Imagine by Pentatonix may be one of the most important videos of this century. This group took a classic, timeless song of tolerance and peace and modernized it as only they can. They are a perfect example of what respect and love can be like. Five people with differences in race, religion, gender, and sexuality can do beautiful things when they work together. I cried when I saw and heard this the first time. I still usually tear up when they go into Wall of Sound mode. Pentaholics are the ones who need to see this the least.

Their ability to work together and be friends despite their diversity epitomizes this song. Kevin's religious beliefs and Scott and Mitch's lifestyles in the outside world would be an issue but for them they learn to put their differences aside and just get along. Avi who is Jewish is as enthusiastic in the Christmas albums as all of them even though he was brought up in a Jewish lifestyle. And for Kirstin being the only female you think it would be very difficult but growing up with Mitch and then Scott the comfort levels within the group make them one big Melting Pot. A perfect representation of everything this song was intended for. Their upgrades of Say Something and Shallow are excellent. In Shallow Avi the Bass has left the group and been replaced by Matt the new Bass the only change in the group in the entire 12 years they've been together. Great reaction new sub ✌❤😎

That was a GREAT way to start. From left to right. Mitch, he goes by he/him. Scott, Avi (who is no longer with the group. But, is pursuing a solo career. Kevin, who beat boxes and plays cello at the same time. Kirstin, she goes by Kirstie (sounds like thirsty) Matt came into the group when Avi left. ALL of their songs are stellar. They do covers and originals and have like 200+ videos. I'm REALLY happy that you enjoyed it. Thank you for the shout out. But, it wasn't necessary. Just the fact that you are bringing their music to a new and diverse audience is enough. As far as what to do next, just pick anything. They are all equally as good. Btw, they have videos of them live on stage. They sound even better live. If you can imagine that. No pun intended. I'm glad that I hady notification bell on. So I didn't miss it. Oh, and baby girl spit up is just part of life. No one would've probably noticed if you hadn't said anything. Take care and thank you again.

Absolutely love this video. We are all different and should celebrate our differences while also acknowledging we are all the same at our core and are all just human. Glad these were your first two tastes of PTX cuz these songs are killer. You should react to Sound of Silence by Pentatonix, it has their bass Matt in it (Avi, their old bass, was in this video but he left the group in 2017) and he’s got a killer voice as well. PTX is definitely diverse….two white gay men, two black straight Christian men (as of 2017 when Matt joined), a bisexual latina woman, they show that everyone can actually work together if we try. We don’t have to have these fights between different communities, we can all come together and find friends and family different than ourselves. As long as the common denominator is love and respect, anything is possible.

