Thanks man. I'm going with the Milwaukee. I've got their biggest battery already so makes the most sense. Plus it handled those thick branches with ease.
Thank you for the review and work safe advice.
Wow. They both looked good.
Great review, lots of visual use, and honest commentary!!
Excellent comparison! I own a Dewalt trimmer so I needed to know about the Milwaukee trimmer. I’m impressed with what I’ve seen.
Thanks. I bought the DeWalt with your help.
Great review!! Thank you, your review helped me decide!!!
Good vid, tnx, just ordered the Milwaukee. I'm almost 71, been pumping iron for years so I'm up for the extra weight.
thank you for the advice, sir.
Thank you enjoyed your presentation.
You trim those hedges like a pro, slashing across large overgrown branches. Great review. Thanks for taking the time to put it together

These battery saws are light and give you a lot of confidence. With eye/head protection and gloves, after a few days practice you will be surprised what you can do!
Thank you very useful. I have ordered a Dewalt on the ground I have their Drill and impact driver so batteries are already here.
Excellent vid bro! Thanks for making this as it will help with my final decision. God bless.
I note the last comment was a year ago, so I hope you remain well! I got the DeWalt 3 months ago and my yard is 0.75 acres surrounded by shrubs / hedge . In my view, the DewAlt is a superb machine. I also have a DeWalt Planer so battery life not an issue as I can swap them in. I can't comment on the Milwaukee as it is not available here in Ireland but hopefully, you will have another country to add to your collection!! Keep up the good work!
Great comparison and fair too. MW looks more industrial as you say, but for home owner use the lighter (DW) will probably do 90% or more of what you need. Now you have a viewer in New Zealand too! Thanks
glad you bought up about back pain,i have issues with lower back pain and spurs on my spine, also osteo-arthritis,i started mowing lawns after being a baker for 33 years,

Thanks for this video 👍
They have what you are talking about. Works great
Thank you for the review I’m here in Victoria on Vancouver island BC Canada.
Just bought the Milwaukee weed eater with pole saw, hedge trimmer, and edger. I really like the Milwaukee blower for light use. I’ll buy the saw and regular hedge trimmers too. So far I’m impressed. Keep the good content coming. God bless you!
totally can relate being 50 with bulging disc...I do a 30 minute stretching routine everyday and build my core in the gym almost feel like 25 again lol also use lighter battery powered equipment as well. thanks for the video!

I was a self employed landscape gardener for years and I’m your age and I had to retire from exhaustion! 😓I had the exact same range of Stihl trimmers and the long arm extension multi tool and the big boy Rough Cut brush cutter. I could do so much with these powerful machines. But I need to have deep muscle massages regularly on my upper back now! I already have a few DIY tools that use the big De Walt batteries, so I think I might take your advice and go with the lightweight DeWalt trimmer and give my body a break! 👍😄
Thank you for the review watching from homerglen Illinois
Hey David, keep in mind that not everyone is the same. I am going to be thirty soon and have major lower back issues. For me personally it is better to have a riding zero than it is to have a stand on zero. That is to preserve what I have left.
I have a dewalt. I love it
Look at the new Milwaukee Quick Lok system. Has what you described. (pole trimmer + Hedger attachments)
Great video, hello from Ireland
Excellent review of two great trimmers. I am not as young as I used to be, so I think the DeWalt just does it. Weight is a huge factor and the slightly shorter trimmer blade is helpful. Best wishes from Ireland.

I see our European 18v version of the dewalt has a second safety switch in the D grip, which has to be squeezed in as well as the trigger. A good safety feature, but it's so annoying, I'd just hold it down with a cable tie. Since I have a number of dewalt power tools already, it made sense for me to go with the dewalt trimmer, as Milwaukee tools in the UK is so expensive when starting out. I'm sure I've seen a dewalt pole trimmer on Amazon. I would say the dewalt 18v would do 500 - 600 yards cutting hawthorn 6ft tall on a single 5Amp battery, which would be equivalent to about 2 or 3 tanks of fuel on a 2 stroke trimmer. The weight is a bonus, since using all day can be tiring on the arms
God bless u and ill pray for your health
Thanks for the info...I'm looking for a good trimmer and was thinking about a DeWalt....this just settle it....Thanks Again

David, a great video as always. How true your comments about age are! I am 61 and a sleep number bed and battery operated tools are what is needed now. It's amazing how far ''commercial grade'' tools have come. Better than gas IMHO. The other thing is now I have wear proper work boots for foot support. Don't forget about your feet! May god bless. John
TIM from Canada. Home Depot‘s in Canada or wherever you are look for.. (Milwaukee M 18 fuel QUICK LOK.. in the kit comes with the string trimmer 8 mp battery and charger..). Attachments you can get chainsaw extended pole. Hedge trimmer. And edger.. all these attachments are separate.. what I put in brackets comes in a kit.. unless you can use any M 18 battery... but they suggest you use the high-voltage..8 AMP. Battery but any batteries from any M 18 will work

