    This review helped me get the M12 Rocket Light and at a heavily discounted price. I was able to pick it up for $199 with two 6.0 batteries and a charger. I tested it at home and I couldn't be happier. I was originally contemplating the M18 light which is more powerful but its just too bulky for my purposes. Thank you so much for this awesome review! Cheers!

    Thank you so much for the comparison!...I have 2 of the m12 rocket lights. They are not the best lights I have used but they are so handy. I prefer to have 2 M12’s than 1 m18 rocket light. It allows me to place them in different locations and minimize shadows while I’m working. I do plan on getting an m18 rocket at some point but I haven’t felt the need yet. Thanks again!

    I have found a great way to deal with the M12 battery removal. Just take the entire tool and battery that is attached and throw it as hard as you can toward a hard surface. It doesn’t help and usually breaks something else but it makes you feel better for a fraction of a second.

    2:06 I use the same hand soap, good stuff, b/c I don’t break out when using (usually get the double pk though)👍🏻 1:23 Agree, 99% of the time, I’ll keep the m18 & m12 batteries. As use so many, that having “more” is totally fine with me. Having extra batteries with the Milwaukee Top Off, & m12/18 power source (which still is a good “power source” for charging USB devices when can score the gen 1 for $21.35; couldn’t pass it up😉), is very handy, imo. Besides, can always sell, give away, or return them (w/8n time frame) if get to many one day; too many batteries.....is that even possible 😂 Always a pleasure Jeff, see ya on the next ✌🏻

    Getting the battery out of the m12 version is insane!!! Milwaukee needs to make an extender compartment insert to allow the battery to hang lower so we can get more leverage. I like the lights so much that I’m trying to figure out if I can cut away some of the housing, rather than return them. The Lux testing was really misleading. The M18 clearly has more lumens and puts out more light from a further distance and a wider area.

  • @jeffostroff

    @jeffostroff

    3 жыл бұрын

    Nothing misleading about it, they are different forms of light measurement that measure light differently. The M18 has a bigger head which spreads out the light and while it might be around the same lux as M12 at only 12" away, because the M18 head is larger, that light will go farther, so in an integrating sphere where they measure lumens you will see the M18 outperform.

  • @mfetzer1

    @mfetzer1

    @@jeffostroff Yes, thats why to the average person they would be confused. M12's head is more compact making it easier for your device to measure the Lux of all the lights closer together. Great video as usual though.

    I wish I would have seen this before buying the M12 Rocket. It's junk IMHO. Same problem you described with pulling the battery out, and the AC power jack is loose to the point where there is poor contact and the light will turn off if I move the unit around. It has to be positioned in just the right spot for it to stay on. The store I bought it from (same as the one you got yours at) tells me that I have to bring it to a service centre. Nearest service centre is 2 ½ hour drive away, sooo no. That's the thing with Milwaukee; the stuff that they make that is good is really good (M18 Framing nailer, SawzAll, cordless drills). They really suck at other tools like this though. Buyer beware!

    THE Peter North! I still love my M12 Rocket light in spite of the battery sticking issue, because it is so light and easy to carry around and setup quick. But you really gotta use those 6 aH batteries or the battery drains to quickly. I usually set it u when I know I got a short term 2-3 hour gig with it.

    Yes, it appears that small head puts out it's light concentrated into a small area. but the M18 even with a lower lux measurement at 12", will throw more light a farther distance. so it lights up the room more with the bigger head.
