Hi, with the new update I don't know if it's just a feeling but the bass seems a little more incisive, listening to some hip hop and rock songs again it seems to sound better, they also added the setting to save eq and various corrections, the percentage of battery seems more precise, also there is a new "Tilt eq" function that increases the treble if placed flat and reduces the treble if placed on one side.

Thank you for the video. Very helpful. Minirigs App making me mad each time, when I need to connect 2.2 setup and even when I just want to connect it to a new phone. And the fact, that the App not working with MR4 is just frustrating. Shame. For this price it should to be better. (And MR3 sounds definitely better on every level, MR4 lacking mid bass).

Step by step 1. Reset both minirigs by holding the power button for 15sec or so 2.choose which minirig you want to have for the master and always use that one(my master is right chanel, but it is supposed to be the left), 3. Turn on master minirig and connect to a phone.(no cables connected to either) 4. Play some audio, while playing press twice for pairing. 5. Turn on slave and press power button twice(keep both minirigs next to each other and signal emitting devices away) Works almost always! Like 9 out of 10 6. Never ever connect slave to a phone, if or smth else buggy happens reset both minirigs and start over.

I've been using the multiple speaker management function on Samsung phones for some time now... and I'll tell you that I like it better than the MR3 APP. It remains a little out of phase at the beginning but with simple operations (able and disable single speaker from phone) it gets back into place and the connection range with both of them connected to the mobile phone is also greater.

Would you recommend the minirig 4? Have the 3 and was thinking if whether to get the 4. Thank you!

Hi, it is certainly a speaker that I recommend for the quality of the sound, the bass and the power in such a compact package, know that the signature has changed, now it sounds well defined perhaps more balanced but with less bass even if extraordinarily deep bass is a little tighter, the gain has been unified on the new minirig 4, for example it will sound as if it were in low gain until over half the volume and after that the volume will rise more in the final phases, for example if you take a minirig 3 and you put it in high gain at 50% volume, you will have to raise the volume to around 70% on the minirig 4 but when you reach the final stages and at max volume you will hear the difference, with a greater volume especially in the high notes in favor of the minirig 4; even if the minirig 3 remains more incisive in the bass, both at low and at maximum volume, at times it seems to be almost more powerful for example on some dance pieces, but I must tell you that for example listening to some jazz songs at maximum volume and also music chill seemed to have more difficulty in the low notes on minirig 3 and some light distortions could be heard, listening for example to some rock pieces you could hear the difference in volume between minirig 3 and 4 more in favor of 4, normally it should have more power given the 10w plus 40w rms for the 3 and 50wrms for the 4. @@TheGuittoMan Hi, it depends on how you use it, if you listen at low or normal levels it might be enough, for certain genres even at higher volumes but if you like to use it at high volumes it's better to add a subwoofer; obviously if you want stereo sound you will have an excellent result even with 2 minirigs but especially at high volumes the sub makes the difference, obviously if you can afford it with a 2.1 or 2.2 system you will have even better results. So I repeat that even just 1 minirig could be enough, depending on the use, but personally if I had to choose between stereo and sub I would choose sub or I would start with a 1.1 system

How's the bluetooth connectivity. That's the real test. How does it compare to the minirig 3 that's the main thing I see people complaining about (especially the bluetooth stereo pairing feature, which I guess you cannot test unless you have 2 minirig 4's)

hi, I'm not having any problems for now using my most recent smartphone, when I turn it on it connects instantly, I haven't tested it over long distances yet but I will soon, using older devices instead I noticed signal loss already at 8 -9 meters and connectivity problems sometimes even closer. hi, yes you can connect in stereo but you have to connect to minirig 4 via bluetooth and then connect minirig 3 via cable, to the lower input of minirig 4, then select the channel, "mono", "right" or "left" by pressing the buttons together + and - keys on minirig 4 and so minirig 3 will play the other channel or both channels, then you can add the sub to minirig 3

Does it sound off having them both play together due to the differences in sound? And can you connect more than one MR3 to the MR4? And can you simultaneously add the SUB3 to that? @@AdrianSalomo Hi, there is a bit of a difference, in fact you will necessarily have to put the minirig 3 in low gain if you want to listen at low volumes together with the 4 and in any case you will hear the more open sound on the 3 depending on the genre you can resolve this by equalizing the 4 also if the equalizer is limited to 2 bands (at least for now) I don't think there are limits via cable, just connect your minirig 3 to the lower Jack of minirig 4 and then from there you can connect to the free output of minirig 3 a another minirig 3 or sub and in turn another and another.... you can manage the stereo or mono signal with the volume - and + keys by pressing them together, with 2 minirig 4 I haven't tried yet but perhaps it is possible to connect them in stereo and then add the other speakers from the output of the minirig 4

