Modded Honda Pitbike Bogs & Won't Idle - Can We FIX It??

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is a 2003 Honda XR50 that had been sitting outside for an unknown length of time. It runs, but the engine dies when given throttle, and doesn't idle. In this video we hope to get it running right and take it for a ride! The XR50 is the successor of the original Z50 Monkey bike of the 1960's, and an almost identical bike to this XR50 is still being produced today as the CRF50.

I was a bike mechanic for many years (in the Netherlands) and i've heard countless people complain about the left side tire wear, especially on bicycles and mopeds, The reason for that is that bicycles and mopeds are supposed to ride on the right side of the road. And that part of the road is cambered for water drainage. That could explain the left side tire wear on your bike, coupled with donuts Great video as always and the best wishes for 2024!

The "confidential" talk about the approachability of the motorcycle was very sweet. I thought it was very thoughtful how you recognize those things and see it's use rather than just an underpowered machine, and also the acknowledgement and thankfulness that you gave for your wife indulging in your hobbies and trying to make it easier and more fun for her too.

This is great. Since this is basically the same as a china-made Honda Trail 50 / Z50 / Monkey clone. (Skyteam, Skygo, Honlei, Jingcheng etc.) They are very popular amongst us finnish people, being the cheapest street-legal mopeds (around 1600€ and up NEW) and you can buy new fuel-injected mopeds still at dealerships. I own a 2009 Skyteam. Not to mention original Honda Z50 bikes had numerous "Finland-only" models when they were still imported in 70-90s. Get yourself a Z50 next if you can!

My first bike was a 1964 Honda 50. Half motorcycle half scooter. But it was a fast bike! My father was on the fence about me having it after it was running. At 6'4" 285 lbs it hauled him around with no problems. With my skrawny butt it flew. Guess thats what the wings on the gas tank represented. Thanks for the fun video guys!

20:13 And you can tell immediately by putting enough air that is expands and sinking it under water. If you see bubbles, there is a leak. Quick way to test for holes and takes about 15 minutes to dry in the sun if you want to limit the amount of water that gets inside the tire. I did save essentially very dead clone pitbike from scrapper couple years ago, rebuilt lots of it, fixed what could and modified parts from parts laying around like longer better seat and making it look unique with Kawasaki fearings, installing lights, little paint etc. Its cool little bike with enough torque for me to get around. Reliability of the 110cc china clone aint the best even as stock, but to drive around the yard and near forest its lots of fun and the size makes it really nice even shorter guy like my self, having ability to put feet down on the ground is god send. For this one, go trough the engine, fix her up to reliable machine, maybe swap bigger rims, i have 14 inc on mine and thinking on getting even bigger ones for better ground clearance and to get over fallen trees etc easier with sturdier rear shock.. the current scooter shock is bit weak even for a child.

New engines always smoke a little till the rings seat into the cylinder wall. Check the compression and that will tell you how much blow by or if the valves are seating then go from there. Might adjust the valves and see if that helps with the tapping noises. No smoke tell me that the valve guides are ok too. Nice kids toy though.
