This Video Will Leave You Speechless - Chris Cornell’s Higher Truth

A rare and moving speech from musician and legend, Chris Cornell (1964 - 2017) on meaning and higher truth.
“I never look back, ever. I'm always looking ahead, working on the next thing." Chris Cornell

"To me, music shouldn't be ego-driven. When you go out on stage and play songs, it is. But when you're sitting in a room, writing songs, it's a completely different process. It's a completely different place. It's a creative place, a musical place. It has nothing to do with who likes what."

T&H Inspiration is on a mission to share inspiring wisdom. The goal is to have you pause, think, and reflect. Many of our videos revolve around the extraordinary teachings of Alan Watts that we produce with permission from the Alan Watts Electronic University.
T&H also films and releases original interviews with iconic people who have experienced successes, while also persevering through life's highs and lows. We look forward to sharing more of these perspectives and insights.
Our hope with these videos is to push your thinking. As Alan Watts said “No one is more dangerously insane than one who is sane all the time: he is like a steel bridge without flexibility, and the order of his life is rigid and brittle.” - Alan Watts.

Hey T&H Community! Have you ever wondered why we post our videos at the start of each week? It's because the goal of T&H is to introduce ideas that push our thinking. And, we like using the start of the week to inspire you with new awareness and perspective. In this week's video, we learn from the musical legend, Chris Cornell, who tragically passed in 2017. We'll let his words take it from here. RIP Chris Cornell.

No celebrity, musician or any other “famous” person has ever affected me the way Chris did. He was a beautiful soul with a talent that was other worldly. His music touched me in a way that I can’t put into words. I remember that terrible early morning when I couldn’t sleep and logged onto FB and the first thing I saw was a post with Chris Cornell’s picture, life dates and “RIP”. It was as if the wind was knocked out of me. I was inconsolable. It was a dark day. Since that fateful day, I generally try to feel gratitude that he left us with such incredible music. Gratitude that I was able to see him live several times. Gratitude that I lived and walked the earth when he did. But every now and then I’ll catch a video like this that reminds me of what a loss we have had to endure. I cried while watching this because I miss him so much. Despite the fact that he’s no longer here, Chris will be a part of our lives forever. ❤️

Chris's death hit me so hard too. That dark hollow pit in your stomach that aches and the only thing that can ease it is the passage of time. Chris's music and lyrics helped me throughout life like so many others. I remember in my Honor's English class in high school in 1991, we had to write a paper about Hamlet that was a huge part of our grade. I was prepared but couldn't "intro" it. After hours of frustration, I went in my room and blasted 'Louder Than Love' from the beginning to the end. Walked out of my room and my intro and rest of the paper just flowed so naturally! Years later, Audioslave helped get me thru a God-awful break up. When Chris died, I didn't think that I could listen to his voice for at least a year because it was too painful. But I listened to 'Sunshower' and bawled my eyes out. We were so blessed to have him in our lives. ❤

Chris Cornell got me through one of the hardest times of my life. I was abandoned at 15, I lived in a hostel with very little money, I couldn’t legally work so I had to rely on money from the state which didn’t normally support anyone below 18. I would rent cassette tapes from the library and I would constantly re-rent Soundgarden’s album. Black Days would be rewinded so much I wore the tape out. I had no family that wanted me and no love around me. That song made me feel ok.