@@captainamerica6829 It's quite easy to set them up, but the new app is still immature for me, lots of missing features, I much prefer the old app for the Minirig 3 even though it's full of bugs and problems, from my point of view it's better that the new app doesn't supports the old minirig, it is still very limited and was designed to work with the new one.

The minirig 4 sounds more neutral to me with less lower mid and upper bass bloat and less harsh in the high end with better mids too. The minirig 3 sounds more compressed as well. I was surprised the 3 still sounds more powerful at max with the extra upper bass though.

@@mrholmesly Ciao, non ho un vero preferito tra i 2, a seconda di quello che ascolto posso utilizzare uno o l'altro, mi piacciono entrambi, il vecchio Minirig può giocarsela bene con il nuovo ma devo ammetere che Minirig 4 suona più piatto e pulito e la nuova firma mi piace molto anche se per alcuni generi preferisco il 3, con la nuova app per me il minirig 4 non è completo, mancano varie funzionalità in primis un eq completo ma ad esempio anche la gestione completa dei nuovi tasti, mi piace che possa suonare ancora più forte il nuovo minirig, mantenendo le stesse dimensioni del vecchio, invece per quanto riguarda i materiali, sono molto simili ma non so se sia solo una mia sensazione, sembra che abbiano risparmiato sul nuovo, al tatto sembra più leggero, il 3 mi da una sensazione di maggior solidità, almeno per quanto riguarda le plastiche e anche nella cura dei dettagli, ad esempio nella base del nuovo minirig sul fondo sembra esserci qualche imperfezione, (non so se sia un difetto del mio esemplare o se sia un normale procedimento di fabbrica o se possa servire nello smontaggio) Se guardiamo alla qualità del suono allora questo nuovo Minirig 4 sembra fare meglio, più naturale e con meno sforzo nella riproduzione anche se sarebbe bello poter personalizzare il suono con un vero eq fornito nell'app, almeno come quello presente sulla vecchia app, purtroppo non ho ancora una seconda unità per testare in stereo ma ho notato diversi bug nel tempo sulla nuova app che sono stati risolti almeno in parte, per esempio quando devo collegare il minirig a volte devo continuare a cercarlo con l'app e non lo trova (posizione sempre abilitata perché vedo che senza non lo trova, con vecchio minirig e vecchia app riuscivo a collegarlo anche senza) oppure lo trova ma non si collega immediatamente e devo cliccare più volte, altro fastidio, non so se sia una cosa voluta da minirig o se sia un bug, ma non ci sono avvisi per nuovi aggiornamenti, ogni volta sono dovuto andare sull'app e cercare manualmente e da li poi sono usciti nuovi aggiornamenti, per quanto riguarda le novità ad esempio Accelerometro per monitorare lo stato della batteria per esempio, sembra migliorato, all'inizio non funzionava bene, anche se non sempre funziona correttamente, puoi usarlo anche per aumentare o ridurre gli alti in base al posizionamento, i nuovi led sono davvero belli, la funzione di vumeter che risponde al segnale in ingresso è davvero carina, è stato aggiunto anche il microfono per le chiamate tra le varie features, sto testando attualmente il minirig con luminosità tasti al max e vuled attivo, sembra scaricarsi molto più in fretta, (la batteria sembra durare meno comunque del vecchio minirig3) ad alti volumi dura pochino... contattando Minirig sembrerebbe una cosa normale, anche se ultimamente ho trovato il Minirig completamente morto, come se si fosse scaricato mentre non lo utilizzavo, spero non soffra di " battery drain"... Il gain è stato unificato e potrebbe essere utile, anche se non mi dispiaceva avere i due gain separati, non c'è più il codec aptx ma non sembra risentirne, ora c'è solo un input e un output, invece doppio in e out sul vecchio. Un punto a sfavore, sembra fare più fatica nella connessione con dispositivi più vecchi, ad esempio con un s7 fatica a raggiungere i 10metri mentre con dispositivi più recenti può arrivare decisamente lontano, il 3 non sembra avere problemi con dispositivi più vecchi, per l'accoppiamento stereo invece adesso rispetto al 3 nel collegamento via cavo è tutto semplificato e più pratico, ma ancora manca la possibilità di gestire il sub nell'app, cosa possibile sul 3; la comodità di avere due output forse potrebbe fare la differenza, ad esempio se collego il minirig 3 via cavo al 4, non avrò altri output per collegare il sub che quindi andrà collegato al minirig 3 ma in questo caso suonerà solo sulla parte l o r perché se dividi il segnale stereo anche il sub sarà diviso e perciò per esempio suonerà il minirig 4 il left mentre minirig 3 + sub il right; quindi sarebbe utile poter gestire questo dall'app senza dover fare al contrario e quindi collegare il minirig 4 al 3. Mi è piaciuto il fatto che possa ricaricare rapido con un usb c - usb c fino a 30w pd però purtroppo carica lentamente, se utilizzi un cavo usb a - usb c con un caricatore ad esempio quick charge 3.0, a me ha impiegato in media 8ore o + per una carica completa.. È un peccato che anche il nuovo modello non abbia alcuna certificazione contro l'acqua, mi è piaciuto invece il fatto che adesso è possibile caricare dispositivi secondari direttamente dal minirig con usb c in maniera più veloce che sul vecchio. Come ho già elencato ci sono molti punti a favore e miglioramenti del suono con nuova tecnologia per il minirig 4 ma personalmente come già detto prima ritengo che un app così minimale per alcuni potrebbe essere più pratica ma per me è troppo limitata paragonata alla vecchia, bisognerà attendere che integrino nuove funzionalità, col tempo dovrebbero arrivare altri miglioramenti, si spera in un breve periodo.... Il Minirig 3 resta ancora un ottimo altoparlante, per alcuni potrebbe essere migliore (a seconda dei gusti)

