The oldest performances on youtube are when they competed on " the sing-off" in 2011. Thats where Pentatonix started.

If you REALLY want to start at the beginning and work your way up, go back just a bit before their first video. The Sing Off TV competition is where PTX was birthed. Short version - Scott, Kirstie & Mitch (aka The Trio) were already a tight group. To compete in the show they needed 5 so Avi and Kevin were added. They actually all got together for the first time the day before the auditions. Watch PTX's evolution from the beginning and see 5 supremely talented people gel into the powerhouse we know today.

Mitch was a senior in high school and Kirsty and Scott were freshmen in college. Avi was also in college and Kevin just graduated from Yale (which is why he couldn't join the group in person until just before the audition). I hope you choose to react to a version that contains the judges comments to see if you agree or disagree with what the judges say. (They're a little more laid back than the American Idol judges.) I was surprised to learn about the origin of "heavy metal". And they were up against groups with a lot more experience -- some professionals with years of experience singing together. You can see them grow as a group as they move through the competition. There are certain performances were I think you'll see that they stood up and made statements.

I also vote that you watch all 12 of their performances on the Sing Off Season 3 (from 2011). Watch them in order (and make sure the clips you get are more than 5 minutes, so you know you've got the ones with the judges comments). Also, watch them ALL the way to the end....sometimes there is bonus content with the group after their performance. This is when they became who they are. The 1st episode gives their entire back story :-).

MrDuckBear did a nice job of splicing each week's sing off episode intro, performance, judges comments, and outro (sometimes PTX, sometimes other show info) into cohesive tracks. Later in the series they sang two performances per episode.

For a great taste of them Live do their Popspring 2016, 4 originals done live and you get that full taste of them in concert. They are crazy!! old..."Somebody That I Used to Know" was their 1st, I love La La Latch.

La La Latch is an insanely good arrangement. They and Ben Bram (arranger) did themselves proud.

Scott and especially Mitch are great rappers. Check out their Superfruit videos like HipHop Goes Broadway or Feeling Myself! You should also check out Kevin's Fifth from a previous tour. It is live and he is so freakin' talented!!!

Great reaction! I enjoyed it. You can call Avi's voice "sexy" any time you want, because it is!! This song has sooo many moments by each of them that knock my socks off! Each of them shine in this upgrade. (Whoever the fan was that invented that phrase of"upgrades" for PTX songs was spot on!)

Totally love the way the whole group rallied behind each performer as they each did their own "solo" version of the song and then intertwined each performance to collab an inter collective masterpiece of all the segmented performances. Beautiful!

LOL I loved your face when Scott started his stuff! I love this song...even though I'm old enough to be your mother! Too good! They are showing their individual personalities with the style changing! It's great!

It's absolutely crazy how good PTX is. No instruments and such awesome sounds.

PTX Volume II was unbelievably good. This was the first track. This EP also included an original called Run To You and the Grammy winning Daft Punk. Only seven songs but every one was mind blowing. They were so good from the beginning.

Blinding Light is another great one, Havana and Can You Feel The Love Tonight just to name a few. You will enjoy all of their creations. Oh Come All Ye Faithful is freaking fantastic too. They are just too good.

That’s one of the things I love about Pentatonix - it’s such a balanced group, and they seem to honestly work to make sure everyone of them gets to shine, no drama, no backbiting, just the music. And SUCH music.

Great reaction. Thanks. They are pretty amazing. Pentatonix started their latest world tour in March 2023. They have already toured Singapore, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. They are off now, taking a break and shooting scenes for a Netflix movie. In May they will start the UK/European leg of their world tour. In August, they will start the USA/Canada leg of their world tour. I hope that you get tickets. They are amazing live.

If you start with the Sing-Off - realize that their first performance was literally just days after Avi and Kevin joined the group. They were fabulous right off the bat. My favorites are their rendition of Let’s Get it On by Marvin Gaye (Scott dominates) and Dog Days are Over, one of their last performances. You’ve got a lot to get through, so take a deep breath and go! I’m looking forward to all of it. Peace …

Quick correction-Their audition was days after meeting each other. After they found out they were on the show, they spent a few weeks in TX at Scott’s parents house rehearsing. Scott’s dad came home from work one day and asked mom if they got a drum set and she said, No, that’s just Kevin. 😆

There are a few videos where they rap. Watch their original Sing where Kevin has a rap solo.

Better take it way back to the sing off. And watch them blow your mind. It’s starts at the beginning and by week five they are getting really good and then they get better and better by week 7 they never look back. Sing off week 10, 11 and 12 require a seat belt😅
