I think about how many of my ancestors endured the pain of being traded and sold as commodities. I've been blessed to be born when slavery is just a memory. But today, we have other forms of slavery-poverty that marginalizes, forcing parents to live far from their children. When will these chains be broken? When will greed be overcome by love and generosity? It all begins in our hearts; break these chains today and reach out.
Can we even grasp the gift that is Chris Cornell? Sometimes I'm not sure I even do... His music is just perfect.

I'm still here Chris..I Miss You So Much!! Hopefully your no longer in misery...See you on the other side. 🖤🖤🖤
I only knew the solo version on Higher Truth, didn't know it was written for that movie, I'd always assumed it was about depression : having escaped from your darkest times, but knowing they're lurking there and might one day come back maybe even worse, and staying humble and appreciative. That's part of what I like about Cornell's songwriting : it's esoteric or abstract enough that it might mean different things to different listeners, yet it's nonetheless deep and relevant. Well, some of his other songs are more like cool nonsense/imagery, but he was very open about that in interviews.
A WONDERFUL gift that is Chris Cornell EMOYIONAL HEART SWEET BEAUTIFUL God gave us Chris and what a blessing it was to have him sing with a that beautiful voice and Chis went Home to God and Heaven to be a ANGEL of MUSIC and now when we listen to the gentle wind we can hear Chris sing with his beautful voice that was GOD givin
I did not know this song until now. CC continues to touch me, fascinate me. What a voice. A talent. A soul. What a loss.
This is a very sad movie. It makes me cry. So happy that Chris wrote the song for the movie. He had the most beautiful voice that God gave anyone. Thank you for sharing this video 🙏🏽 God Bless 🙏🏽 Chris will always be The Beautiful Keeper ♥️🌹♥️ R.I.P. Chris 🙏🏽🕊
I miss Chris Cornell.
I absolutely adore this. So reminiscent of his first solo album, Euphoria Morning, which he produced with Alain Johannes and the great Natasha Shneider (RIP). Cornell's sound is still influenced by that collaboration and Johanness' influence is clearly present in this beautiful song. Great back up vocals by Joy.

Such a beautiful, true spirit and voice. I wish there was an afterlife so i could make up for the missed encounter in my birthplace, Detroit. RIP
Thrilled to have yet another single by Chris Cornell to add to his brilliant body of work. A kind man who has the voice of an angel.
I still wonder HOW does Chris manage to reach in so deep into the shadowy existence of feelings, only those who suffered could feel!? Than he pulls out the gut of it and sings it with such beauty. His soul is channeling the pure existence.

I completely agree. Each one of his songs are a delicate description of something that you felt once or that you gonna feel in the future.

Beautifully said
Kind of reminds me of "When I'm Down" from Cornells' first solo album, has a very 'slow jazz' vibe to it! Love it!
Such a bluesy, soulful, beast of a song. That Soundgarden-esque trippy guitar in the background is the perfect dark element to this.
I wanna cry Chris. Why did you leave us? We won't do that. Rest in peace my friend
Lovely and haunting. Chris keeps surprising us. Very talented guy.
You can't be a fan of music or a musician and not atleast appreciate his abilities - in particular, the haunting melodies in his songwriting. LOVE Chris Cornell, by himself and with Soundgarden!! Rock on, Chris! -Joy Williams is awesome as well. Check out more of her music with The Civil Wars..
RIP Chris "And when we're gone And it's all said and done What will we leave? Stories told Will they speak of us when...? Oh, God only knows What those words will be..."
The lyrics the voice, the story. Everything about this song is so beautiful
I can't help...just fell in love with this song.....their voices are so precious. Thank you !!!
Still brings a tear my eye 😢
Just... Beautiful! Is there anything Chris can't do? Doubt it.
Every time I listen to you sing Joy it's like getting a vocal lesson. Beautiful singing as ever!
I Love this mans voice!!! Chris Cornell is AWSOME!!!!!!!!
Cada vez que escucho a Chris, soy más feliz porque su talento ha evolucionado tanto como él mismo. Me siento reflejada como humana. No existen palabras, sólo arte y corazón.(Every time I listen to Chris, I'm happier because their talent has evolved as much as himself. I feel reflected as a human. There are no words, only art and heart.) thank´s
I just heard this on David Letterman. Love the song and Chris Cornell has a wonderful voice. Guess I need to start listening to more music by him.

too bad Natasha Shneider isn't alive to do the backing vocals with him...
This should be the soundtrack for the next James Bond film
Joy Williams, please come back to JP White. His voice matches yours perfectly. Although I love Cornell's voice and music as much I love The Civil Wars, you and Chris are too far from the magic songs of Civil Wars.
He should do his next solo release with Alain Johannes.
;)
The only thing I dislike is the female voice, why? Mr. Cornell's voice is more than enough
The film sucks balls for reasons I will not go intro but Cornells and Williams song is good
nice, BUT let him sing alone.. actually, with such voice & abilities, even there's no need for music in the background...
sorry: Booooring!