Oh, I see that the LED’s act like UV meter! Does the App allow you to change their function? What are your thoughts on the difference in sound between the two? - Listening to your video (even with reasonable ear buds) will never compare with hearing directly.

Hi, I think they will be able to be customized more with the arrival of the app, for now with the app on Chrome you can choose whether to activate this vu meter function or leave it deactivated and the LEDs will remain white and fill depending on the volume, furthermore you can adjust its brightness.regarding the sound, this is my current impression after the first tests: The Minirig 4 is louder, has a higher output level but depending on the genres listened to the bass sounds deep but tighter, the minirig 3 sounds warmer richer in the bass, more complete, the minirig 4 feels well defined, I like the distinct sound here between bass and highs, it reminds me of a 2-way, even if the voices come out thinner, on the 3 they have greater thickness, the minirig 3 sounds more open, you can hear that there is more volume on the minirig 4 at max especially in the high notes but the sound comes out flatter, furthermore the difference is only perceived in the final phases; although it must be said that listening to certain jazz pieces I felt more cleanliness in the minirig 4 and less effort in certain passages of low notes or where the 3 exaggerated; also on some hip hop songs. The minirig 3 is more incisive at low volumes but also at high volumes, in high gain mode; in minirig 4 the gain is unified. Hmmmmm, why does the MR3 sound better????🤔 Not touching the Minirig4 until the app is properly released. If the MR4 has the same app issues that have plagued the MR3 then I might pass.... While I love my Minirig3 2.1 set up....the instability of the app is infuriating , expecially when you wanna get the best out of both the Minirigs and the subs!!😢😡😡😡 At full volume is when the MR4 sounds louder, you can hear the the increase in volume due the the MR4'S extra wattage....but there is very little in it....I was expecting more. Thanks for the great early comparison! 👍🏽🥳🥳

@@michaelcastro2077 Both situations could be fine, this depends a lot on your preferences, but I don't think the minirig 3s are any longer on sale on the minirig website so you should get them used or new on some other store; with a 4.2 minirig 3 system you shouldn't hear any differences in the sound if updated to the latest version as they all have the same sound signature, also it's probably easier to manage them with the old app even if it has more problems it's much more complete. With a mixed system, however, you would have a difference in the sound signature, especially at low volumes you can hear the difference more; if I remember correctly then if you equalize the minirig 4 from the app, the connected minirig 3 would not be equalized so in this way you can balance the sound a little even if the equalizer of the new minirig app is limited to only two bands unfortunately, but probably over time other features will be implemented, also because in my opinion the minirig 4 could do much more with an app like that of minirig 3; of course with a new minirig 4 system you would have more power and definition even if Minirig 3 has even more bass

I like 3. More lively. That's what you want in a bluetooth speaker, especially outside. Who is critically listening with bluetooth? lol.

