I met Mick at New York Comic Con in 2007. I was surprised he was even there, and he told me to sit down and talk. I was more than happy to talk with him for three hours! I got his autograph and he told me about a show he was wrestling that Saturday, with Jerry Lawler. It was a great show, and on his way of the ring, he said hi to my friends and I. He's always been my favorite, and I wish him nothing but the best. Great wrestler, hard worker, exceptional on the mic, and an incredible writer.

“Getting 30g of protein every two weeks..” - maybe that was the problem..haha. No, but seriously, if everybody looked like Hogan and better - then Hogan would look average and below average. He also wasn’t exactly “a Bret Hart” in the ring, he should be happy, that he got to be so physically impressive. I think it’s good that you have your bodybuilders, your giants, the fat guys, the leaner guys, the stocky guys - they shouldn’t all look the same.

"being physically impressive" is sorta all he had going for him, so no wonder that's what he focuses on. well that, and cutting a half-decent promo. but nowadays he's got that "deflated" look that all the various roidasauruses get eventually, and lord knows he shoulda kept his mouth shut outside of the ring, and meanwhile Mick's still in pretty good shape considering his wrestling style is "get into a car crash that kills the the other guy and walk away from it" and he's a successful author to boot so clearly he knows how to pick his words better

And it very true. Genetics plays a big part in the physic one can obtain. For example, one of my best friends growing up was a really big, really strong guy and I wasn't. I was kinda big and moderately strong. And we use to work out together as adults and my work out would always last at least an hour longer that his. And while I might have been getting into better physical condition than him, I knew that no matter how much I lifted and for how long, I'd never be as big or strong as him and no matter how much he did, he'd never get as cut as me. Some people are just naturally stronger and some are just naturally more malleable.

Hulk worked out more in one morning than Foley did his entire career, and Foley provided more entertainment through his wrestling and performance in 1 match than Hogan did his entire career. I mean mankind vs undertaker hell in a cell or Hogan vs ultimate warrior, which would you rather watch? If you've seen one hulk hogan match you've seen them all. If you've seen one hogan promo you've seen them all. Mick Foley did things in the ring I'd never seen before and I've never seen anyone else do it since. The only time Hogan did something unpredictable was in that video with bubba the love sponge's wife.

That's a good point about jealous gatekeepers in the literary world. Every industry has that, and you can think about it from a wrestling perspective too. Look at when guys like Kurt Angle or Brock Lesnar show up. They start their pro wrestling careers and in a very short amount of time they're on the main show. A few of the well established superstars can feel secure enough and be gracious enough to grant that they're pretty good (or really good for how new they are to pro wrestling). But imagine how guys who have spent 10 years at mid-card on a smaller show feel about those guys. You ask them about Kurt Angle in 1998 or Brock Lesnar in 2002, and they're going to do nothing but bury them.