Okay, Pentatonix 101: • First verse, bearded guy: Avi (pronounced Ah'-vee, emphasis on the first syllable) Kaplan, lyric bass. Avi is an operatically trained basso profundo - his lowest notes have blown out speakers in live performances - but his range extends through the baritone and into the low to mid tenor range. Avi is also the only member to have left Pentatonix; he resigned in 2017 for personal reasons. He has since gone on to have a very successful solo career - you can find his KZread channel by searching on "Avi Kaplan." I recommend subscribing. • Not in this video is Avi's replacement, Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable). It's hard to be sure since Matt appears to still be growing into his full range, but it appears that his current range matches Avi's. Matt tends to be a quieter singer than Avi, probably because he isn't operatically trained, but he's a very good fit for Pentatonix. Matt is another black guy. • Second verse, tall blond guy: Scott Hoying, lyric baritone. Scott's range extends from well into the bass range to well into the tenor range. In live performances, when the bass has a solo Scott will take over the bass's harmony line during the solo. • Third verse, dark haired guy to Scott's right (our left), Mitch Grassi (pronounced Grah'-see, emphasis on the first syllable), natural counter tenor (or contratenor - both terms are correct). Yes, that was his voice. Mitch has a range of just over 6 octaves, but he's most comfortable in his higher registers. We call the astonished look people get when they realize that the angelic high voice is coming from a guy being "Mitch slapped." Don't let it worry you; it's happened to all of us, generally more than once, because Mitch is full of surprises. • Fourth verse, the only woman in Pentatonix, Kirstin (also known as Kirstie, rhymes with thirsty) Maldonado, mezzo soprano. Kirstin may be most comfortable in the mezzo range, but her actual range runs from alto through coloratura soprano, with some gorgeous whistle notes on top of that. • Fifth verse, black guy, Kevin Olusola (pronounced Oh-loosh"-oh-luh', primary emphasis on the second syllable, secondary emphasis on the fourth), beatboxer extraordinaire and tenor. Mostly Kevin is too busy being the entire percussion section to sing; the fact that he has a chance to solo in "Imagine" is just one of the things that make this rendition of this song special. You didn't hear it this time, but Kevin is known for the great beauty of his falsetto range. And it's unusual, but I've heard him sing in the high end of the baritone range. In a band that's full of phenomenal talent, Kevin still stands out. He has a pre-med degree from Yale. He speaks five languages, including Mandarin. He's classically trained on piano, saxophone, and cello. He's performed at Carnegie Hall twice, once on saxophone and once on cello. He has perfect pitch. He beatboxes while playing the cello, a technique which he developed on his own and which he refers to as "celloboxing." He's one of the kindest people there is, and when he laughs the whole world seems like a brighter place. Pentatonix has won three Grammys (the only a cappella group to ever win any Grammys), and has a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame (again, the only a cappella band to be so honored). They got their start when they won NBC's a cappella competion show _The Sing-Off_ in 2011 and have a huge following. They regularly play to sold-out venues world wide. And everything they sing is gorgeous. Welcome to the Rabbit Hole.

Glad you enjoyed this video! I chuckled a little bit about your initial diversity comment - you had no idea they were about to tell you just how diverse this group really is - and how well they make music together! I would also recommend Daft Punk for a reaction. Between Imagine (almost a ballad), Bohemian Rhapsody (rock), and Daft Punk (robot EDM ?), you'll have a pretty good idea of just how many genres they can cover. Another couple of suggestions would be Can't Hold Us (rap). Problem (pop with a rap section). or Say Something (Kirstie lead, very emotional).

Welcome to the long winding road of Pentatonix, you are in for the journey of your life 😊 Pentatonix never ceases to amaze me, at just how incredibly talented they are, and take their voices to newer levels, we have never heard before.....there is something so special about their ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only their voices, but their delivery is also their gift!

Each member of PTX is a musical unicorn! All of them are accomplished song writers and arranges with varied instrumentsl abilities besides what they do with their voices (as if just their voices weren't an over abundance of talent). For instance, the beat boxer, Kevin Olusola, has a body of work found on his own you tube channel that is its own separate rabbit hole. He has a pitch perfect beautiful tenor voice; is an extremely talented song writer, arranger and producer; and plays multiple instruments to include being a master trained cello and saxaphone player. Kevin has played both instruments at Carnegie Hall as a teen ager. He developed a talent called cello boxing where he beat boxes and plays cello at the same time. One of his talents is to reimagine classical pieces like Beethoven's 5th and modernize the piece with his cello and beatboxing. It is mind melting! He also speaks multiple languages fluently including Mandarin and spent time using that language to work at the Chinese American Embassy as a young man. He graduated pre med from Yale University and was on his way to med school to become a cardiologist when Scott saw a you tube video of him cello boxing and asked him to join Pentatonix in a televised acapella music competition called the Sing Off. The other members consider Kevin the most talented of them all. But, each member has such impressive individual talents, skill sets and a deep involvement with all aspects of music making. Scott and Mitch have a vlog you tube channel called Superfruit that has amazing content, from hilarious vlogs to wonderful musical collaborations and skits to sublime vocals and fantastic original music. Avi Kaplan is an ooera trained bass profundo that is the only member to have left the group and has an amazing solo body of original work that is good for the soul and packed with talent. Scott has the most amazing vocal range and riffs. He just released a solo song called Mars that is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. He wrote the song and produced the official video and is so talented. He promises to be releasing more solo music in the future and I can't wait!. The woman, Kirstin Maldonaldo has starred on Broadway. There is so much to each of them, but I have already gone on too long. Other Pentaholics will fill in the gaps 😊 Jumping down the PTX rabbit hole leads to multiple deep rabbit holes and one of the best musical journeys ever! Hope you continue with it and I subbed in hopes you explore all of these musical geniuses.

