Glad I bought my i20N 2 months ago , it’s one of only 2 here in Ireland , very expensive here compared to the uk , sad to see the end of petrol turbo powered hot hatches !!

Well missed that upload at the earlier time!! Some of us have to work!! Liking the new format. Had a double blowout on my then Tesla M3P at 21.00 on a Friday night on a deserted country lane in deepest Peak District with no phone signal!! Had to walk 1 mile to a farm to get help, ended up leaving it in the farmers yard for 48 hours before I could get anyone out to fit some new boots.

Sad news indeed as I have had both versions of the 130N and luck would have it i ordered my 120N last week after a fun test drive in the wet. It grips better than the 130N performance in the wet. On the subject of claiming against the council for a tyre i was unsuccessful even though many people hit the same pot hole and damaged tyres on the same day and the hole was filled by the evening! Thanks for your top notch reviews.

Longer format is definitely better, more Wednesday videos like this one please!

Yes potholes, possibly most talked about subject among motorists. There are plenty in the vicinity of our village in Northamptonshire so I do photo the most severe potholes and send in the locations and pics to the local council. Fortunately they do research them and have repaired them within 28 days so result!! But they only seem to repair the ones sent in with a photo so bizarrely don't repair any others not photographed!!

Evening Pete. Yup I think the new longer format is better. I think the 3 minute format should sadly like the i20N bite the dust. Good luck with claiming from the council, I think I heard something recently that said that they dont have to pay out unless they are already aware of the existence of the pothole.

I got my I20 N at the end of last year, what a cool car. I took it over a Mini JCW.

Got a 70 plate i30N fastback in shadow grey with red trim only done 15,000 miles ,was going to change it but i dont see another car the same were ever i go...still the best exhaust sounding car around..

I know in Canada you can go after the municipality if you have proof, photos of the pot hole and damage to tire/rim, they will cover it. I had a family member get damage covered. We have serious pot holes with the snow and cold, freeze and thaw that occurs. I never drove either of those Hyundais, but they look like fun ! That podcast sounds like a great idea but a little too far away for me sir 😂 The new format is okay but I do like the timer as it’s the OG !

Love the new format without the countdown that we all know you will go over lol 😂

New format sounds good. Had issues with pot holes, but you need photos, but some council now you can see if the pot hole has already been reported and this can help your case.

Re potholes I hit one heading home and successfully got the wheel repair and tyre paid for by my local council (KCC) However but they deducted some of the payment as the tyre in question ( front near side) was over three months old. But I was not out of pocket too much. Make sure you photograph everything and get the location info google maps are good for this. I was able to supply the evidence and get paid out quickly.

I would prefer a "Mid Week 300", a timed 5 minute version. Yes, you do need more time, but open-ended is not in your best interest. We all have other things in our life, so you need to be a "good steward" of our time. Keep up the good work, under any conditions.

I've got the i20n and am in Australia so am super fortunate to still be getting these extraordinary cars at least for the time being... Come on car makers, start making fun and interesting cars again and inject some design into them again, like the Ioniq 5n, it's nutty and head turning and we deserve that😁

Great format Pete. Very informative mate. At the moment we (wife & I ) are in our Renault Master Motorhome on Bruny Island Tasmania doing an 8 week lap of the Island State of Australia. Absolutely fantastic scenery and getting near the end of oue summer. Cheers Keith

We have a new beginning of the modern hot hatch starting with the Renault 5 Ev. This looks a fantastic car and with a weight of 1350kg is actually lighter than a Hyundai i30n at 1508kg Should be a very fun car to drive. Looking forward to driving it.

I have an i30N and love it, but im also excited to see what Hyundai do next. I have faith in them and the 5N is sounding rather good

Part of the fun of the Midweek 180 as it stands, are your attempts to achieve the impossible and cram around 5-10 minutes of content into only 3 minutes! But a 10 minute 180 would work equally well and I am more than happy to go with whatever you choose to do.

Hi Pete, I was surprised to see the video online before 18:00 UK time so I again missed the opportunity to be leader of the pack 😛. I prefer this new format, especially since the 180 seconds was hard to stay within and with intro and outro the video was way longer than 180 seconds anyway.

