This is easily the best fan-made addon for any classic FPS I can think of. It honestly gives even the all-time greatest Doom megawads a run for their money. Speaking of money, I would buy this if I could, it's just that enjoyable. Extremely professional level design, it blows the official expansion packs for Blood out of the water and Cryptic Passage was damn good too. The difficulty at skill 4 was just hard enough but managable and never unfair. Also the incredible variety of some really massive levels and how absolutely none of them sucked, all by one guy who used the old buggy BUILD editor. For those who didn't care for Blood II, this mod along with its well done story IS Blood 2. It's really a dream come true for Blood fans and if it sounds like I want to give Bloatoid sexual favors for his hard work then that's probably because I do. 5/5

First time I've ever played a mod that was actually better than the main game. I do think it kinda runs out of ideas by the end but that goes for the main game too. Nothing was ever able to live up to E1M4 and 5 but man still an incredibly professional mod. It's so damn playful and fun.

I know this video was for the mod, but it's really sad to see Monolith relegated to licenced games considering how creative their old franchises were .

Jace Hall tried to get a new Blood game off the ground last year or the year before that. Either he couldn't get the support he wanted from the community to see it through, or he couldn't get licensing deals sorted out to even make the game. Which is really sad, because a Blood reboot or straight up Blood 3 these days I think would be amazing. Especially if it's made by the original guys like Jace Hall etc. But let's not forget, Monolith just did Shadow of Mordor also. People seem to really like that game :)

Lord LOC I'm not saying SoM was a bad game, but it's sad knowing we probably won't be seeing any new IPs from them soon when you look back at their old franchises (Blood, SHOGO, NOLF, F.E.A.R. & Condemned). Then again, a lot of the original members are probably gone.

Lord LOC Unfortunately Blood has been largely forgotten, Shadow Warrior and Duke 3D both have modern remake versions on Steam, but Blood has been left out in the cold. That sucks, because Blood was always my favorite of the 3.

My goodness the build engine (especially Blood) looks so timeless!

Death wish is just sooo good. BLOOD is good, the DLC is good, Death Wish takes what Blood did to a whole different level. I've had more fun with this mod than i have with any game in the past decade

Does this mod kind of just fix everything that’s was wrong with the newer version (fresh supply). I grew up in the early 2000 not the 90’s so I never knew about these games but I’ve recently just built my first PC so have gone back to find these old games to play. I saw a lot of people saying the remaster wasn’t as good as the original so I was wondering if this does anything to make it feel more true to the original.

You were definitely a precursor to the bring back of retro style shooters. Cheers brotha!

The maps are so long and awesome in death wish, a true travel with a nice horror/nightmare atmosphere, im at e3m3 and its really special and wonderful. This game is a legend.

Blood and Shadow Warrior tie for 1st place as far as making the Build Engine look beautiful. The atmospheres those games created were incredible. Awesome level design as well. Truly my Golden age of gaming. Glad to see that this mod has kept that spirit.

I completed Blood for the first time last year and loved every bit of it. Blood 2 just didn't hold up in comparison. I can't help but wish a company would take on Blood3; maybe the time inbetween Blood 1 and 2 could be fleshed out? Chances are they'd just fuck it up anyways, but it seems these re-do's and re imaginings as of late are gettin (or atleast really trying) to please the original audiences more. Just sharing my thoughts. Great reviews gggman

Well, Devolver Digital wanted to buy the Blood IP and most likely both do a new one and fix the old one for modern machines. But Atari apparently wanted a ridiculous amount for the IP. So basically all hopes can be sadly crushed now.

+Game James Yeah I completed the expansion that came with the GOG version. I'm currently playing the latest Shadow Warrior by FlyingWildHog, and while they've swayed from the original I believe it's a good thing, ie to racist and silly. They've obviously put alot of love and care into making it a great game, and they clearly appreciate Shadow Warrior as much as us and this is their new-age interpretation of it. I feel we can take solace that the original will always be there to play as we wish, so aslong as a company dosnt completely arse-fuck an IP into the ground, I'd be keen! Fuck Off Gearbox!

At least a redux edition like the ones of Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem Megaton Edition (imagine a Blood edition containing the Plasma Pak, Cryptic Passage and Deathwish). But Atari is being extremely retarded, not doing anything with the ip and not letting anyone do anything with it.

Lots of teams wanted to make Blood, but Atari is pretty much dead company and no one could get the rights to make game, they demanded unreasonable amount of money or "no, because no".

This is the best mod I have played for anything, Black Mesa and Brutal Doom included.