This video would be good *if* the transition from one speaker to another would be gapless.

Sei sicuro che entrambe fossero in high gain? Perché la 3 lo è (o almeno sembra) led verde bello luminoso segno dell' High gain, mentre la 4 ha il led verde a bassa luminosità no high gain, questo spiegherebbe il pessimo suono rispetto alla 3.

Ciao, il Minirig 3 è in High Gain mentre il Minirig 4 non ha low e high Gain ma è tutto unificato, di fatti suona come se fosse in low gain a livelli più bassi e si alza molto di più oltre il 60%del volume circa, il led è a bassa luminosità perche il segnale in ingresso è basso a quel livello o dipende dal tipo di musica, lettore e relativa equalizzazione, ( led vu meter in funzione) se invece disattivi il vu led puoi vedere i pallini bianchi che si riempiono in base al livello di volume

Ho avuto la 3 fino a che non mi è stata rubata l'estate scorsa e per me era una bomba di cassa portatile. Ultima domanda e poi non ti rompo più 😂, come è andata la consegna con dogana e tutto?

@@Th3z4cK Figurati, è un piacere, allora sto continuando i confronti e questa è la mia impressione attuale considerando che il Minirig 4 è stato aggiornato alla V11. Nel Minirig 4 il basso suona profondo ma più stretto, il minirig 3 suona più caldo più ricco nei bassi, più completo, il minirig 4 si sente ben definito, mi piace qua il suono distinto tra bassi e alti, mi ricorda un 2vie, anche se le voci escono più sottili, sul 3 hanno maggior spessore, il minirig 3 suona più aperto. Sul Minirig 4 si sente che c'è più volume al max sopratutto negli acuti ma il suono esce più piatto, inoltre la differenza si percepisce solo nelle fasi finali; anche se c'è da dire che ascoltando certi brani jazz sentivo più pulizia nel minirig 4 e meno fatica in certi passaggi di note basse o dove il 3 esagerava; anche su alcuni pezzi hip hop. Il minirig 3 è più incisivo a bassi volumi, ma anche ad alti volumi, (in modalità high gain) ; per fare un esempio se imposti il minirig 3 al 30% del volume, dovrai salire almeno al 50o60 per sentire lo stesso livello sul minirig 4 però salendo nelle fasi finali sentirai che dal minirig 4 il livello di uscita è maggiore. Mi dispiace che ti abbiano rubato il Minirig 3, brutta storia; per la consegna nessun problema, ti arriva una mail da parte dei servizi di spedizioni di Minirig è puoi monitorare la spedizione e i vari passaggi, quando arriva Il postino dovrai pagare direttamente a lui, mi sembra che siano circa 37euro tra tasse e dazi, almeno qua in Italia. for now only the Chrome app is available, you can find the link on the minirig support page in the apps section, once the page is open just click on pair device and it will connect quickly

Hi, I already notice some bugs in the new app, opening is quite quick even if you have to activate the position on Android to find the minirig and sometimes it takes a few moments longer to find it or connect, when open it is identical to the one on Chrome, very limited and too simple if you are used to the old app for minirig 3 but I believe (and hope) that over time various functions will be integrated to make it more complete, initially the Tilt mode remained stuck always active, now it seems solved, but now I see that the link up function remains always activated without having activated it.... honestly for now I'm a little disappointed by this new app, regarding the equalization as on Chrome it is 2 bands, instead of 5 as on the minirig 3 app, furthermore, options such as presets, studio, voice and loud are also missing... I listened to it with the sub 3 and sn which are pleasant to listen to together, but based on the volumes you have to set low or high gain on the sub

@BeautifulZarDJ.AudioReviews I nearly bought 2 v1 minirigs and sub. Tested it at the sellers house off ebay, couldn't get sub to work. Would've paid £220 sadly new phones don't have aux and I tried an adapter but the sound was quiet so have up. Ordered minirig 4 and refurbished sub3 for now. I live 20 mins away from their store and work shop and stock just sells so fast. Looks like the mini rig 3 had better custom options ,seems like they've doubled down on the 4 ,made it louder ,or have it tuned differently? Not seem many reviews yet but I'm taking the plunge as I've heard 2 minirigs and no sub and liked the clarity. I guess the best soumd would be 2 rigs and 2 woofers but £££ is key seems a lot. Thanks for great info, look forward to any other minirig stuff you post 👍

