Micro Adventure (BBC Micro) walkthrough

Ойындар

Walkthrough of the BBC Micro text adventure "Micro Adventure".
Originally released as "Micro Puzzle" (1984) by Les Howarth in Usborne's Weird
Computer Games (pp. 12-16) book of type-ins for various 8-bit computers.
This version with rather astounding graphics was created for BBC Micro, by John
Blythe of Rucksack Games and released as "Micro Adventure" in 2019.
The following solution was initially copied and pasted from Richard Bos'
original solution for "Micro Puzzle" at
www.solutionarchive.com/file/...
The following modifications were then applied for the "Micro Adventure"
release:-
* Commands converted to upper case to match this particular version.
* I happen to use GET as one less character to type, but TAKE as in the
original solution is stil OK to use.
* REMOTE-CONTROL which could never be abbreviated has changed to REMOTE in this
version, as easier to type.
* The COMPUTER has been renamed LAPTOP.
* The LAPTOP numeric code is changed from 111 to 404 in this version.
* The LAPTOP password is changed from GROCER to NOSE in this version.
Text solution:-
E, N, W, GET THREAD, W, W, GET CHEESE, S, TIE THREAD, TREE, CLIMB THREAD, S, E,
E, GET KEY, W, W, PUT KEY, TRAIN, PRESS SWITCH, N, N, W, S, LEAVE CHEESE
("DROP" isn't recognised, and PUT doesn't work here), S, S, GET BOTTLE, D,
OPEN BOTTLE, D, OPEN BOX, GET PAPER, READ PAPER (A, E, GET KEY, E, N,

Usborne Publishing's Weird Computer Games was one of the books I ordered from the school book club back in 1984. I only had an unexpanded VIC-20 at the time and this game needed extra memory. I had typed in all of the other listings from the book but I had always been interested in playing this final game "Micro Puzzle" by Les Howarth as I had missed out on it back in the day. The Usborne books always encouraged readers to add their own sound and graphics (specific to their particular system) to the BASIC listings to improve the games. This release as "Micro Adventure" has to be the ultimate example of that. Really amazed by the effort and quality put into these graphics - excellent job by John Blythe of Rucksack Games.
