I have a couple of minirig minis and the battery died in one of them outside of warranty. I'm in the US and they want about $55 plus postage their and back to replace a $2 battery. I asked if I could just buy the battery (since it's really easy to replace) but they said they are committed to not allowing end user repairs. So it's either pay half the price of the speaker to get them to fix it or scrape it (according to them). They even use a "special" 4 pin connector on the battery in the mini to make sure it's not easily replaceable. Since I'm not into tossing stuff I bought my own battery and soldered it with their special connector and it works just fine now. I was really disappointed with their stance on right to repair. Their justification is that "We have found that almost every time a customer has opened their Minirig and tried to fix it, they have broken it and it always has to come back anyway." As much as I love their product I'm not going to buy anything else from them as long as they intentionally try to make their product difficult to replace easy components.

Similar experience with @Minirigs, unfortunately. The hardware of their speakers is great sound wise. But when a problem occurs, in my case with a disconnected charging port, they indeed ask that you ship it to them at half the cost of a new one. That does not fit with my values of durability and ecology. By the way, their software and connect-ability can do with some serious upgrades (dec 2022) because regular resets to factory settings are not the preferred way of using my speaker set (2 minirig mini's and 1 subwoofer). Tips for @minirig to massively improve an already great (hardware) product: 1) improve options for customers to repair their purchases if so desired by them (it's ok if we opt to loose the warranty you know), 2) Use USB C ports only please. Come on guys, it's ok to be English, but move with the times please, 3) Improve your software. It can do with a serious make over and improvement of connect-ability, 4) Please keep on improving your product. It's great sound quality, but if some other manufacturer will build something without all these issues, you lost me as a customer. Just saying... Thanks for the great video!

there's a very good reason for using 4 wires no cell should ever exceed 4.2V so the pack stays balanced to prevent overcharging and fire, so each cell is individually managed

Best speakers hands down. All the usual things like Alexa to NFC chips that others have just don’t have the clarity or power these have. They need to improve the app and upgrade the Bluetooth to make it easier to get connected to all your devices without getting muddled up - I seem to spend a lot of time having to disconnect from other things to connect with the device I’m on -2023 it should be on . with basics like that. But once connected and with Sub added it is a monster sound for its size….🤯 After seeing this I’ll be doing my own battery changes for defo.

The reasons for the power connector not being usb are, as I remember, firstly...the designer wanted the unit to be as sealed as possible and mini usb's are not as dust or water resistant as the connector he used. The other reason, is that the connector he used has no right or wrong way round...In the dark, when you've had a few beers or whatever, a little usb is a real pain in the arse. And eventually will break!

I believe it's just a 5.5mm X 2.1mm DC barrel plug - and it needs 5V DC which is what you get out of USB. So you can use a USB to 5.5/2.1 barrel plug adapter or any 5V wall wart that outputs at least 500mA.

Great video! I've come across the unfortunate problem of having an aux jack break off within one of the ports. Hence the speaker is trying to send signal down there and now the other port is rendered useless. I can't connect the sub I love so much anymore! I think I'm going to have to remove the soldering and disconnect the "full" port entirely. Unparalleled speaker in its weight class, but the software and hardware are not user-friendly at all. I would still buy another, though. It's worth it.

I made the mistake of trying to open one of these from the top, and the tightening force cracked the top plastic ring, completely destroying the speaker. I also destroyed the subwoofer by putting the Minirig Rucksack down too hard onto the pavement, and cracked the plastic ring on that, too. My luck hasn't been very good with these speakers, but I would still like to get another set.

You don't need the app to use them in stereo. It's not exactly slick but it's quite possible. I think they sound great in stereo. But I would say you need to flash them to the latest and matching versions or you might be unlucky and get feedback type squeal which goes super-loud. Mine have been OK since I flashed them this month. (So, yeah - you do need the updater app for that!).

@@YaFunklord This Minirig sounds more refined than those large soundbox and Jbl models (excluding the pb1000 which is nice), thing is that you can have solid 8 hours of music with 2x Minirig 3s and 2 Minirig subs 3 and that Minirig system completely blows away Jbl Boombox or other crap like Diamond Box M, Ue Hyperboom while they're in a size class of the Jbl Xtreme 3... @@lukabosnjak3829 The thing is, these are outdoor speakers, so amplitude and battery life are usually the main thing that matters. Hifi-equipment actually sounds way worse outdoors in my experience per watt, per kg or per m3. Even the JBL partybox 300/310 suffer from this problem, they are TOO hifi for outdoors, delivering poor battery performance and need a lot of EQ work for the environment before sounding good. Was planning to sell them, but now I'm going to leave them in a more permanent outdoor location which occasionally has access to power.
