Ғылым және технология

Lets find out...

Does anyone know if this one, or another type of Chinese belt sander takes the same belts as Ken Onion sharpeners?

For sharpening the cutter, an inclined - adjustable table should work perfectly.

Ineffective steel processing does not mean the poor quality of the grinder. It is just not matching the hardness of the abrasive coating of the belt with the hardness of the workpiece.

for the price, the quality is quite good, and for it's size

so we finally got off the road and into our new house, and have been steadily moving in, etc etc including setting up my watch shop and my unimat SL and it just dawned on me I have no bench grinder(I sold my previous one in the move)or any way of sharpening tooling or whatever. This might be my next purchase. I machined and built a larger version of this a lifetime ago as a young kid taking trade courses and this one would be a great project to build. Did any prints or schematics come with it? I like the idea of a cordless drill motor too. few weeks ago I bought a complete dividing/indexing head set for my SL planning on doing a video. You done any indexing on yours?

Hi Mike. The little sander came fully built and assembled. No schematics with it unfortunately. To be honest though it's hardly worth bothering building one since they are so cheap! (About £25 - £30) Coincidentally I was also gonna do a dividing attachment video next! 😯 I've used mine a few times but for nothing more interesting than drilling a few holes around the outside of a part.

cool. although I've worked with dividing heads in the past, I haven't got the chance yet to tinker with these and figure them out. they're still all packed up! you should make a simple vid. I like your vids-short, to the point and well done, unlike my train wrecks I do!

And for many replacement belts you wish to own, how easily available are they to get ?

The belts are fairly common 10x330 size. I just bought a pack of 5 German made zirconia belts from Amazon for less than £4.

What power Adapter would you recommend for this type of belt sander ? , i have one which is 12v to 24v 1A but their is very little torque on the motor and only takes a little pressure to stop the belt ! , causing the motor to Pulse . Tia

Hi. It will be the low amperage that is the problem. I think you will need something that is at least 3A. Preferably 5A. 🙂 I would highly recommend a lab type power supply over a power adapter. They can be a bit pricey but they have a magnitude of uses!

Normally how long the belt can last? Can i use it to sharpen knife?

Hard to say, depends on the materials being ground. The standard belts won't last very long sharpening a steel knife. The blue zirconium belts last a lot longer. 🙂

Didn't realize how tiny it is. The pics in promotion make it look larger. Probably not what I want. Thank you for demonstration.👍👍 Great commentary 🤣

It needs some way to secure it to a surface. Following for future videos.

That little thing seems alright for what it is, especially since you can dial in your power depending on what you're working on. Yeah man, put some rubber feet on it (or a big rubber mat to work on) and get some decent belts. It'll be nice for doing small and precision work.

A rubber mat is a good idea. 👍 The sander is a nice little thing. I purchased it for using indoors over the colder months, I also have an idea of using a cordless drill battery to make it portable. Which would be useful. 😎
