I and a few other boxing fans have a theory here in South Africa, that the tyson "rape" charge was a bull shit story and it was put in place in order to get Mike Tyson out of the boxing scene for a while so the other heavyweights could get a bit more spotlight time, and the managers and promoters of the other heavyweight boxer could make some cause all the attention and money was going to tyson, but to be honest, Before tyson went to prison right, he was unstoppable, lewis, holyfield ect none of them wanted anything to do with tyson, tyson went down hill booze drugs ect messed even more so with tysons head.

If an NFL team gets to the SuperBowl, and they decide not to practice for the big game, and they get demolished, they can't say after the fact, "Well, we lost because we didn't really practice seriously for it." No one will care. People make their own decisions on what they want to do with their time. And they live with the consequences.

Tyson's body shot then uppercut should've sent Holyfield to the canvas. Incredible that he took them shots and kept coming forward.
when i was kid and sitting beside my dad , and watched him being both excited and hesitant. cuz he was not able to cheer but just enjoying this intense and legendary match. cuz he liked both of them great fighters! he always explains and introduces them to me while we're sitting together and watching either guy's match . respect for both legends!

@kr4559

Mike was a combination puncher. Almost everyone he beat he knocked down 5/6 times and stopped by ref. Most dangerous puncher ever no way. And Tyson himself has discussed this. Shavers Foreman Liston would literally KO a guy with 1 punch. Tyson had to throw with devastating speed and combinations once that went he got beat easy.

Bro these guys today couldn't compete with Holyfield, Tyson etc. Even Lewis who I wasn't a fan of, but definitely was great. They would have beat the piss out of Fury and Wilder especially lol. These guys today in the heavy division are bums. Either don't have the grit, or skills, or natural ability. All the real heavyweight athletes are going to football, basketball etc. Not boxing. So we're left with guys like Wilder, Fury fat Ruiz etc

I think Tyson knew Holyfield wasn't intimidated by him and once Tyson lost that psychological hold of fear on his opponent it changed the dynamics of Mike Tyson performance. Holyfield was fearless and that by itself crippled Tyson.

Tyson depended on his aura of fear to win a lot of his matches enable to get into the opponents head. Holyfield wasn’t even shook
That body/uppercut combo (replayed at 5:13) would’ve killed most humans…. Rendered 99.9% of Mike’s former heavyweight opponents unconscious. I think after he landed that combo and Holyfield kept fighting, Mike knew he couldn’t stop him at that point.

@@doctorone1028 i agree. But only add, that holyfield's that ability to keep tyson at arm's length, or successfully block his blows with elbows and fist before it reaches the target , comes from his long hands, which is a natural advantage.