Yes just before christmas damaged wheel and tyre contacted Nottinghamshire County Council, sent their form along with What three words and pictures of the pothole. Result paid in full but asked for reg number and insurances details, relatively easy to do..............

ten minutes is great length...more calm and easy to shrink if necessary, agree the 180 was often hectic and content got squeezed out

Definitely love the longer format. It’s very sad to hear that more hot hatches are coming to an end. There’s only one true hot hatch left here in America and that’s the Golf R. The manuals are being phased out as well as the hot hatches and the station wagons/ estate cars, Borja is making an “exhaust” system for the Mach-E. My whole world is flipped upside down. What’s next for us gear heads??? 😢 Great mid week 180!

Longer format works really well. I prefer it as long as it stays under 10 mins. Saw Ruby at Goodwood the other day and she's looking good!

In this eco transition the i20N was perfect. Had mine a year now and absolutely love it. So perfect for the uk. Maybe mine will hold its value better now lol. Talking of pot holes, our roads aren’t made for 2 to 3 ton SUV! No wonder they’re falling apart.

Well, might have been in the magnificent 7...my watch must be slow...😂 Like the new format, good for you, alot more to chat about! Pot holes, NASA are currently trailing their new Mars Rover on the streets of Edinburgh and even that hasn't survived! As for claiming damages, more chance of flying to Mars... The new Renault EV is awesome, great value by the sounds of it aswell. Would oove to make the live podcast, another great idea 👌 drifting EVs in Finland,looking forward to that one 😊

Hi Peter, late to the party in terms of comments but I prefer the slightly longer format. Perhaps vary it depending on the amount content that week? You asked about potholes 😡. A few years ago I drove into one (at night) bursting the tyre and cracking the rim and tried to claim against the council. Not possible. They proved they have a process in place and “regularly” check the roads and make repairs - I hit the pothole before it had been recorded / repaired. I live in Birmingham and the roads are shocking and seem to be getting worse. Take care and dodge potholes! Mick

Time change was an error on my part 😂

Tyres: live in Buckingham for last 6 years, 3 blown tyres through pot holes and 2 rim repairs. Tried to recover costs of first one, it took 7 months for the 1st letter then another 6 months for an insurance assessor company to assess the claim. Wanted to know how many miles had the tyre done when the incident happened. To be frank I have given up as I can see the direction it was going. For me it was expensive, for a cyclist it could have been fatal. Awfully bad roads round here.

Sad News about i30N and i20N owned both of them. Awesome cars Hope to own the Ioniq 5 N Driving a Kia EV6 AWD at the moment.

I like the new format. I always wondered why each week you would set an unobtainable target. 😂 Are the pot holes down to vehicles being much heavier now that electric ones are in the 2 tonne range. Maybe tax should be payable by weight as commercial vehicles are, which would increase funding...Just a thought.!! I do like the Renault 5 ev first electric for all people.

They just do that when they are bringing out something better. Next gen electric hot hatch on the way. Hyundai are smashing it. That Renault 😮 that looks great watched your clip and others. If that comes in around £25k the Electric MINI is in trouble. Ok I’m older I grew up with the R5 Turbo. But love it.

@Petrol Ped I had years ago where i hit a pothole and damaged an expensive wheel (at the time 19") and damaged the tyre, I took picture of said pothole and the damage to wheel and tyre and then sent a draft letter from a solicitor to the council to basically say if the didnt reimburse the damage i was taking them to court. Surprise surprise in a couple of days they sent the money to me to pay for anew wheel and tyre and also filled the pothole in.

Thanks for the video Pete, great as always. My dad (80 years old) has an i20N and loves it, but is a touch firm for his liking and made worse by the state of our roads (potholes). I wonder if the value of his car will increase, due to it being axed from the Hyundai line up?

Bummer about the i20/i30N culling. Over here in the “new world” only the wierd Veloster N was offered with the full fat 2.0 Turbo. They offered an Elantra GT N-Line though, which was essentially an i30 with the i20 1.6T motor - really a very good all-round daily driving package (ask me how I know 😅)! We leased one of those pre-Covid in 2019 and managed to buy it at lease end for a mere $12,000 a few months ago. At 75,000 miles driven, we still have a good chunk of factory powertrain warranty (100,000 miles in US) remaining and absolutely nothing has gone wrong with it. 👍👍 Amazing to think that Hyundai got started by reverse engineering a Morris Marina 😂😂

Were off to the nurburgring were going to book the hyundai n ring taxi !

Hit a pothole in Glasgow city centre at a traffic island so only one way through. One tyre blown out one tyre bubbled on the tyrewall so 2 new tyres Tried to take Glasgow city council to task on this they quickly repaired the potholes and denied responsibility. I had photographs of the potholes but still no joy.
