I was able to bring him back to life since he taught me what to do if anything happened to him. Today he has fully recovered thank god. And he’s got a great job and making life happen. I read your book Mike, I could barely put it down, I finished it in 3 days, it is an AMAZING book, very well thought out and written and I pray it helps others, it definitely gave me some insight into my addiction and how it effected my loved ones and I am so unbelievably grateful to be sober today, my Daughter truly saved my life. I tried Oxy a few times, but Perkoset 30's were my drug of choice and is what I got ultimately hooked to. I am so grateful I never got into heroin, I have lost two of my very bestfriends to overdose, one was my childhood bestfriend who passed on Easter of this year and my adult bestfriend was bi polar and died 3 years ago, I don't believe be meant to die. I have been told by a Dr that it doesn't matter who you, you can be the pope, if you do opiods long enough, you WILL become addicted. 💯 truth right there! There NEEDS to be more help for mental health and addictions and not a substitute of another drug for addictions. I LOVE how you said several times in your book Addict's are people too, a fucking men! Let's help these people. I Left a 5 star review and a comment on Amazon Kindle and apparently my comment wasn't acceptable to post for some reason there lol so I am doing it here. God bless you. Ty for doing this podcast. P.s. Your Gram, she is a true hero for always sticking by your side, even if we realize now she was enabling you. Your Mother also, she never gave up on you, yes, she showed you tough love when she had to, but she is a very strong and amazing woman. God bless them both, I believe you said your Gram passed, may she rest in peace. They are true angels on this earth. You should really think about mental health and addiction counseling, you would be incredible at it and you are already changing soooo many peoples lives and I know this fills a piece of your soul that feels guilty for your mistakes in the past. I am a Christian and I believe God forgives and loves and can see into our hearts and souls and you have already been forgiven. You are a good man, who had a horrible addiction, two separate things.

    This whole podcast has been extremely insightful and engaging and surprisingly relatable in some ways - as someone who had a near death experience due to my Crohn’s disease and required an emergency ileostomy, I had the whole tube through the nose experience while awake too (as they had to drain my stomach) and Listening to Mike talk about it in such a graphic way made me relive memories I’ve suppressed but also made me feel weirdly understood. I’m very happy he touched on how addictive pain medication is as that’s another thing I’ve dealt with and the recovery after being on strong medication like this for months feels like an awful battle without an end… it is SO bad that when it came to my second surgery I was too scared to ask for pain medication out of fear I’d have fo recover from them after too! I’ve always enjoyed and binge listened to the True Geordie podcasts but I have to say this is my favourite ones so far

    2 be fair opiates aint hard 2 stop. At the end of the day 1 week and it's over. There are a lot drugs that can take years to stop like benzos (valium etc) That shits deadly to just stop taking, very dangerous. Maybe sounds harsh but opiates are a huge thing here more so benzos

  • @kevmaxfly4050

    @kevmaxfly4050

    4 жыл бұрын

    You're kidding right? Opiates are easy to stop and just take a week? The hardcore physical withdraw does subside after one week, but not all physical symptoms stop after one week, and the mental connection is worse than any other drug. Not to mention the reason it is so tough to stop is because the physical symptoms that first week are exponentially worse than any other drug. If you have not experienced the physical and mental symptoms of both benzos and opiates then you should refrain from making statements like that to people who are looking for information.

  • @MFBloosh

    @MFBloosh

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@ScottishThings That's dumb, my guy. As a former opiate addict, it's the hardest thing I've ever had to do. It's been over 3 years since I last did Hydro or Oxy and I still get cravings. Just because the withdraws go away after a week or 2 doesn't mean the urge to get high does. That can stick with you for life and be just as stressful to deal with as the withdraws are. Also, saying stuff like Valium or Xanax is deadlier than opiates tells me you don't have much knowledge about the stuff you're talking about. Extremely disrespectful to act like you know when you don't. Especially when it comes to topics like this one.
