Chris Cornell - You Never Knew My Mind (Johnny Cash: Forever Words / Audio)

Музыка

Johnny Cash: Forever Words
Buy/Listen - JohnnyCash.lnk.to/Foreverword...
About the album:
In 1996, Johnny Cash recorded a cover of Soundgarden’s hit “Rusty Cage,” written by frontman Chris Cornell, on his Grammy-winning album ‘Unchained.’ Twenty years later, Cornell wrote the next chapter in this unique musical relationship by setting a newly discovered poem of Cash’s to music, to create the stunning all-new song “You Never Knew My Mind.” It was recorded at the historic Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, TN, and marks one of Cornell’s final solo recordings.
The song is featured on ‘Johnny Cash: Forever Words,’ out April 6 on Legacy Recordings, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. The album is comprised of Cash’s unknown poetry, lyrics, and letters, now set to music by an all-star array of contemporary artists. Along with Cornell, the album features new songs by Ruston Kelly & Kacey Musgraves, Rosanne Cash, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Kris Kristofferson & Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, John Mellencamp, Carlene Carter, Elvis Costello, The Jayhawks and more.
For nearly 60 years, the words of Johnny Cash have reached across cultural, spiritual and ideological borders. He was not only a singer of great songs, but a teller of universal truths about justice, faith, love, and independence. It was in this spirit that Johnny Cash: Forever Words, was created.
Recorded primarily at The Cash Cabin Studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee and co-produced by John Carter Cash and Steve Berkowitz, Johnny Cash: Forever Words is also the musical companion to the best-selling "Forever Words: The Unknown Poems," a volume of Cash's unpublished writing edited by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Paul Muldoon.

John Carter Cash called me in March of 2016 asking if I would play guitar on this Chris Cornell track he was working on. I said yes of course and had my mind blown at the same moment. I was going to be on a song with Chris Cornell. Cash sends me a demo of just Chris and one guitar singing this song to learn from. My job was to copy the feel of the guitar part from his demo and play it like Chris on the master track essentially. Went to the Cash Cabin after a couple weeks and laid down two acoustic guitar tracks that go through the whole song. Mr. Cash said it was perfect and that was done. I told friends and family again and again to look out for this song. Eventually I was going to be on a Chris Cornell song. News of his passing was extremely hard to process especially under the circumstances. I never got to meet Chris except for on the song. Honored to have had this chance. Never in a million years would i have expected this to happen to me. When i first heard the finalized mix of the song, i cried like a baby. His voice is so hauntingly beautiful. LOUD LOVE CC FANS

It's funny how some artists find bigger fame after they die, because somehow death puts them in a almost untouchable position. But with Chris, all the wishes that he would still be here, all the "I miss you" posts are real. People really loved Chris when he was around and we really feel his absence. He was such an amazing artist, more than a powerful voice, but able to transmit truthful feelings through each word he sang. We really miss you Chris. And it still hurts.

I feel the same way, i cried the first time I heard this song. Just like I cried many times since his tragic death. His music was a gift to all of us. The details of his depression that his friends and family shared with his fans and the public, allowed many people to realize that depression can affect anyone, regardless of your age, gender, background, finances or status. If maybe we can reach out to each other in some way, be there to talk to a friend, co-worker, neighbor or family member, maybe we can help someone.

I really love this song. Feb/2018 was a time where I was completely lost. I just had experienced a few months earlier my first break-up in my first (and long) relationship. I turned 19 at the time, unemployed, drinking like a 60's big block V8 and in state where I used to feel sorry for myself, crying each time I look to myself in the mirror, blaming me for the break-upand punishing myself for that. It was terrible. I cried a lot in the first time I've listened to this song, specially at the part where he says "and you supposed you never doubted that we were all togheter fine?". After that I went into college and started to work as a teacher and that has helped me to find myself. Now I'm going to my 2nd college degree, I was able to buy my childhood dream car, got married twice and had dated a lot of amazing girls since then, but unfortunately I'm not together with any of them. I don't know who you are, I don't know how relatable my story is for you, but I know one thing: if you're reading this comment and listening to this song while going through a difficult time, remember that it's gonna past. This bad period is not forever. And when all of this stay behind, only the lessons will stand. And this song, as a reminder from this bad moment in your life that you manage to overcome.

Javelin Well, he always loved to make us feel... something. I like to think he'd be pleased to know we feel from this song (well, he probably didn't know how heartbroken we would all be, but at least feeling something lets us know "we're not dead, or caught in between" -- some more of his lyrics that gut me right now). With a lot of today's mindless, vapid artists, I kind of appreciate the feelings that this kind of music invoke. You're right, it sucks and it's going to take forever to get past it. I can only imagine the loss his poor family is dealing with.
