Miyazaki Wagyu Steak "medium well" - Steakhouse in Bangkok

400g of Miyazaki A5 Wagyu Beef at Nami Bangkok, which surprisingly is the best steak served since the steakhouse in New York City last December.
Since my last visit in 2018, Nami Teppanyaki Steakhouse took quite a number of Japanese Wagyu Beef cuts into their menu. The cook from last time, who introduced himself as Brad Pitt isn’t working here anymore, and interestingly - as a waitress explains - used to introduce himself to Thai customers using a name of Thai celebrity. Consequentially his name was meant to represent a more of universal concept.

In Thailand, the term “medium well” is not common. Usually they jump from rare - med rare ->> well done. I got confused at first too totally forgot that it’s a thing

I’ve seen this before in past videos in Japan where they keep asking if he means medium rare…. There is one video where the teppanyaki chef (I believe in Japan), did not even bother asking how aden wanted the steak prepared; he just said, “I prepare for you medium rare…” and that was that!

Have no problem with Salt and Pepper, its all that you need to get the flavor out. But the overuse of garlic especially in all kinds of asian kitchen is really something i dont understand. You are ruining your taste with it, cause it can get so overwhelming rather quickly. For a single meal, if its only for seasoning, a single piece is more than enough, 2 at max

I'm sorry but I don't hold with the Asian way of grilling steaks although I am sure that they are tasty. Whether I watch a steak being done in Japan or in Bangkok it seems like a steak cooked by Ed Norton, so much foreplay and fuss. I like Wagyu and cook it regularly and competently, always get "Oh wow this is good' from friends and family. I usually use a cast iron skillet or a Mauviel pan, light salt, pepper, butter, oil, hot pan, five minutes done. No precious fanfare.

@@CarbonSolo1 I'm a Black American. This is a crime. The whole point of wagyu steak is the extreme marbling that gives the steak a ton of tenderness and flavor. When you cook this steak to medium well, you're turning a $1,000 steak into a $20 steak by cooking out all the good fat/flavor. If you're going to eat steak cooked medium well to well done, don't get wagyu. Just go to Publix and get a choice NY strip.
