and he seems like a nice guy who knows a bit. I was gonna say why a 6 cylinder, then he said future LS and I thought OK. He is also very correct about being under powered being a good teacher. This is very true with motor cycles as well. Things are so powerful now its nearly impossible to learn when your just trying not to die when you open a throttle a bit.
Matt, you should start a series called 2ndtake doing 1take cars after additional mods are completed
You do whatever it takes Matt; Dillon Optics, Ball Powder, Oxyclean, etc., it is all appreciated cuz' you do it for us and yourself too.
Wow this guy is actually pretty smart and very technical. He built a great platform, learns how to drive skillfully and then shoves the power in.
Love this gen, my childhood. Would love to work on this gen Camaro in my spare time. This guy certainly is smart with his car: learn to drive a slow car fast first, then go real fast. Cant wait for another one-take after he puts in that LS. Well done.
This guy knew what he wanted and how to get there! Impressive! He could be an opponent in Initial D. :P
Nice, I love when people do cool stuff just because they think it's cool. This guy clearly had good vision.
It's episodes like this that are a rare treat, this guy is awesome! Love these, thanks Matt!

Good to see there a some TRUE enthusiasts still out there!!! So refreshing to see with all the modern "enthusiasts" who are only concerned with their street cred and the amount of followers they have on IG. They have literally no idea how to drive but sure are obsessed with the world knowing they are a "car guy". As long as they put off the image of being a car guy, than apparently that's what being a car guy is these days. Just look like one. KILLER car and build sir!!! Well done. Take notes kids, THIS is a build. Wheels and low isn't a build. I'm sorry. It's just not. lol
the mountains line with the clouds ,,, very beautiful DUDE!!!!
finally a wode body with propper track width instead of off set or spacers
That dude is a car nerd.
I love this guy. This is exactly why I loved my RX-8 so much. It's not over powered and it teaches you how to drive. I don't understand why most american cars sovlve the lack of handling with more power.
it's so cool it's like having another ad after skipping the first one!!!
If GM copied this car exactly and sold it as a 2018 Camaro, people would probably buy it over the 6th gen.
I got one of them we are currently replacing the fuel pump after that I am.going to be replacing the seats and re doing the interior and after that I will get it painted glossy red
This is why i love cars It all has a nice design...damn it has some style
Great video, alot of good information, I usually only enjoy the videos where ot's just you, but this guy is awesome, I really enjoyed this and I'm a mustang guy, love the video matt!!

The owner is a legend, I especially agree on what he is saying about low end torque. That's why I like N/A engines that you need to rev. To me that's what driving is all about.
The only Camaro body I like, respect from Ford/Toyota guy
Man, my dad had a '92 Camaro RS (maroon) when I was 12. I learned how to drive in it. Thought it was the coolest car in the world back then.
I'm glad he did chassis, brakes and suspension upgrades before he even thought about more power. That's the smart way to do it. Not a good idea having a thousand horsepower if you can't stop or turn.