It feels good for my dark soul to share more tunes with them that they will quickly and easily sing along too. He's my all time best writer there won't be one close for awhile since there hasn't been. It's a joy to get feedback from new fans cuz they realize he never wrote a bad song and always out did himself from the last albums he did. Euphoria morning and Higher truth! @@markpino4685 I'm a new fan although I recognize many songs that have been hits like Black Hole Sun. My fav is Like A Stone, which I didn't hear until sometime after my husband died in April 2003. From the moment I heard that song it was about my Mikey and me waiting for him in his little house on the creek where we canoed on our first date. He told me that day "Energy is neither created or destroyed, it just changes forms," and totally turned my mind on. We definitely listened to Alternative Rock during the last 5 years of his life, and I feel certain that Mike resonates with the words Chris said in this video. Nobody has proof of the existence of a god. Not sure if that's a direct quote or a paraphrase, and I agree with Chris. BTW, where I am as to being a Chris Cornell fan, I can't get enough listening to him sing! Thanks for the album titles. I have a ways to go in listening to all that was recorded of this beautiful human being singing and plan to specifically study his lyrics because I've been in the black holes of depression. I never knew him and unfortunately I never got the chance to see him live. But for some reason I was still really affected by it. I've been a huge fan of his since I was 12 and more than any other musician, his voice and his lyrics just really struck a chord with me. I still refuse to believe that he took his own life. I just can't accept that. Thank you for this video, it really shows how intellectual, soft spoken and humble he really was. Which explains basically everything the Record Company is going to provide for the artist, and the Money part of it. BUT there's more! There's a Very Dark Side to the business. And I'm not saying every Record Company has this, But, alot of them do. Where the artist pays homage to Satan! 👹 To get his or her career really going! And the company will call in Witches! To cast spells on the song, or put certain words of n the song that pertains to witches or the Devil in order to make SALES!! It's all very dark! At the time of the contract signing, you inFact! Give up Everything!! Just to get that Record Deal! And the Music and Film Industry, has always been that way. Over the years, IT has gotten alot WORSE!! I have friends, still in the Industry. His lyrics are so powerful, so healing, & I’m so greatful to him for the music that has opened my eyes 👀 to see things in a different perspective. Or made me feel sane in a crazy insane world. Children are pure universal energy. Once the adult starts to sculpt an ego for the child is when that energy starts to channel in different ways. I try to not sculpt my child's ego but you only find that you can't not sculpt the go of your child because they ultimately are you and the other parent mixed. Both egos are sculpting that childs ego just by being there with the child. Every interaction you do around that child or have with that child sculpts the ego. The one real way you can help sculpt it into being something amazing is by staying away from violent discipline and screaming and yelling and worry and bad language. When you become upset with something be sure to not direct that energy into the child by snapping at them from their question and what not. Remember you are in control and everything you do is going to reflect through that little you. That little sponge trying so hard to be you.

That was beautiful! And oh so true! Snapping, anger, rage directed at a child messes them up. I came from one of those homes. And then we pass it on to ours and they onto their’s. I was conscious of the fact that I was snapping at my son, and I apologized every chance I could. I was trying to find my own way and swore I’d never have children because I never wanted to treat them like I was treated. But my boy he’s 22, and he’s amazing. I don’t know what I did right I don’t know what I did wrong I do know what I did wrong. But correcting those mistakes it’s never too late. No matter how old your child is still watching you. The key is for you to take care of your inner child. Self-love, and then you’ll have that love to give Not only to your children but to everyone. The world needs more love. I think that’s what messes us up, as we don’t know how to be loving and compassionate towards our self and then we take it out on those around us. The one who made more of us than anything. But first we must mean more to us than anything and then we can show someone else how to do it. I don’t know where I got off on this but I never knew who this man was. He sounds like he was a great guy. A beautiful soul.

9:52 Chris Cornell didn’t commit suicide. If he had have not accidentally mixed the wrong drugs he would have never chosen to act as he did. Ultimately, he was responsible for that mistake but he would never have rationally chosen to suicide.

All he was revealing is that even though he believes its just lights out. that he is not totally ruling out that there could be a possibility of something else. but you can read into it what works for you. because people just want to believe that we somehow live on. because lights out doesn't sound as good.

I consider myself blessed that I got to see him with Audioslave then also his solo tour 🙌🏼 when I saw him solo in Tampa, I was walking around the old theater a couple hours before the concert, I could hear a voice coming through a crack between the old wooden backstage doors, it was Chris warming up his voice, I leaned in closer for a few minutes, I’ll never forget this memory. I literally cried the morning I heard of his death on the radio.

I felt like the luckiest person ever to randomly win tickets to see him live, a totally major bucket list of mine, and had the best night that I can remember at his concert in Louisville, Ky at The Palace Theater. It was a dream of mine come true. My husband and I were so thrilled after being incredible fans of him for so many years. Then the horrible news came shortly after. I can’t even express my sadness, just such a horrific loss of someone so adored by so many and such an inspiration to us all. I’m still heartbroken today and every day that I’m reminded of his loss to us in this physical world 😢 May his soul always Rest In Peace and his voice continue to bring us joy! ❤

Seeing him in this video makes me tear up knowing that we as his fans will not get anything new from him which is so disappointing!! I hope he is up above serenading the heavens just like he did on earth with Soundgarden, Audioslave, and his solo work!!! Love every song he sang and so happy I had the privilege to see him live several years ago at a Soundgarden concert. Rest in peace you lovely man and thank you more than I can ever truly express for every note and word that we all as fans are the better for!!! LONG LIVE CHRIS CORNELL IN OUR HEARTS💜💜💜🎤🎸😇
