For me, the best films on streaming services seem to be the 'low budget' ones (a term of derision years ago, and implying a bad film). But so much more can be done with less money these days. The writing, the rising young talent and passion for the art all get their best shot. But when budgets get bigger, profit-making takes over completely, and the interference ruins it. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I’m 60 years old and life goes by quickly. When older people told me this when I was a kid and in my 20s I couldn’t comprehend the reality of what they were telling me. Even if I could go back in time I don’t know that would be wise because it might change the course of all of the wonderful moments I’ve had that have led up to now. Be careful what you wish for.

  • @Ingens_Scherz

If he meant "life" as in all life, then Mr Williams was almost entirely wrong. A tiny fraction of life is fallible memory, stored in the fading minds of all the members of the human race. That's why we're so desperate to find better and better ways to externalise, process, back-up and protect those memories. They are precious to us, even though the more successful we become at preserving them, the more they become nothing more than a temporary record of our collective forgetfulness. in contrast, the vast majority of life, beyond humanity, is a complex combination of momentary interactions that decide the path of evolution, and little else.

So many should have, could have in life. You stop for a moment too long to ponder you will miss the next hammer strike. Stumble forward without learning anything from the experience, well then you surely better brace yourself for another painful blow to same finger. You learn to live with this you, you have been given , we build up our callous and intern it makes our character. When we instead hit the thumbs of others around us or love dearly we tap into an area if sorrow, remorse, regret, ect. What ever adj. Describes your personal circumstance. This is character changing, or even the complete abandoning and burial of that character. If you make it that far you realize most of your time is spent. 50 years old..if I get an extra 30 years would be generous. I start regretting again and I'm wasting more of that precious time, keep living bored. What you didn't do, right? The first time in just try to contact the ones You haven't contacted that you love. Every night when we sleep we are going through the hole in the floor. When we wake we must make deliberate choices and not just go through the motions. Take chances, drive a different way to and home from work, wake up earlier, change your wardrobe, get a new perfume, a new hair style, change your diet, etc. Constantly delve out of your comfort zone and live if you don’t like your current situation. Make different choices. Those choices open doors in the floor.

That was beautiful. Thank you for making it. Wow. I already feel like my life is a choose-your-own-adventure game, and the mystery of not knowing what the right thing to do is, but trying something anyway, hoping that it turns out right, this captured that feeling. I was expecting a typical homemade/indie piece of crap with poor lighting and incomprehensible sound but instead found a really well-made film with sure-handed direction. Looks expensive and professional but I'm sure the budget was tiny -- well done to everyone involved. I wish there was an actual cast list rather than just a scroll of actors' names, and if that's the only criticism then it's pretty small potatoes. I feel I would be doing the film a disservice by referencing "Primer" so pardon me in advance, but I was reminded of how I felt watching that, just without the cold & clinical aspects -- and they're very different films, of course. I was also reminded of "This Quiet Earth" in the way that there's not a lot of dialogue and you're not given all the details and in some ways they're not the important part anyway. I like it when I'm left to piece something together not so much from what's there but from what's not there. Anyway, very enjoyable!

I've only seen pictures of my grandparents in their younger days. If I had a day or two with them again it would be the sweetest. And then meet their kids. Get to know them all a bit. Leaving that time would be so hard. Eventually I would tell my grandfather what was up and prove it to him. I learned some of his dark secrets after he died. I would use that to prove I am his future grandson. That and our obvious similarities. He was a wise man. He could have comprehended it.

@eren mori Ya, if only hollywood made a movie about nazis & slavery.... XD. WTH?? That's like 90% of their movies! What they really need to teach the next generation is about communism and how much worse it is than both slavery and nazis! Ask any North Korean. Slavery isn't just in the past in the United States. It is the present day communist countries where people are currently slaves. Western countries were the first countries to abolish slavery in the _history_ _of_ _mankind._ It was considered normal until abolitionist Christians pushed that it was not very Christian to own people. They deserve to be praised for this act, not reviled. We even got half the country to abolish it even earlier than the other half. The democrat party fought and fought for slavery and then afterward they fought to keep people segregated. [Oh yes, and as Ted Kerz wrote...slavery is still around in africa and asia. It is pretty much only western countries(or eastern countries with a large western influence such as Japan and South Korea) who _don't_ have slavery. Then you have all these foreigners all over western countries calling European indigenous people racists and bigots without a hint of irony! It's astonishing!]

Second time I've watched this movie. Obviously I like it. Being an Australian movie, this would have been made on a shoestring budget, however I think it's a lot better than many big budget films out there. No fancy CGI, very little if any foul language, no sex scenes, blood and gore factor kept to a minimum and some deeper things to ponder upon going on beneath the time travel theme. It takes an admirable amount of skill to make a decent movie without using CGI, swearing, sex and blood and gore. I hope that it wasn't all due to budget restraints. We need more movies without all the bullshit tricks. Well done!

Loved ❤ it, brings back in perspective what is truly important, don't loose it before time runs away in a different path.😮

What a beautiful story. It is so refreshing to see something that is so poetic and emotionally moving. Also, the music score was awesome. Please, continue making such great movies. The masses are sick from the twisted agenda, the moral pollution, the social engineering that pours out of Hollywood that is called "entertainment." The people now have the tools, that once only belonged to the big studios. Use those tools to forge ahead and prove to the world that it is the elites that are obsolete, and not us.

An existential, thought provoking, and very touching film. It expressed how meaningful the choices we make are, and that life is not about oneself but rather the impact we have on others. It also conveyed that self sacrifice for others is the only thing that makes our own life worthwhile and therefore, good. Excellent movie! Thank you so much for sharing it on KZread.

So you agree that somehow him following his teachers advice to "do the most good", the best thing he could think of being to save his grandfather... directly (why he cannot just do the same with his ex remains a mystery) somehow influenced saving the life of said ex later on? Otherwise the ending is rushed and meaningless. But it does seem that was kind of what the film makers settled on

If only . . . I had a nightmare the night before I watched this. Not a horror or scary nightmare. It was more a dream of discovering why someone tried so hard to teach me something that I was too stubborn and afraid to face and only discovered why that person had tried so hard to teach me. When I woke up I was crying because I'd learned it too late and I was alone. You see, my husband died 8 months ago and I am truly alone. If only, I could go back and not be alone, living with regrets and asking for forgiveness that I'll never have, if only . . .

You were not meant to stop it. As I as child dreamt of my father dieing for 1 week, then he died. The day he went to work I tried to stop him. I was 8. Obviously it didn't work. He left & never came home. I believe, even in time travel we're not meant to change death. I believe we may gather knowledge but we should not attempt to change things.
