I've been running the hell out of mine for almost a year. I haven't sharpened them yet although it probably couldn't hurt, they are still pretty sharp. The 9 amp battery lasts forever in the hedge trimmers. I use fluid film spray to lubricate the blades about once an hour if I'm just trimming hedges or every half an hour If I'm brush hogging and abusing it. This machine can take it. I have the whole m18 garden line up with the exception of the blower. I would like to mention that the string trimmer overheats if its ran hard in hot weather. I've overheated the chainsaw a few times but it doesn't have nearly as big of a problem with it as the string trimmer. I have gas for those occasions. I still do love the string trimmer for lighter duty work and honestly its got a good amount of power but has that overheating issue I mentioned. I used to have the m18 blower and its pretty weak compared to some other cordless options out there. Blowers are probably where cordless lacks the most in power and run time but they can really come in handy for smaller properties. People wont mind when you work and about 1/4 the noise as the gas guys.

I'm with ya, last company I worked for just started using the stihl brand electric hedge trimmers and it changed my life... you have to try the extendable pole style hedge clipper and get off that ladder... or at least cut the ladder time in half!

Tim Engle start a you tube channel and film hundreds of hours of landscape work and reach a large audience of people who can relate to you and generally like listening to how you present. Do tons of cross posting advertising for you company and you tube brand. Then go to tons of trade shows and speak to the sales reps and visit the facilities and if you are lucky and on a good path, someone may throw you a piece of equipment just because they know it will be good for business. Chances are if you have already built a little bit of a reputation for yourself, only quality companies will want your business. Just my opinion though. Thanks for the videos Keith!

I've used the Shindiawa 24 in trimmer. It's blades are coated with hard chrome and they don't hold the sap as a non coated blade. I've been very pleased with this trimmer, and I've done a lot of trimming. In fact I've worn our one set of blades and ordered a second set. But be careful replacing the blades. The yoke has small needle bearings some dropped out and I couldn't find them. Now I have all white paper under my unit in case some fall out, but I have learned to not lift off the yoke and chance losing the bearings. A new yoke cost me $60.

To expand on how Milwaukee tools withstand being dropped I worked on large natural gas compressors and at least 3 times by accident I dropped my m18 fuel 3/8 impact off the top of a 30ft tall compressor on to gravel and it never missed a beat Milwaukee is amazing quality on all their tools, my m18 impact impressed my co workers so much they stopped carrying dewalt tools and started carrying Milwaukee

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, BUT- do you know if you can change the blade size on the Stihl HS45? I just bought one off craigslist and it has the 24" blades & bar and was wanting something more like 18". Is it possible swap all that out, or is each machine designed specifically for a certain size?

People misunderstand electric motors to gas motors. Electric can actually put out more power. People are skeptical, but I’ve personally seen Makita 18 volt chainsaws out cut Stihl chainsaws of same size in head to head. Electric has came along way.

My Husqvarna trimmer was pretty good, but it died on the second gas fill. Don't think wasn't even broken in. Yes fresh gas and correct mix ratio. My problem is Husqvarna refused to repair under warranty providing some chicken schiff excuse. Should have purchased a Stihl instead, never buy another Husqvarna again.

You should try them on some overgrown bushes and really push them. Second how much are those batteries I’m guessing close to the cost of the tool so are you really going to send 3-4 batteries out on a job site. I’m guessing that’s about $800 in batteries when that gas trimmer only cost about $400 and ur guys will have there hands on it the majority of the time there working. I know what people will say but it is really easy to set down batteries and loose them especially working outside

No offence-if you have to pull on your gas equipment 15x-it is not being looked after correctly...my 4-stroke mowers are 1-2 pulls and 2-stroke equipment is usually 3-4 when cold. Takes only a minute to fill a take and get back on task...you would need many batteries to last a day then charge them overnight for the next day-for my purpose-gas is more practical