@@bnewson33 Yes, the minirig 3 had a better app for functionality (for now) but disastrous in connectivity with several unbearable bugs, still not resolved, you can perceive the increase in volume on the 4, probably the sound tends to remain cleaner on the 4 but the 3 still has a fuller bass even at maximum volume and on some dance pieces the 3 almost seemed to sound louder, the 4 sounded with more treble but flatter, this depends a lot on the musical genres played, for example on some tracks in more difficult passages the minirig 3 seemed to be in more difficulty while the 4 had less difficulty in reproducing at high levels, yes there are some differences in the signature, not an exaggerated change in the sound but in my opinion very pleasant, the bass is tighter on the 4, but deep the high range is also very pleasant, defined; actually, I haven't tried 2 minirig 4 together yet but the 3 with two subs are Impressive, I tried the 4 together with the 2.2 system and you can party, with quality sound; obviously all together cost a little. @BeautifulZarDJ.AudioReviews Not sure if you've heard of Alan Ross yt,a few years back, he ended up having 2 minirig 3's 2 subs and 2 minirig minis! Cost a fortune ,but I think I'll end up with 2 minirig 4's and 2 subs. I've spoken to them, and they have no current plans for a new sub yet, but they always listen to ways to improve . The older subs took all the bass ,but now it's more balanced. I think minirig and sub is a good start ,then another minirig and sub to follow. Does the new app let you control sub volume separately? What's your preferences on placement, on axis on a custom stand, or on its base? Sub facing you or horizontal?

@@bnewson33 Hi, yes I know who Alan is, I've seen some of his videos, unfortunately you can't control the volume level of sub or minirig 3 from the app, maybe they'll add it soon... 2 minirigs with 2 subs are excellent, already having 2 minirigs and 1 sub is a great result; for now the sub 3s are still going great 😉. I usually place the minirigs on a directional support in front of me at ear height or lower at the right angle, the subs on the ground depending on where I am and the space, I could also place them frontally or horizontally, not I'm too worried about the position since normally they shouldn't be very localized when listening, however I usually keep them 10-15 cm from a wall or corner to further improve their performance; However, I don't always use them like this, for example when I want to listen to music at a low volume in the background or to relax, I also like to position the minirigs well spaced from each other, flat for softer listening

hi, it's because the minirig 4 doesn't have double gain, consequently it starts lower as if it were in low gain and goes up a lot in the last phases of the volume, furthermore the difference also lies in the sound signature

что такое double gain? У меня нет MINIRIG 3, думаю купить MINIRIG 4 для усиления высоких частот своей глухой SONY XG-500 на улице. Как думаете, стоит? у MINIRIG 4 есть высокие частоты? @@BeautifulZarDJ.AudioReviews

IMHO Unacceptable setup. Who usually uses these laying on the side instead upright on the dampers? And for real? ... a concrete wall with sound bouncing all over the place is not a neutral environment. I don't really understand what there is to gain from this ... other than Minirig pushed a "new" product replacing something that was already as good as physically possible to jack up sales again ....

Hi, I think that to best enjoy them, positioning them directionally directly in front of the listener is the best way but you can also place them off-axis if you prefer more diffuse listening, they are positioned on the side directly in front of the microphone. This is the only room where I can record in peace... if you are worried about the environment I have also recorded outside. Partially agree on the new Minirig, in the sense that there will certainly also be the marketing side but the Minirig 3 came out more than 5 years ago, there are brands that release new products every 2 years or even earlier, but for example, the price it is practically the same as the old Minirig, while other brands greatly inflate the price on new products, they have made many improvements, the sound quality has increased and also the sound pressure with the same size, now it has a usb c charging port with support to the 30w PD fast charging, new electronics, new software, they have added new buttons which should (in the future) be completely customizable, they have added new RGB LEDs, Accelerometer and microphone for calls, instead in my opinion the part that is still very immature is the new app, for me the old app was better, much more complete even if very problematic, almost unnerving, especially when using minirigs in stereo.
