Head butts, Mike was throwing the head butts. Too bad that dumbass didn't think before he threw it and that goes for the 1st fight too. Once Tyson hooked up with Don "the murderer king", Tyson's career was over. You knew it when Buster beat his ass.

The reason Mike was having a tough time in these fights ls because the peekaboo style rotations were halted with the clinch and defensive blocks, and body suppression to remove clear shots and punch combinations, the way evanders corner made him slippery and cooled him off with the squirt bottle alongside the clinch made him hard to pin down while delivering compact punches himself, not an excuse for ear bitting but having all your best moves like that must be frustrating.

No. Tyson was having a tough time because Buster Douglas already showed the world how to defeat Tyson: Use a stiff jab to keep him on the outside. When he tries to come in, let the straight right hand fly, and rip some hooks and uppercuts. If Tyson does get on the inside, clinch him up immediately, wait for the referee to break, then start the process all over again.

Dudes typically built like him would like to sit on the outside and either counter punch, throw flurry punches, or move slickly and throw long ranges punches most of the time. After all these years I'll say the same thing to this day: Keep throwing headbuts, don't be mad when you get bit. As Tyson himself has said over the years, Holyfield has the clear height advantage, so why tf is his head constantly under Mike's? I actually think Holyfield is an amazing fighter, but his head truly was his third fist

He didn't usually throw his head what he did was almost spear with his head a little intentional a little his style he always layed with his head and that space when Tyson came in Holyfield would place it there and also lean with his head so in the first fight they where just banging. It think on the.inside it was clever even right on top of u Tyson would move his head one side of you and bang to the other by having his head there it disrupted that. He seemed to be a little more agressive with it in the rematch. Was a little of both mike was also so used to the space being his and they reason ref would ways say step back because neither would in the first fight.

Disagree on that one . Tyson hit on the break numerous times... After the bell as usual and the one they ways show Tyson comes in.with.his.head and he buckles. The first round holyfield leans with head as Mike attacks n throws a.combo again Tyson. Is lunging with his head. The one that all the people miss.that was from holyfield was after he knocks him down on the ropes he throws left right and.smash and it looks like a punch almost like f!!?!! you. The ref said the heads where literally banging in there because Tyson comes in and holyfield leans with his as he always has. I agree he got a little to over agressive in the rematch and before Tyson bites him he tries a standing armlock to break his arm very rarely brought up a tactic he would use again against Botha.

The ref was zero hesitant reducing 2 points straight away. On the other hand, Tyson complained the intentional head collision multiple times, completely ignored. Like once or maybe twice, it could be considered 'accident' and could be overlooked, but at least warning should have been given to stop that happening. At the time, Tyson had a lot of issues outside the ring. They probably wanted a new figure to represent boxing.

@Toe To toe Holyfield did more headbutts/low blows in the first fight than the second. Those shots did a lot of damages, period. Yes, it's a fact that he won twice, but he won twice with all those fouls without being penalized. I'm not even talking about 'the prime' Mike Tyson like others do. Holyfield fans seem to refuse to accept he played dirty . He was amazing in cruiser weight, no doubt. Since he moved to the heavyweight, he used all those dirty techniques to exploit advantages against bigger opponents. You can say he was good in a way because he was never deducted a single point throughout his career.

@Toe To toe You are right on the point that Tyson could not really fight on the heel but Tyson being a bully fighter does not mean that he threw illegal blows intentionally like Holyfield. Tyson was able to bully bigger opponents, despite his size disadvantage. Holyfield used all those fouls in order not to get bullied by bigger opponents. And did Holyfield find a different ways to win against James Toney? Holyfield was taller of these two and was not able to use his range against a smaller opponent.