I really can't believe that out of all the games I played through out the 90's, even the more uncommon FPS ones, I never played Blood. I remember always seeing the box at my now defunct electronics store and thinking how cool it looked. But for some reason I never got around to getting it, and I seriously have no idea why. I had to have been around 13-14 when this released and if I would have played it, I would have flipped my lid over it for sure. So I went on eBay and bought a boxed copy and one of the expansions in its jewel case and as soon as I install it, I may just fire up this mod before even playing the vanilla game as it looks amazing. Even more so after just coming off my first play through of Brutal Doom (Did Doom 1 / 2 and Final Doom in one stretch last weekend) and now I'm in old school mode big time.

I finished this mod on Extra Crispy. I can say with certainty that this is the easiest mod, by simple virtue of designing encounters with hitscanners to be mostly readable rather than blindsiding you with a hail of bullets around any random corner. So it's brutal but fair, and if you do want to breach the challenge of Extra Crispy, the phenomenal level design of Death Wish truly shines here. It was THE best experience I've had out of all of my Extra Crispy mod runs. French Meat was #2 but considerably harder if you want to keep pushing yourself.

This mod is absolutely incredible, and it feels more like a true Blood 2 than the real Blood 2 ever was. Highly recommended for anyone not only into Blood, but into old-school shooters. Probably my favorite BUILD engine experience. Some of the levels are actually frightening and tense.

This mod is really on the professional level.

Great review. I definitely gotta check this mapset out. Also for your next mod review, could you do Ballistic Weapons for UT2k4 or Back to Saturn X E1 and 2 for Doom?

One of the best shooters of all time.

Hi man, I like your channel! I don't always agree with your evaluation of certain games, but overall I get that you have the same appreciation for good old shooters. Here are a couple of recommendations for mods: Wrath of Cronos (for any doom engine game) and WGRealms 2 (stand-alone and free, based on the build engine).

If you can, do more mods, maybe for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.

As wind falcon said the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series. even moddb says the title of the games. its a post apocalyptic chernobyl ukraine survival game. Its a good game and has had recognition from heaps of people and is modded and played to this day.

Have you played the Duke Nukem 3D mod WG Realms 2? It's pretty awesome, uses assets from Heretic/Hexen/Doom, pretty cool game play & maps. Over on moddb there's a version with a few episodes.

You should check out Wolfen. It's a pretty well made mod for a new hub in Hexen: Beyond Heretic.

You ever play Requiem Avenging Angel? I thought it was great FPS back in the day. It's rarely even talked about today. I would love to see you review it.

Wow, thanks for the video! Blood is one of my favourite games, and I am always thirsthy for maps and TC, specially if they are good (most ain't). Btw. I must say that Blood is not a good example of comparing difficulty. Blood didn't had a "standard" difficulty. It was rough and hard when it came out... You can compare PE with Duke Nukem3d. The former, which is reasonably difficult (playing with old controls) will feel like a walk in the park compared with Blood. Blood is really mean!

Gggmanlives awesome mod,btw what dosbox settings are you using in blood? my one unit whole blood doesn't look nowhere as good.

Don't know if you'd wish to take a look at another Blood mod so soon, but Bloody Pulp Fiction is another note-worthy add-on www.blood.freeminded.de/index.php?section=maps&id=460 There's also the Alone in the Dark pseudo-conversions as well

Thanks for the coverage on this, you don't see many mods/addons for Blood on the same scale as Duke Nukem 3D or Doom, then again I will be absolutely _gobsmacked_ if there is a game that has more mods/levels and shit (Both literally and figuratively) then Doom. I'll have to give this a play though, love me some Blood. If only it could escape it's copyright limbo and plop back into Monolith's hands...

I can get the mod running by dragging the shortcut over dosbox but does anyone know how to make the game fullscreen? all I get is a small window that I cant adjust.

downloaded this after purchased fresh supply. very good mod and game. have played blood2 but one not

my deathwish, is that when I die, I wear a eyepatch while the man who sold the world plays.

I think you forgot to mention the Proximity Detonators layed out in random areas in Extra Crispy which makes it even more harder.

Fish monsters are so scary looking.

Have you tried the AMC TC for eduke32?

Man, looks awesome. I know why there hasn't been one made, due to the source code being held up somewhere. But I wish SO badly that an OpenGL version of Blood was available... even with optimal setup in dosbox.. the strange framerates just gives me a headache trying to play this game very long.

Fuck this. Some one needs to build a mod that is based off the Deathwish franchise, complete with Bronson one liners.

