The Orville is why CBS announced, back in August of 2018, that they were making a sequel series to TNG, with Patrick Stewart returning at Jean-Luc Picard. CBS has to literally bring back one of the best Captains in order to compete with Seth MacFarlane’s passion project.

Im not sure that is the only reason - I am pretty sure the reason they put the elevator gag in the Season 2 trailer was a direct result of the Orville - and its gone in the 2nd trailer.....

What a great show. MacFarlane has a *great* touch. Jeeeez. AND a helluva work ethic.

Alara's looks improve from episode 2 onwards. Much like the series. It starts a bit irregular but then it is great fun

You should show us something new and not something we already watched. Maybe some behind the scenes stuff, interviews, or season 2 news without spoiling anything.

I think it's the 30th of December but because it's like what was meant to be the season finale of season 1 the rest will come out starting in February, hope that makes sense 😂

no - the held over episode (which was slotted to air before the season finale - episode 12 if you will - Primal Urges - is not going to be the first episode - I think the first one is "Home" with Alara leaving the ship......

Get on with Season 2 already.

I went to a Dr. Who convention shortly after the end of Season 1 of The Orville and one of the panels was on Star Trek and its influence on Science Fiction and American Pop Culture. During the Q&A, someone asked what was the panelists thoughts on both Discovery and The Orville, with the person stating how The Orville felt more like Star Trek than Star Trek: Discovery did. At that remark, the entire audience cheered for the first time the entire panel. The panelists did end up agreeing with the audience on that statement.

I mean it's undeniable. The problem with STD is that they thought that by taking Star Trek into a completely different dark drama direction, they would gain a new audience, while keeping the old audience just by the virtue of having the Star Trek brand. But what they ended up doing is they made their show compete with dozens of other much better dark dramas that are currently already out there, and alienated the old core audience by not including any of the things that made people fall in love with Star Trek. If they had only done what the Orville did, I think they would have actually succeeded at doing both of the things that they wanted to do. They would keep their core old audience, but also would gain a new audience simply because I am willing to bet there are huge numbers of younger people out there who have never watched the original star trek series and would absolutely love them if they had a modern version to get them into it. And now, the Orville has managed to grab both of those audiences and even if STD changes for the better, they will have a hard time regaining those people.

Love this show but it has to get a bit more original..😂👌

Unbelievable amount of clichés, all shots are expected. You feel as if you are watching several clips from films collected in a cartoon series with human faces.

gave away the whole plot of the first episode of the show (already seen so cool for me) but first time watchers it gonna be spoiled.

If this series fails, it will be because of having only 12 episodes per season and 10 months between seasons. Seriously, I was a dedicated follower, but have forgotten the names of half of the characters. :(

I've read that there will be 16 episodes, at 52 minutes. Egotistic Fun Time has a bit of information on season 2.

So there is a hope for Star Trek, but it isn't called Star Trek

Glad to have another trek. So sad that they named it after the most annoying nappy wearing green bird to ever exist.
