Who have you helped besides yourself? How about you go earnestly work 20 years towards something your heart and mind feel as noble and constructive and then come back here and see if you still think you should tear down someone else who has spent his life serving and helping.

The greatest current cause of deforestation (and loss of animal habitat) in the Amazon rainforests is for the farming of Soy beans, grown to feed the West's Vegan population. So while it's all very nice to feel warm and fuzzy, it is also worth thinking about reality. I assume you do actually care about our planet and animal welfare and not just about feeling warm and fuzzy? Veganism won't save humans and it is not saving the animal kingdom, it is however helping privileged ignorant Western people feel special about themselves and superior to others.

I'm a middle-aged 40-something dude, and... I actually really like a lot of today's artists. Not necesarily the top-40 radio hitmakers, but indie musicians, groups, individuals etc. There's a lot of great stuff out there. You just have to be willing to seek it out. And I once told myself that I was not going to be one of those aging white men who complained endlessly about how "today's music ain't got the same soul," et cetera. And I am not.

  • @rivolinho

I hear this argument all the time. You're correct that good music is still out there but the point I try to make is that society is at a loss when the good stuff rarely or never filters through to mainstream / chart pop. Take Moby. A lot of us here in our mid to late 30s and above remember when he came on the scene because he was a mainstream artist for a time. IMO had Moby been in 2019 instead of 1999, only a fraction of people would have heard of him. He wouldn't have gotten the backing or the radio play. So 20 years later he wouldn't be appearing on a talk show to reminisce because he wouldn't have had any notable success or touched a large number of people.....(with his flaccid penis!) That's the problem with mainstream music now. It's robbed our collective consciousness of quality music to soundtrack our lives.

Moby--“Then I fell apart.” Gotta fet his books as his videos from the Bourne series is magnificent. Just thinking about those strings that end the show...and Jason Bourne is free again. Maher FINALLY got guests who were truly intelligent and insightful! No Ann Coulter (I hate that broad) or an idiot.Milo Yiannopoulos!

They'll catch up on animal agriculture... It took nearly a decade for hipsters to turn on Amazon and Apple when screaming themselves blue about corporate greed and tax avoidance. It takes time to come to terms with the fact that it's not just what the cons want that'll have to be sacrificed, but the rest of us will need to feel some pinching too. Won't be at all surprised if the new veggie burgers are the tipping point, either. That artisanal burger food truck in Brooklyn that has become part of your identity can make the switch, and you get to have your hit of beefy flavor without a side of hypocrisy in the name of 'authenticity'.

I think you are making excuses because you think animals are too tasty to stop eating, but you don't want to phrase it like that because you know that pleasure isn't a moral justification for violence.

There's so much good music out there at the moment. But you gotta look for it. A lot of the best stuff flies under the radar.

@@TimothyTakemoto I actually saw ST. Vincent here in Indianapolis a while ago. Great show. I'm a life long live music junkie. Been to hundreds of concerts. The band I've seen the most number of times(19) is Lucius. Discovered them in a dinky little club in 2013. Was blown away by their dynamics & musicianship. I got goose bumps several times during that show. So good. They have two lead singers. Holly & Jess. Very unique. The band took a hiatus not long ago so that Holly & Jess could tour with Roger Waters as his background vocalists. They're that good. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKmnmNONiqXInco.html