With all the craziness going on in the world and particularly in America right now - this song is more relevant than ever and I love how this amazing group of alien unicorn individuals have done this song. The cards show how each one is different and what they share with the person they pass the card off to. So Mitch and Scott are LGBTQIA+, Scott and Avi are both men, Avi and Kevin are Americans, Kevin and Kirstie are Christian and they are ALL Human, it's Such a good message and so beautiful and heartfelt. Loving the reactions!

Wonderful reaction to a beautiful cover. Welcome to PTX! Pentaholics will jump with you if you fall down this extensive rabbit hole - subbed! There is over a decade worth of material with covers including medleys and evolutions, collaborations, mind-blowing originals, a giant catalog of re-imagined Christmas music, and incredible side projects by each of the individual members. Pentaholics tend to call PTX covers "Upgrades." I am a Pentaholic and I don't disagree, but I don't think it's exactly possible to upgrade music by, for instance, John Lennon, or Queen, or Simon & Garfunkel, or Michael Jackson, or Elvis, or Beyonce, or Leonard Cohen, but I personally do prefer their versions. I feel they are always respectful of the source material, and their covers showcase their Pentatonix-ness while celebrating the original artist. They are all a bunch of humble music geeks like we are, after all, they just also have the mind-blowing talent of 6 (six to include both basses, Avi and Matt) solo-worthy artists who bless our ears by coming together.

They do personify Lennon's message of diversity and peaceful coexistence. 😊 Mitch was born male, and uses he/him, though he periodically dresses in more female-assigned fashion. The cards are how they identify, and a card that is passed between two people is a trait both people share. So Mitch and Scott are both gay, Scott and Avi both men, Avi and Kevin both American, and Kevin and Kirstie both Christian. So the cards highlight differences and similarities at the same time. Great reaction, I'll sub if there continues to be more Pentatonix.

Given recent Bud Light news I think Kid Rock needs to watch this video. Or even just listen to the original song.

For some stupid reason their record company is more worried about the visuals of the video than the audio, which is what usually gets video's blocked. Apparently part of it is the pausing, but I've heard over 20 to 25 reactors say once they basically blocked the video, they would get approved. So just make the video transparent, or black it out, or put words over it, and see if that helps. Some of us will tell you that we don't need the video, we have seen it enough we know what's gong on, and we are here to watch you and your facial expressions more than the video, and would rather not hear the music chopped up. Some even after 10 years of watching the video still want to see it, but don't care if you pause every 5 seconds. So it's a balancing act for you, I'm glad I"m not the one trying to please everyone. I have a habit of saying, I'm doing it my way and if yo don't like it, you can go somewhere else LOL. But maybe that will help. I really enjloyed this reaction, you have the perfect personality for this. As someone else said, don't worry about the baby girl spit up, most of us have been there, the rest will be. I don't usually sub off one video, but I subbed this time from the first video. See ya next time around.

you listened to Bohemian Rhapsody by them and had the same reaction.. surprised they did it with their mouths. You must have listened to one before the other and knew how it worked. I'm confused.

They were and still are a very diverse group. Avi (the first singer) left in 2017 and was replaced by Matt who is Black. Scott and Mitch are both gay. I think the next PTX song you react to just has to be 'Hallelujah'. All have side projects and Avi is now an established singer songwriter in a very different genre so you have absolutely loads of reactions ahead of you!