Battery power has come along way. Me being in the remodeling biz I’m loaded on batteries so I usually have plenty of batteries. Only time I have trouble is with my help, I can’t seem to teach them how to conserve the battery,, to not pull the trigger unless your ready to cut, or let off off as soon as your done cutting or don’t over load the tool your using to give it its time or your burning excess battery. Thanks so much for commenting

I may get the Milwaukee, but I wish it was as light as the Stihl HSA66. I had and killed the Dewalt hedge trimmer in one season and I maintained it. I am a late 40s, out of shape 5'3" woman and I killed it. I am pretty tech/tool savvy, so I went down a long troubleshooting and internet rabbithole trying to repair the Deadwalt, and then started calling appliance repair guys to see what they knew. They were familiar with it and said it could not be repaired because of how it was designed, and that parts were not available even if you could get into the gears. They told me to go with Stihl, and if that was too much dough to get the Milwaukee. Those can be repaired when they fail. The reason I got the Dewalt trimmer is I already had the battery system from a chainsaw purchase, and at the time I bought that battery saw it was the best option out there. There is a lot more competition now. If you have a dead Dewalt one, don't toss the shield if you are going to replace it. They no longer include that when you buy one.
great video

I like Dewalt cordless tools. I had an old cordless driver with the same battery for 15 years. I just bought the Dewalt pole saw. Used it for an hour or more before the battery ran down. It is really nice, but it is top heavy when all three sections are connected. Its to be a xpected being 15ft in the air. A perfect design would be if the head and trigger sections could be connected as a 2ft mini chainsaw.

Outstanding real time review Daithi , (Irish for David) 😂 I’m getting the Dewalt as I’ve a stack of batteries already. Plus if it’s anything like the Strimmers I’ll be happy. The Milwaukee certainly has some better advantages. Always pros v cons. Thanks for sharing 🇮🇪🇮🇪

hedge trimmers are really rough on the back- the battery operated Stihl with the battery held on the back is a good option
Fellow landscaper here, just bought myself the milwaukee blower and I love it.. perfect for small jobs. The Milwaukee trimmer is next on the shopping list. Been using Stihl pole trimmer and husqvarna trimmer for a couple of years but getting tired of the fumes and looking to go electric. Thanks for the video! Joni / Finland

Check out Milwaukee Quick Lock system that’s might be really handy for you having string trimmer, hedge trimmer, edger & chain saw with one motor. Thanks for commenting
Be aware that the Dewalt units, at least the 820 type, cannot be disassembled for servicing without butchering it up. The black portion of the cover is molded to the plastic case.
I have both DeWalt and Milwaukee tools with batteries. Great video and for letting your yard go so you could show us how they work and sound. The Milwaukee sounds stronger for homes with a lot of bushes. I don’t have that many so I’m going with the dewalt for it weight plus being a year old it was cutting good. Note If I had a lot of bushes I would get the Milwaukee. Also I’m going to check out Milwaukee new pole system before I buy, that someone mentioned in one of the comments. Take care Everyone

To me, the best feature of these cordless tool is instead of big battery. Put a smallest battery like 2ah one. It will do the job and save your back!!!

It's more about the weight balance, thats why the battery attaches at the very back of the handle otherwise you fight with it being front heavy. You can swap out the smaller battery for when you have to lift it above your head

I just went from an Echo gas hedgers to a Dewalt hedger. My back feels better too. I like the battery ones better. The Dewalt now comes with the end guard. The gas hedgers weight more. Plus I don’t have to worry about the gas and carbs. The only thing I did not like was the Dewalt came with no blade guard. That was so stupid of Dewalt.

@@DavidFDay I made a mistake there is no end guard on the Dewalt. It was on the Stihl which I was going to buy but no store had their 66 model in stock. I could not find the Milwaukee either. My Echo needed a new carburetor but Echo did not have them in stock and they said the wait would be 2 months. ACE Hardware stores are just horrible because they are independent owned and they don’t carry all the stock advertised. I have both Dewalt and Milwaukee batteries and Home Depot had the Dewalt so I just bought that tool for $139.00 because I needed to trim a large ivy wall. Any new hedger will cut better with new sharp blades.
You can start @ 4:34. Easy to compare. Dewalt lacks torque.

thank you for the great video. Do you also run the dewalt 20v blower and 20v weed eater? I'm young and have a heavy duty stihl hedge trimmer. But ive got some super deep and tall shrubs so i'm thinking about purchasing the dewalt for the lightweight. (already have dewalt 20v batteries)

I owned the m18 milwaukee hedge trimmers sold them to the oldman I wasnt impressed (to bulky) dewalt trimmers are easier to maneuver, although the milwaukee m18 blower one of if not the best handheld battery operated a homeowner can own. Milwaukee is the best tool.
