Tri Plane Hull Single by CI Surfboards

Спорт

Watch CI Teamriders enjoy the glide of our new Tri Plane Hull Single. This fun, user-friendly midlength incorporates a fresh take on a Al Merrick’s Tri Plane Hull bottom design he refined and built during the ’70s and ’80s-a Greenough inspired planning hull that generates tremendous “lift” for added speed and ease of control.
Working with surfer Devon Howard once again (see CI Mid), we set out to build a better egg-style, single-fin-a genre of surfboard that can often look cool and groovy but tend to ride slow and sticky, sometimes lacking pizazz or drive through the turns. By incorporating a Tri Plane Hull bottom with a Al’s classic egg outline, and combined with our modern style rail and rocker profiles, we landed on a rather spicy midlength design that has a surprising amount of trim speed and drive through its turn in small surf-making this a reliable long-railed performer in conditions ranging from subpar to above average.
The Tri Plane Hull Single comes with beautiful color lamination options that are sealed with a matte finish gloss coat and outfitted with a minimalistic logo treatment which pays homage to some of Al’s early surfboard creations. Look for a Tri Plane Hull Single at your local CI dealer, or start building your custom today here: cisurfboards.com/products/tph...
To compliment this beautiful midlength, Devon also worked on a custom built single-fin that is available in three sizes: 8”, 8.5” and 9”. The “CI Single Fin” has a sleek, rather upright template, which helps the board pivot and turn on dime. And its conservative rake profile provides a nice flow on down the line point breaks. Our general sizing guideline goes as follows: 8” for 6’7” & under; 8.5” for 6’8” to 7’5”; 9” 7’6 & over. The CI Single-Fin can be found at your local surf shop or here: cisurfboards.com/products/ci-...

1979 I'm living at The Rincon Cliff House in Mussel Shoals. My neighbor next to me gets a new 7'0 CI single fin Tri Hull. About a month later he lets me borrow it for the day while he goes to work at Bernhamwood. Rincon is 4 to 5 when the tide dropped at about 3 that afternoon. That board asolutley blew my mind! It made me hate my Bradbury pintail. Within two weeks I had my own.😅

It's a great compliment to it. Is a better small wave board. Has more foam all around, gets up to trim speed quicker, tighter turns possible in small junky waves due to single fin.

Do you think it's risky asking your local shaper to make something like this? I worry about him getting it right first time. That's one advantage of the mass produced, but perfected, boards.

you are confusing this with a different Hull. the dished out, no edge, hard to surf hulls. this aint it. Looks closer at bottom. This board is up on top of water, not down in it like a hull, and has user friendly rails.
