I'm going to keep updating the description with more tips and tricks I get from you guys (comment below):
- IF YOU OPEN THE FILLER CAP WHEN DRAINING THE OIL, COVER IT UP STRAIGHT AFTER TO STOP ANYTHING FALLING IN (ESPECIALLY WHEN OUTSIDE).
- IF YOU'RE NOT CONFIDENT WITH TORQUE SETTINGS YOU CAN BUY A TORQUE WRENCH, AROUND £20 ON AMAZON.

    What about the one way valve in the filter housing? No mention of pulling it back out so don't leave it open. Also the under shield may not align properly. Mine is sat so not properly hooked in the front. I think I need to loosen under shield screws and knock the shield forward to move the thread nuts and get the shield to engage the front tabs ? PITA working on such a low car.

  • @HimiJ

    Yeah you're right forgot to mention that, I just gave the valve a push again and it pops back into place. Yeah you'll want to make sure the shields tucked under the tabs fully 🙏🏼

    When you pushed up the orange tab, what did you do after that to reset it so the oil won't leak out......???

    Just give it another push and a wiggle and it pops back into place, it pops back quite easily. You could also push it from the top when you have the old filter out, hope that helped.

    I put it on the lip on the strong part of the chassis. The jack should have a recess to fit it

    Bro you used the wrong oil, that oil for Mercedes, Renault and Mercedes, I work at Volkswagen we don't use the HX8 grade oil. Volkswagen use Ultra. And the pure plus technology. And if I'd put a genuine filter in because them cheap filters can cause your oil pressure light to come on as the can cause blockages. Just some advice from a Fellow Volkswagen service techinician. Good luck pal

    Thanks for your comment bro, don't think HX8 is an oil grade it's just the brand name for that oil - the oil is 5w40 and meets VW 502.00/505.00 spec (from owners manual) - so should be fine. Yeah Hx8 isn't the most premium oil. You guys use Shell Helix Ultra? Ultra is very good (further up the product line than Hx8) - I always thought VW used Castrol 🤷🏽‍♂️. Heard Millers and Quantum are also good in these cars, but used Hx8 in this case as I can get it for a good price, it meets spec and I change it frequently. Completely agree with you, genuine filter are always best. Mann filters do have a good reputation tho. Again thanks for the comment, always good to hear! 👊🏼

    Mine is mapped to 270 ramair intake etc. Why use 5w-40 doh?

  • @HimiJ

    A mapped engine can run hotter, 5w40 stays viscous at higher temps. Shouldn't matter much for day to day driving tbh, more so important for owners who track their cars. I know a lot of tuners recommend 5w40 when tuned.

    @@HimiJ thank you for your reply, and well done on your video it was nicely done, yes my car is just a daily run around at the minute so should be fine with 5w30, that will change so if I ever take it to a track, great cars really enjoying mine since I got it 👍

    @@HimiJhey sorry it’s a late comment but my stock MK5 GTI burns a lot of oil - currently running 5W30 and it’s burnt through a whole tank in like 1300 miles, I daily drive but do put my foot down a lot so should I try 5W40? Or is the amount I’m burning normal? Thanks

  • @ejtisevn
    @ejtisevn7 сағат бұрын

    Thats a wrong oil for that engine. You need 5w40 with 502.00 oil standard.
