Mikey February - 7'1" Tri Plane Hull Single (Midlength)

Спорт

Watch Mikey February enjoy the glide of our new Tri Plane Hull Single. This fun, user-friendly midlength incorporates a fresh take on a Al Merrick’s Tri Plane Hull bottom design he refined and built during the ’70s and ’80s-a Greenough inspired planning hull that generates tremendous “lift” for added speed and ease of control.
Working with surfer Devon Howard once again (see CI Mid), we set out to build a better egg-style, single-fin-a genre of surfboard that can often look cool and groovy but tend to ride slow and sticky, sometimes lacking pizazz or drive through the turns. By incorporating a Tri Plane Hull bottom with a Al’s classic egg outline, and combined with our modern style rail and rocker profiles, we landed on a rather spicy midlength design that has a surprising amount of trim speed and drive through its turn in small surf-making this a reliable long-railed performer in conditions ranging from subpar to above average.
The Tri Plane Hull Single comes with beautiful color lamination options that are sealed with a matte finish gloss coat and outfitted with a minimalistic logo treatment which pays homage to some of Al’s early surfboard creations. Look for a Tri Plane Hull Single at your local CI dealer, or start building your custom today here: cisurfboards.com/products/tph...
To compliment this beautiful midlength, Devon also worked on a custom built single-fin that is available in three sizes: 8”, 8.5” and 9”. The “CI Single Fin” has a sleek, rather upright template, which helps the board pivot and turn on dime. And its conservative rake profile provides a nice flow on down the line point breaks. Our general sizing guideline goes as follows: 8” for 6’7” & under; 8.5” for 6’8” to 7’5”; 9” 7’6 & over. The CI Single-Fin can be found at your local surf shop or here: cisurfboards.com/products/ci-...
Mikey is riding a 7'1 stock model with 21 3/8" width and 2 13/16" thick. For reference Mikey is 6'3 and 160 lbs. (Kilos 72.7).

So refreshing to see someone in tune with the wave and actually “ surfing “ instead of airs, spins and other circus tricks .

Buttons Kaluhiokalani back from the dead! Mikey is a bit lanky looking on a standard shortboard but he's such a stylish surfer on these types of boards, it's cool to watch.

Random Surf Humor (of mine): What I like about this world is that there's something for everyone. The lazy surfers - malibu, cocoa beach, makaha The hyper high performance surfers - Saquarema, Rocky point, Haleiwa, Spanny Haus The point and shoot surfers - Kirra, Skeleton Bay, Mundaka, Restaurants, hatteras (lighthouse) And the ones that just can't handle what the bastards above did to us: Pipeline, Teahupoo, Nazare, Jaws, Mavericks, Cortes Banks, Waimea Bay, Puerto should market those boards in FL - seem like a pretty idealic florida wave shape.

Plane as in surface Tri-3 3 surfaces in contact with the water. I think it’s supposed to channel the water through and ramp up speed. I have a hoglet with this design and have found it’s impossible to surf quick like a short board but when I slow down and take bigger longer pumps and so on it’s a great board. Kinda forced you to surf old school

This is a beautiful flowing dance, but there is no need to ride a 7'1" that conservatively. My shortest board is a 7' 0" and it can get it on.