Okay, so this is kinda bugging me now. Looking a little closer, around 1:09 and 3:58 there are a bunch of banners and now I'm wondering if those are hidden references to Game of Thrones. The stag on the green background looks like Renly's sigil and the gold lion on red is of course like house Lannister. Considering the first book from "A Song of Ice and Fire" was released little less than a year before bloood, and how fond the makers were of pop culture references to darker fantasy, it's a distinct possibility. But the series didn't gather such mainstream attention until HBO started running Game of Thrones. I also don't see this on any sites listing Blood's many references. Does anyone remember seeing more of these banners in the game and what's on all of them? I have a vague recollection of seeing them, perhaps in E1M2.

I've given up hope on a proper Blood 3. If Jace Hall tried to get the license and failed... why doesn't he just create a new IP that is a spiritual successor to Blood? Similar motifs, aesthetic, etc? The story was never that important anyway (although as a kid I loved videogame storylines).

The first level begin with a cutscene where the camera spins around a single square hole in front of a wall at the end of the street, you hear screams, bombs and gunshots non stop and then it stops, the main character slides up an elevator the same size and look of the pavement of the street as he has both hands behind his back with his back straight with casual thick clothes for colder windy weather while looking in the upper left corner while having a big wide smile like the joker in Batman and then the game starts. No explanation, no dialogue, no telling what that hidden room was, why it was there, why he was there and no sign or trace of it as the elevator floor naturally blends into the street. That's how it should start. Kind of like Monkey Island where it starts up at a watch point up on a cliff and Guybrush just randomly comes out and talks to the old man and that's it

Blood 3 is Dusk. It's a shame Monolith never made Blood 2, but at least there's Death Wish - the actual Blood 2.

Gggmanlives This is great :D BTW, If you're still planning to try "The Nameless Mod" (for Deus Ex), I recommend you first to go through the tutorial. It's pretty similar to the original, but you will get only explanations about the new content, without repeating the things that you knew already from the source!

Half Lite already been ported onto console(PS2 and Dreamcast) a year after PC released at the time but don't know if Blood 1 will be

Can you please do a review for the BloodGDX port for this game?? You might not even be aware of it. M210 released a reversed engineered port that makes this game run like butter without Dosbox. It plays exactly like the original game! It's not ZBlood or BloodCM. It's an amazingly accurate Blood! If people know there is an easier way to play this game then it will help expand the community. Not many people are willing to give Dosbox a try. With that being said, the port is probably illegal to create but so far one could argue he's helping sales for the game without profiting himself. He does accept donations but they are not mandatory for the port.

I understand. I plan on making an add-on for Blood. The first map, Eviction, is already released. If you watch my latest video you can see a sneak peak of the second map. I'm very thorough when making levels so it will take me a year to finish most likely. I hope it will be worthy enough to make your review list.

Better than Blood II the Chosen.

You think these levels are amazingly well put together, then you should try knee deep In zdoom. The amount of detail and craft put Into remaking the episode one of doom Is unreal, I was blown away with how detailed It was. Coupling that with Project brutality and the experience Is some of the best I've ever had In doom games. Still prefer straight up DOOM because It's a classic, but It Is definitely worth looking at, If you've ever wondered to what extent could be done with the engine If they knew how to back then.

Speaking of BUILD engine stuff, you should check out WGRealms 2 if you want something absolutely crazy stuff stretching the engine limits.

Your voice sounds like those cocky criticizing guys that bash anything so hearing that praise something gives it a better feeling like using a curse word sparingly. I played the first and second chapter then moved on to the third but didn't finish it. I loved it all and how it had moments that felt like a cutscene but wasn't shoved in your face like in the Silent Hill level when you pass a window and hear her crying and see her and Chernobog in there then it turns to the alarm and Silent Hill. There is one moment though that sucks which is when you enter a dark room only to have a loud screaming jumpscare come out and then you're teleported to an invisible bridge. I hate loud jumpscares and that one especially cause there isn't any other through the game. But I had those old classic moments on the lower difficulty when I was so low on ammo and health that I praised a heart while loading an early save over and over to get the best outcome of an encounter. I never have those in modern games so this brought me back

Eric Durant Get Mappack 2014 from blood [dot] freeminded [dot] de and go to the Bloatoid folder. Just unZIP to the Blood folder and simply drag the DW.BAT unto the DOSBox icon to start, that's all.

Game james Forget about the source code, check out COSMO THE CODER and his BUILDSHARP project, it's probably the most promising Blood port project so far with frequent updates of the progress.

Can you imagine a Brutal Blood mod

Hehe Witchaven, a game that one typically tries to play again after a long time just to get reminded how bad it was. It's probably 1 of the lamest Build games ever made. Blood however is one of the best and the Deathwish add-on will not easily be surpassed by any other mapping project for a long time, and surely not by one with 3 equally well crafted episodes.
