Milwaukee M18 Utility search light - Unboxing & field review

Hey Everyone!
*Edit* The LED's are definitely throwing off enough heat to melt any ice on the lense itself! **
I've been trying out Milwaukee's new remote control utility search light and have not been disappointed! Pretty sure I could project the bat signal with this thing. 🦇😏
"Utility Remote Search Light is the first of its kind, allowing Power Utility users to SPOT LINES and FLOOD FIELDS from up to 1,250 yards away. This cordless light performs with up to 4,250 Lumens of TRUEVIEW™ High Definition Output and adapts to provide either spot or flood mode. Also included is a pre-paired wireless remote control that enables the light to rotate, adjust, and power from afar. This light is also ONE-KEY™ compatible, making it controllable via the ONE-KEY™ online app. The MILWAUKEE® Utility Remote Control Search Light is weather-resistant to survive outdoor use. The LEDs never need to be replaced with a 5-year tool warranty and a Limited Lifetime LED Warranty."

We've been using various Milwaukee LED worklights and flashlights for years. Nice thing too, their LEDs are very high quality and colors look right like halogen. This is important for electricians needing to see colors correctly! 🙂

Love the 12.0 batts. Awesome to know this comes with one. I was thinking about buying the mower when it comes available and just selling the mower as tool only. Last I checked that package " deal " will be 999. At that price point I may as well just buy two 12.0 new and forget the mower package but surely there will be some deal in the near future of said mowers release date that will make it worth it. If its only 50 bucks, well then thats 50 bucks I can spend filling half my tank! Or doing other fun activities such as drinking my free time away.

Seems like a decent lighting accessory. The only thing I'd be curious about is how long that battery might last if it was stored in the toolbox for a few weeks in below zero weather. Of course, that's a problem with most any battery and even a cell phone needs to be inside your jacket just to maintain some battery life.

Quality light, but a tad rich for my game. I'd like one I can bolt to the truck and power off of the onboard 12v or 120v system (I run 5100WH of LiFePo4 on my truck with solar and a 100A alternator charging). That being said, I like everything about this light but the $1150 us price tag. Thanks for a great review, I don't know as I'd bother fooling with a new light in -25. Stay safe (and warm) out there!

Hey im hoping someone could shed some light. How are single phase transformer secondaries' center tap grounded (once bonded; neutral) actually bonded to earth? Why can you bond one terminal of the secondary without high resistance and thus a short? Is there a resistor between center tap neutral and bond of single phase? Or is there some sort of work being done (is this why transformers heat up, (as well as eddy currents causing heat)) Why is there no ground fault between your center tap (which is an ungrounded hot conductor until it is bonded to earth?) and earth? There is no relation until it is bonded so is this why? Is it because the easiest path is still to the transformer secondary, rather than to ground, and thus not allowing the breaker to sense the current, causing a short? Is neutral technically a hot conductor, just at ground potential?

@@Bobsdecline gotcha thanks. i'm a makita guy but milwaukee has really been kicking their butts in power, battery life, and product line in the last 5 years or so. not enough that i'd consider switching... but there's definitely some tool envy.

1st off why would buy such a thing to put on a big corporations work truck. Eqipment an tools are the responsibility of the corporation. 2nd. Installing eqipment on corporations eqipment is a huge no no. Hell I got in shit for putting a couple hard wires led work lights on my company 1 ton welding truck. Being I'd be 30 to 50 miles from the paper Mills logging camp working on company eqipment in 40 to 50 below night shift welding by my self. Yes the company truck had helgen work lights on it but them supper hot lights would alway burn out from bouncing down skid roads. Bulldozed winter roads over frozen swamps. They were led work lights from the company camp shop tool an supply crib. But I didnt clear it with camp Forman. I charged 3 lights out to the numbered company truck.
