@dinghe6948

Basically Michael chose a safe pool of investments that would go even/do better in most circumstances, and the fish chose randomly. It's a fairly safe pool versus Wall Street Bets which will always be crazier cause they pick memes...and depending on how the market, picking a select group out of the whole "relatively safe group" is hedging your bets. Literally. Your risking to get more. From financial perspective, it's relatively rigged. Michael will always basically win, cause memestocks will be crap and it's a bonus incentive if michael looks better cause he doesn't have to beat the nasdaq but it looks better if he does.

The best strategy to use in trading stock is to trade with a professional who understands the market quite well, that way maximum profit is guaranteed. A lot of people are not sure what risk means to them. Some believe that risk = volatility. Some don't. Some believe risk is permanently losing capital when investing.

A small potential correction. Company size is a bit shaky as an independent factor... but picking small value stocks appears to carry the risk premium on returns.
@zvxcvxcz
2 жыл бұрын
Oh, but over the long term it seems like the risk does appear to have an edge. At least this is the claim made by Dimensional for their non-market cap weighted small cap value funds based on published research. Their approach seems sound at a cursory look through at least... but if you have a debunk of that approach I would certainly be interested to see it. I'm always a bit leery of a free lunch, even if it is a small free lunch over many years with the cost of higher short term risk tolerance.
So if hedge/mutual funds are consistently outperformed by ETFs with much lower expense ratios - why do people still invest in them? I really feel there is a ton of opportunity to teach people that they’re money can work better and harder somewhere else. Not to profit off of them - just to teach them.
In the olden times, when the WSJ used to print stock prices in the paper every day, people did experiments with darts and other animals. Random number generators can be amazing. And sometimes not.
I like how you always change the thumbnail and title after a few minutes of posting 😂

Boxing match? This is news to me!
While a fun experiment, not really a long term strategy.
IMHO, he explained the Efficient Market Hypothesis better than Professor Andrew Lo did in a lecture from fall 1995.
There's a 50/50 chance to beat the market over any period if you are picking randomly right, you either beat the market or you do worse and the market index is the average so its even chances
Michael is gonna hit you with the Stockton Slap during your boxing match for insulting Fredrick lol.
Maybe we should all just spend some time talking to a very smart feller who's name is Jeremy. Profits= the hard work your willing to put into researching companies! also in Peter lynches books he continues to state that the average person can beat the market by carefully choosing his own companies that he believes are undervalued. I do agree that funds like voo should also be used in a persons portfolio.
